  • Everyone likes eating. The way you say it makes it seems like you're supposed to feed women like an animal. Does your sexism stem from being rejected in the past?
Cassino is not a sexist. Nobody said anything about animals, except the guy he quoted. Don't accuse people of such things.

  • I know, Valentines Day is just a way for companies to make all that money. If you don't buy something for the person you love then it implies you don't care.

Oh hey, Christmas is just as guilty.

That said, Valentines Day is pretty rad. Even when I was single and stuff, it was cool because there was always candy involved. Even if I was alone, I could still eat myself into a sugar induced coma.

  • I don't see going all out for valentines day. If you truly love someone, you should show them you love them everyday.
I got my boyfriend something small as our 4 year anniversary is like a week after

  • That's because no one is having optimism about Valentine's day. This thread is nothing but a pity party.

While he may have been trolling, everything he said was true.

Also, Mr Oxford, that should be "I think we should all take no notice of Apples; he is a troll and only wants attention."

Why not? Everyone is being depressive, which is what his points are addressing.

He was booted because of the language he used, not because of his opinion. In fact, the moderator that infracted him, agreed with him.

For "The Cynic", you aren't very cynical.

Firstly, you seem to be stating that other people's opinions do not matter. You like Valentine's Dat, some other people in this thread don't. Deal with it. It is absolutely fine to be an opinionated person, but it is wrong to force those beliefs onto other people. Freedom of expression is one of the most unequivocally fundamental axioms of our democratic societies.

Sefondly Srcondly Secondgy Secondly, spelling is not so important. Spelling, grammar and punctuation exsist merely so that the reader can understand what the writer has written. I'm pretty sure we could all work out that thake in that context meant take. There is no need to be a grammar nazi. Furthermore, you have this strange belief that more academically minded people are somehow much better at spelling than other people. I study Physics, a subject that dosn't demand you pell every word perfect. After all, Einstein was dyslexic...

Thirdly, you say that everything said by Apples was true. He was saying that anyone who stated that Valentine's is over commercialised was just being pretentious. Its not being pretentious, its common sense. Valentin'es is over-commercialised. Christmas is over-commercialised. He was calling people who shared this belief "pseudo-intellectuals" when clearly they were just showing basic logic.

Fourthly, not everyone dislike Valentine's Day. Jonlene, JadedIguana, Ayselipera and I are just afew of the many memebers who have stated they like the occasion. Therefore, your point is just completely invalid.

Fithly, I was refering to his language when I stated he was being booted out, not his opinions. I've already stated why different opinions are important.

Finally, I am quite cynical. I like Valentine's Day as a concept. Not what it has become for the majority. I am cynical about many things. I am cynical about global warming. I am cynical about the Labour governement. I am cynical about a Conservative governement. I am cynical about the new series of Scrubs. I am cynical about Pokemon's 5th Gen being up-to-scratch. I am a cynic. Don't doubt who I am.

  • Valentine's Day
    -noun
The holiday Hallmark made up to make single people feel bad about themselves.

I hate Valentine's Day. I'm always single XD Tomorrow we have a dance. And I'm probably hanging out with my friends.

No plans for me. No date. I probably COULD get a date if a girl hadn't spilled my biggest secret to the girl I like, if the girl hadn't burst into tears when I told her no to a date that led to all the girls in the school hating me.

  • I think it's a fun holiday. As long as it's not taken to seriously and is not the only day that one's expresses their love. I think doing something original is better then buying something cliche. Making something homemade like a painting or something. But, everyone has a right to express their love in a different way. It's kinda annoying to see it so commercialized but all holidays are like that. All the pessimism is this thread is overwhelming. xD

I am single. sigh Well, maybe next year. I'm not going to just date someone to have a Valentines day to share with someone. xD Good things come to those who wait.

  • I dislike Valentine's day. I've had a boyfriend for Valentine's day every year since I've been 16, but seriously... why does one day of the year have to be more important than any other day to let someone know you love them?
I don't mind doing something special for valentine's day but I also remember when I used to be single every year back in the day and all I thought was "oh joy.. here comes the holiday created to make single people feel like poop because they don't have someone to spend the day with."

    Valentine's day is overrated..

The only thing that depresses me about it this year, though, is that my boyfriend and I are neck high in debt and utterly broke so we're not going to be able to do anything special..
Just the usual sitting around the house with no cable.. stealing wireless internet from someone else in our apartment complex.. with no food, a broken, mold infested dishwasher, and two stinky, annoying dogs constantly in our face about something... *sigh*
    I've gotten way off topic.

  • Kinda ironic for so much hate on a holiday about love... and to those that say the if-you-really-love-someone-you-would-show-them-everyday thing, you might as well forget mothers/fathers day, birthdays, anniversaries...

Everyone saying Valentines day is too commercialized or 'just a way to sell gifts' etc is wayyyyyyyyyy wrong.

Doing a personalized gift, that wasn't bought in a store will be more appreciated every single time. Making something, doing something, writing something will always beat buying something if you want to make a serious impression on somebody.

I don't think my boyfriend and I are doing anything for Valentine's Day this year. It will be our fourth one, though! Luckily, we're going to Cancun four days later with my family. I guess I can count that as Valentine's Day. :D

  • Personally, I don't like Valentine's day.

1 month ago, I was supposed to show up on a date with a Japanese woman but I have failed. Now She don't want to get involved with me.

Now I am looking for someone else to go to a Japanese restraurant.

  • The only time I ever cared about Valentine's Day was i n my first year of High School when a girl in my class said she was going to give me a Valentine the day before Valentine's. So I had to rush to the nearest flower shop and get her some roses since I felt inclined to get her something.
