Zacian V rules

Hey guys. I'm new to the Pokemon TCG and have been looking everywhere for an extensive rules website for card interaction and niche situations to help explain things.

My boardstate: I have a zacian V on the table and go to use intrepid sword. This is turn 1, my opponent doesn't have anything yet. I picked up: Jarachi, coating metal energy and basic metal energy. Obviously I can put the basic metal energy onto zacian, and I thought I could put the coating metal energy as well but my opponent hesitated and stopped me saying that the energy isn't a metal energy unless in play.

Looking at the energy it does say that it provides metal energy when attached. But when you look at the border of the card, it identifies the card as a metal type energy. Metal basic energies have the same bordering.
Zacian doesn't state that you must find a basic metal energy. Simply a metal energy.

If there any judges here. Please settle this dispute. Just to settle my sanity. If I get a good answer I'll totally come here more often. I love niche interaction and possible power plays. Sorry that it's zacian V but it was my first standard deck.

Despite the design, it only counts as a Metal Energy while attached to a Pokemon. As part of an effort to standardize and simplify text on cards, cards like this lost some description text they would have had before the Sword and Shield Base Set released, those being that it does not provide energy when not attached to a Pokemon. It would be retrievable by cards that fetch special energy, iirc.
