Same here, mine was Ruby and I completely agree but I didn't like RBY because it seemed too basic and the Pikachu began to annoy me in Yellow.

I'm used to Steven, plus a Water type Champion seems a bit too basic but a STEEL one is interesting in my opinion.

I started on Ruby so that must be my favourite. It isn't liked much by the mainstream but rom hackers seem to love it.
