  • as i have been looking through this hack this hack is exactly like emerald but in a lower quality, which i mean is it is a excellent pokemon silver hack. but i also have a question if you don't mind. this is a emerald remake right? in pokemon emerald it has an rayquiza event which shows an animation rayquiza flying. so how how do you plan to put that animation? and sorry if i spelled rayquiza wrong. because i don't know how to spell it :p anyways this is a very good hack, i love it. i wish you good luck on this hack.

  • Bad news and good news.
    Sorry for the lack of updates everything, I've been sick in the past week with some weird bug. I've been having massive headaches, and my throats been covered in sores, it sucks. I'm feeling better now, so I'll probably get back to work pretty soon.

    Also, school is starting here after next week, which means this hack will be slowed down, unfortunately. However, I will still continue work on this, and I can assure you that the Demo will be released soon, and it will be worth the wait.

    Ew, premakes are a major waste of time and nobody cares for them!

    Sense my sarcasm.

    I find this game hack to be interesting. all other game hacks I have played of G/S/C are subpar. but yours looks to be the game that changes my mind about G/S/C hacks.

  • Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been working on a quite a few things that will be worth the wait. In order to get the first demo out sooner, I'm going to be using HyperHacker's 256 tile hack instead of MeanMrMustard's 256 tile hack. Not sure what I mean? Well, in Gold and Silver, all tilesets can have up to 96 tiles. However, when the 256 tile hack is implemented, as the name implies, you can have up to 256 tiles. Unfortunately they're both a little glitchy. HyperHacker's hack causes all tile pallettes to be temporarily messed up after exiting the Pokegear. MeanMrMustard's causes the start menu to look weird in caves after exiting the Pokegear. So overall, MeanMrMustard's hack is better.

    Mateo helped me input the ASM from the tutorial here, but for some reason the game crashes when a map loads. Neither of us could figure it out, so we turned to Coolboyman for help. Unfortunately he couldn't figure it out either, so I'm stuck using HyperHacker's hack. So whenever you exit the Pokegear all of the map's tile's pallettes will be momentarily screwed up. Not a major problem, but annoying.

    New screenshots will come soon.

    Code:
    Animations Copy Routine: [Copies the Rooftops to VRAM1]

    F5 push af ;
    3E 01 ld a,01 ; Set VRAM1
    E0 4F ld (FF00+4F),a ;vram bank ;
    [b]CD 03 04 Call 4003 ; Copy Tiles[/b]
    AF xor a ; Set VRAM0
    E0 4F ld (FF00+4F),a ;vram bank ;
    F5 push af
    C9 ret ;

    3E 01 ld a,01 ; Set VRAM1
    E0 4F ld (FF00+4F),a ;vram bank ;
    CD 1A 31 Call 311A ; Copy Tiles

    It looks like meanmrmustard made a typo. If you entered those bytes exactly, then problems occur because CD 03 04 translates to call $0403, not call $4003. If you inserted those bytes exactly, you will get an infinite loop (except the stack overflows first) because the byte at $403 is $FF, which corresponds to the ASM command rst $38, which calls $38. Guess what the byte at $38 is?

    Hmm....thanks for posting that. It's possible I may have corrected that...but I'm not sure.

  • Wow, this is sure........ different in a good way. I think 2nd Generation Hacks are by far the most impressive, to see how well the person has been working on them, and in this case, it is really impressive. Good Luck and hope to see even more progress.
