    Well, I think it has to do something with the fact that he judges everyone and everything based on strength and doesn't care about anyone's feelings but his own. He just wants his team to be strong, it makes no difference to him if they like him or not. Plus he stole two of 'em. He gets better near the end though, he even says he has to consider his Pokemon as living creatures, which is also why it's only then that his Golbat evolves into Crobat. As players, we get attached to our Pokemon and care about them.

    As for me, I'm just gonna call him Silver. Better than the ??? that I always went for back in the day...

    I will probably name mine "Cyril" after the nickname my fiance usually takes, or Reiz, the nickname my other male Pokemon-playing friend usually takes. It's sort of amusing to me to have my rival paralleling a person I know in real life who is also playing the game.

    In Japanese HGSS (5 letters limit): Noob/Gary/Silve

    When I'm playing with friends during C# lessons at school: probably my friend's name or something...

    I have no idea what I'm going to name him. Possibly "Jon" after my boyfriend just to be mean.

    I'm honestly tempted to name him "???" just because that's what I named him in my very first playthrough of the game when I was about 6. I thought that the game would break if I didn't tell the police what his actual name was. Hahaha. I kind of like calling him "???" because you really don't know what his name is. Yeah, his generic name is Silver, but, still.

    I always take my character names and Pokemon nicknames somewhat seriously. I think I'm going to call my rival "Shawn." Why? The name has the same meaning as the name "Giovanni." Hooray for spoilers and references.

    I'll probably name mine Collin, just like I've done in LG and Diamond. Why? Ehehe, well... I named him after a bully from school, and later on an OC of mine developed into Collin as a totally seperate entity and an IC-rival, so it... kind of stuck, name wise. X3;

    SO, COLLIN IT SHALL BE. Or if I want to be totally silly, He'll be BROGAAHAAAAAAA (or howevermuch of it fits, anyway).

    Already had a thread for nicknaming people and all, so merged the two.

    Myself, either Silver or ??? I would think, for it being his GSC default name, and ??? because that's what they said his name was, darn it. =P (Only now it'll probably be Passerby Boy -_-).

    my name in the game: アレクシス (my real name in japanese, according to google translate)
    My rival's name in the game シルバー (silver in japanese)

    and All of my pokemon have their proper names.
