Is there anything from the previous generations that you wish would have made it into other games. for example bug catching contests, telephone, having your mom save money (even though she spent it). having secret bases other than in the underground?

one of the main things i miss is the more unique towns in s/r/e.
another would be able to go underwater. that was pretty awesome

real usable secret bases is the only thing i'm missing in DPPT. I couldn't care less about the GSC stuff.

I wanted to send GF a hate mail for not including secret bases in DPPT (WHY would they not include it when they introduced WiFi and everything? SRSLY), but I decided not to.

I really hope they include it in the future R/S remakes.

I miss how broken freeze was from RBY, you couldn't unfreeze unless you got hit with a fire move or used a freeze heal (whatever it was called). Now they have a chance to unfreeze.

Honestly? The only things I miss are the telephone and style of graphics. Mostly though that's just nostalgia.

The music in the older games was far better in my nostalgia-influenced opinion.
And, concerning HGSS: The VS Seeker. It was pretty much the best item that was ever in a Pokemon game, and they replaced it...

In GenI, bug-type pokemon were weak to poison attacks. In G/S, they changed this so poison attacks were only neutral to bug-type pokemon, in addition to introducing the steel-type, which was completely immune to poison-type attacks. D:

To be fair, the Pokegear battles came first. HG/SS didn't replace the VS Seeker so much as use the system that was in the originals.

I'd say I miss the ability to go to a second region. I thought it was the perfect idea for the game Post-Elite Four, and yet the only games to have that feature are Gen II and their remakes.

Definitely the secret bases from r/s/e. I was very sad to see they were replaced with the horribly lame (IMO) underground ones.

I miss when the starter pokemon didn't look like the harlequin stepchildren of Chernobyl residents.

I miss when Magnemite and Magneton weren't steel type pokemon making them so much easier to beat. Wattson gives me such trouble. :/

I miss the bug catching contest, the rare candy cheat, how much easier it seemed to be to catch the three legendary birds, and the power plant.

I miss the retro music. That's just nostalgia, though. Sigh. I also miss the legendaries, especially Mewtwo. I seriously don't get the amount of legendaries in D/P/Pt. There's too many.

I miss the Bug Catching Contest cause they were just fun.

Transport like the Cable Car and the Train. They made the game a bit more real. I mean seriously, how far could a real person really cycle? :L

The S.S. Anne and it's descendant(s) [Cant remember how many there was] those levels were fun.

And when the rival was actually hardto beat. Now it's too easy D: in general the games are too easy.:L

I'm a nostalgiac myself, but still I don't like the rebattling system of GSC, I never really liked it. Things take just way too long that way, and the games have already slowed down more than what would be bearable.

I can live without the secret bases and contests from RSE, but what I really miss that insanely fast HP bar from the first gen. Nowadays I nearly fall asleep since it takes forever to go down. ._.

You're right! I almost forgot. I miss the older generation's speed in general. Yeah, R/S/E had a ton of surfing routes, but at least surfing was faster.

I also miss the Train. Future games should really have more things like the train. I also kind of miss the Bug Catching Contest. Quite fun, and didn't give me as much of a headache as the Safari Zone did.

The REALLY fast surf speed of Emerald. Sereously, it's the speed of Running shoes or the Acro Bike maybe. Remember to pack Repels, and it made a mockery of half of Hoenn being water routes (Although there was a good reason for that).

RSE's Contests. They were a bad feature to begin with, but at least the ones in RSE were FUN. They had combo's, Selfdestruct and Explosion (which made them easier for earlier rounds to make it to the good late ones), and a whole host of other things. DPPt really messed up in that regard.

They also messed up the Battle Frontier. Give me back the Pyramid, Pike, and Factory dangit!

As for 2 regions? GSC messed up badly, as Kanto wasn't as good, and Johto suffered greatly as a result (Look at the region itself. It's really not to creative). HGSS did good, but they are new.

How about the Underground? That needs to be in a lot more games (or at least it's spiritual succesor. Come on, that's one of the most underatted features in Sinnoh!)
