    1. They're not going to change what it was made for at this point. Pokemon takes a long time to develop and it's first party, it's not like the 3DS snuck up on them.
Just a little nitpick... Pokemon is technically developed by Game Freak, not Nintendo (To be specific). GF is a company that works for Nintendo. This makes it second party. :x

You make a good point about how Pokemon has never been released on a fairly young console.

As far as animations goes, I'm surprised we're still only using 2 frames. IIRC, GSC used more.

Only Crystal had animated sprites out of the three, Celebi had the most frames, reaching up to 14.

Now if only they could do that with Gen V.

If they switched to 3d animation in battles that would almost ruin it for me. I love the good old 2d sprites, but as others have said, there needs to be more animation frames. The 2-frame plus some sprite stretching gets old. Attack animations for the Pokemon would be cool too, but probably asking for too much. I don't think all that information could fit in the one cartridge.

I prefer the 2D sprites that we've had in Pokemon, lately, but who knows? Having 3D Pokemon could enhance the Pokemon gaming experience in a manner that is better than we expected... More frames would be greatly appreciated, though... :)

If Nintendo had a GBA slot like the original Nintendo DS (Lite), that would be awesome. I don't know the exact specifications, but if the original GBA (SP) slot could be implemented instead (the one that plays GBA, GBC, and GB games), that would be...indescribable. :) Backwards compatibility for the whole Nintendo handheld family (excluding Game & Watch and the other 'spin-offs')? That would be impressive. (I know, kind of outdated, but I'm stuck on the Pal Park issue since I'm still stuck in Generation III, and I still have to save up for both Pokemon Platinum and HeartGold Versions, since the Generation 5 games will probably be missing several easily obtainable Pokemon from Pt and HG. Having a 3DS and still being able to do Gen_III-to-Gen_IV transfers along with the presumably upcoming Gen_IV-to-Gen_V transfers would be very convenient for me.)

Anyway, I'll keep on waiting for Generation V to roll around in full force soon enough (aside from Light-types, I'm really hoping that this is the Generation that employs more 'action' [via the announced rebirth of the series], as Junichi Masuda said he wanted to add to the series months ago...) :D

EDIT: And more Seals, please (feathers, leaves, diamonds, etc. Minor feature, but it's still a nice touch to Poke Ball animations...) Speaking of PokeBall animations, if Generation V should happen to use 3DS-exclusive features, the PokeBall animations should be smooth at least. The 3D incarnations of 'Poke Ball throwing' I've seen in Pokemon Stadium 2 and Battle Revolution have looked a bit...jilted, on occasion.

If this new DS contained all of the features of all of the previous models, i would pay anything for it. GBA slot, DS slot, and DSi features as well as 3D! Wifi/Wireless for original DS games, who wouldn't buy this? Pokemon would be the reason for most of the units sold. Also, if it was launched with the 5th gen games I could guarantee you that it would sell like hotcakes.

    Pokestick good times.

I just found out about Gen 5, I didn't know anything about it until now when I searched for Generation 5 on google (not expecting to find anything), I hope it's on the DS/DSi as i bought a new Dsi last Tuesday and wouldn't want to buy a new console to play it on

A Good question, I would LOVE to see flying. We can meet pokemon in the air. Thats the only thing GameFreak haven't done yet. It would be a interesting concept, for catching some flying pokemon.

How about having a somewhat realistic concept to encountering wild pokemon? Other than the traditional walk over X terrain and encounter X Pokemon, how about having certain Pokemon walk around in routes in the overworld? If you make contact with these Pokemon then you engage in a battle against that Pokemon, or we could have standard Pokemon overworlds (Tentacool, Zigzagoon, and Zubat) that are encountered and lead to a battle against a random Pokemon that can appear on that route.

YES flying routes- that would be beastly! i would love for them to bring back DIVE routes- i LOVED those!

that actually defeats the purpose of the game IMO

    FOR THE WIN!
oh, and i'm just gonna change the subject here and share my common sense with GameFreak
    ok here it goes-
why does the fate of the world always seem to rest on the hands of one ten year old? you need to have other trainers more involved- like maybe have Cops and soldiers, or maybe some buddies the Main Character meets along the way- why is it always this one god-like ten year old?
    Anyone else agree?

I disagree. Cynthia, Rowan, and Barry help you in D/P/Pt. Silver helps in HG/SS...kind of...

actually silver sorta b**ch-slaps your entire plan to sneak in as a rocket and then continues to fight you- and in D/P/Pt those are only 3 people (2 because rowan doesn't fight)
we need to have an army behind us- not just us
