Want to move to the US.

So I've been thinking about this for a long time. First of all, Ireland sucks. Sure it might be a nice place to visit, but the economy is awful, the weather is crap, and we have no resources or activities. But mostly, I find the culture we have to be increasingly bad, with no sense of community. You may say I won't find that anywhere, but where in most countries people try to make people feel accomplished when they do something good, in Ireland we have this tendency to put people down when they do good things. I don't know what it is.

I've kind of intentionally not made many close friends, and kept distant from people from people due to the fact that I just don't want any strong connections with people so I'll be able to move. I feel like I'll get my degree here, or maybe not, and move. I've been to the US, I much preferred it. There's a lot more opportunity, and you get so much more out of your money there. I don't think American's know how lucky they have it sometimes, I know Ireland isn't the worst place, but it's certainly nothing compared to the US.

So chances are I'll be moving some time in the future. After I do some work in a graphic design business I'm in, I might transfer if I can rack up a good portfolio. Not entirely sure where I'd like to live. But my girlfriend has the same mentality, she's a musician. Personally, I'd rather be a small fish in a big pond, than a small one in a small one. Because when you work your way up, it'd be so much more satisfying.

But yeah, it's something I'm strongly considering, I've never been much of a family person either, due to the fact I don't particularly have a strong relationship with them. Chances are, I'll be moving.

Well, I'd say America sucks, too, but it all depends on where you are and what you plan to do. I just don't want you to fall into that mindset that makes you think "things will be all better as soon as I'm somewhere else."

And also, don't move to the south. Or the midwest. Or the southwest. Or the mountain states. Basically just keep to the coasts.

Thought about hopping across the Irish Sea for a bit, to maybe ease you in, or is it going to be straight across the Atlantic?

@Scarf: I'd probably go somewhere like Boston, or NY, or if I went the other side it would be Florida. But I'd discover a plan first, visit it a few times etc. It wouldn't be jumping into the deep end.

@Cat Dog: Thought about moving to London, there's a chance I might, it really depends on the economic situation I guess.

Florida. Do it. I'm here. That's reason enough.

Come to America, maybe too Seatle or something? /and to come down and visit me, haha I kid. Woo West coast, though we do get quite some rain, you kinda get used to it, haha.. But we dont get all that hurricane business. Earthquakes maybe, rarely.

I would say come to Northern California, but I am not a good enough reason to compensate for every other reason why California sucks. ~__~ Good luck with whatever you do choose though! :D

I can understand how you feel, I plan to move to America the second I'm done with university here in New Zealand, I'm probably going to move to New York and try make it there, NZ is just a dead alley when it comes to getting a good job.

I'd move to one of the bigger states if you want the most job opportunities. California, New York, Florida, even Texas has more than some of the little suburbs of the other cities. =w= Don't move to Kansas.
