I call it 'winter', but up here in Boston it would be better accurately depicted if I called it 'Hell frozen over.' This winter in Massachusetts we broke the all-time record for most snow in the history of Boston's tenure. As of today, we have had 110.3 inches, a crazy feat for this city and state as it was utterly brutal up here. Granted, there are probably many places around the globe which have had it a lot worse than us, but for a place that regularly has snowy winters this year was completely unheard of.

As what many people do when an issue comes up, I turned to For most of the last two months, the roads up here have been an absolute mess. Two way streets quickly became one way streets, and ultimately a lot of roads were closed off and transformed into a maze of transportation. The cleanup was slow and unforgiving, as for many areas around here towns had nowhere they could dump the snow. For instance, at the school in which I work at, the town ended up dumping a lot of the town's excessive snow onto the field in which the kids played on. Furthermore, the snow mounds were over street signs - no joke - creating havoc just trying to maneuver around and not bumping into anything, especially other cars. Boston had to pay millions on plowing alone due to the unrealistic amount of snow we received. It's been quite astonishing to say the least.

One of the most annoying characteristics about this winter though was the skyrocket in gas prices. Around the time of Christmas before all the snow plummeted upon us, gas prices in Massachusetts were at an all time low at $1.99. Well, all time low in my life span is what I meant. Anyways, due to the incredulous amount of snow we received shortly after, gas prices went up all the way to around $2.68. For most people that might not seem like much, but considering I am a person who burns through 100 miles of gas each day, I groaned every day I passed by a gas station and saw it steadily go up. Thankfully, now that that the snow is almost gone, gas prices have dropped to $2.33. Hopefully in the next few weeks as the weather gets better the gas prices will continue to drop down, but who really knows. I'm just going to stay optimistic!

I'm just extremely happy that the final pages are turning in this horrific winter's chapter. Just the thought of spring and summer is an orchestra of radiant music going off in my head. All I know is that after this winter I will be forever be known as a "summer" person. Anyways, what has your winter been like? Have you been hit hard with snow, or did you barely get any? What was the first time you saw snow like (in general)? For a person who has never seen snow before, do you want to see it? Comment below as I'd love to hear and discuss with you what you have to say about this topic!
