I'm guessing if you choose the starter from your friend you get the kanto starter that is weaker than the kalos starter. for example Froakie and charmander , Fenniken and Bulbasaur , and chespin and Squirtle. if that is so then i'll pick chespin because blastoise is my favorite starter pokemon.
