-- Youtuber's Monotype Tournament Now Enlisting! --
Hello fellow Interwebbers! Today, I'm coming to you guys about the YouTuber's Monotype Tournament (YMT). The YMT will consist consist of 18 teams, each having a unique Pokemon type.
These eighteen teams will go head to head until only one stands: The Champion
---
START DATE: Unknown (once we get enough players...)
Requirements for Tournament:
- You must have a valid copy of Pokemon ORAS.
- You must have the ability to Breed, Train, and Battle with a Competitive Team.
- A team name for your type.
You don't have to have, but it would be nice if you did:
- a YouTube channel. If you have a channel, you can narrate your battle. If not, the YMT will narrate.
- a 3Ds Capture Card, since sharing a Battle Video is possible. If you do have one, that would be preferable, if you don't, send me the Battle Video Code.
IF YOU WANT TO JOIN, comment with this format (Mine's in the comments if you don't get it.)
- Type you want to apply for:
- Your Drafts:
- Team Name:
- YouTube Channel? Name?
- 3ds Cap Card?
- How experienced are you in competitive 1-10
---
So, let's start with THE DRAFT:
- Each player will draft 11 Pokemon from their perspective type, as long as they are not banned (See Ban List).
- Two of those Pokemon can be Mega.
- You do not have to bring a Mega into battle. (Ex. If you draft Mega Blastoise, you can bring the Mega, or the regular)
- A Pokemon can only battle if it is your type. (If Dragon drafts Charizard X, he has to Mega Evolve because he has to be Dragon to battle.)
- If your Pokemon changes form via an attack/ability/mega evolution, it cannot change out of your specific type. (Imposter, Protean, Megas such as Mega Gyarados [if drafted in Flying, because it becomes Water/Dark] all do not work.)
- A Pokemon can only be drafted twice. (Charizard had 3 possible drafts, Fire, Flying, and Dragon, and so do some other Megas. The first two to draft him will get him)
- You can draft multiple Pokemon from a species (Haunter, Gengar is ok. Rotom/Heat and Rotom/Wash is NOT because they are different forms, not different Pokemon)
- Each team will have a "Wild Card" Pokemon assigned to them. The Wild Card is not necessarily good, but it can be good if used correctly. Each match will have a 33% chance to be a Wild Card Match. If it is a Wild Card Match, both Players must bring their Wild Card.
---
BATTLE FORMAT:
Singles
TOURNAMENT RULES:
- No duplicate items
- No duplicate Pokemon (as I said earlier, Haunter/Gengar or Porygon2/PorygonZ is ok, whereas two Rotom Forms are not.)
- Every Pokemon has to be used at least once in the tournament.
- You cannot have a moveset intended to make the battle last forever
- Evasion Boosting or Accuracy Lowering Moves are not allowed.
- Swagger is not allowed.
- OHKO moves are legal.
- Suicide moves are legal. (Selfdestruct, Explosion, Healing Wish, etc.)
- Moves that change the opponent's type are not allowed.
---
TOURNAMENT BATTLES:
So, before the battles, the YMT crew will rate the teams and assign each team a seed (1-18). This is the predicted placing in the tournament.
Next, each team will face the others, resulting in 17 battles. From there, the seeds will be rearranged and the Playoffs begin.
The Playoffs decide who moves on, and who moves on to a Placement Bracket. The Placement Bracket determines your exact placement in the tournament.
Here are the Playoffs:
- In Week 1 of the Playoffs, only four teams play. The two who lose battle for places 18-17.
- In Week 2, sixteen teams play, and the eight who lose battle for places 16-9.
- In Week 3, eight teams play, and the four who lose battle for places 8-5.
- In Week 4, four teams play, and the two who lose battle for places 4-3.
- In Week 5, the final two teams battle for the Championship title.
