So... Apparently, not only does Jessie and James get new uniforms, but apparently they were apparently entrusted by Giovanni (who also got a similar Uniform change) to become the frontline troops for the impending Rocket Invasion. I'm actually beginning to wonder if this region is indeed going to be Team Rocket's swan song? I mean, they could have just made them the same as the previous regions (send JJM off for a fools errand) and not even have to update Giovanni's uniform if they wished for them to continue, plus the character bio for Team Rocket indicated that Team Rocket is going to invade Isshu (presumably by Military Force).

Um... I think most people already knew that (: but it's nice to post.

I didn't know about the Invasion though :O I hope it turns out to be some sort of Rocket Vs. Plasma thing.

Well, Serebii.net claimed, or at least heavily implied, that there was apparently going to be an invasion by Team Rocket, especially in this news here:

    Serebii.net September 2nd News said:
    Best Wishes News
The official Japanese site for Best Wishes has just updated with the new look for Team Rocket. This puts them more in-line with the Rocket Grunts within the games wearing black costumes. In Best Wishes, Jessie & James are classified as Team Rocket's Advanced Troops and are the frontline for Giovanni to help Isshu fall to Team Rocket. Thanks to Subponea Makuskippa for the translation.

Yes, because they become assistants to Giovanni, and they;re efforts are going to be completely foiled, and Ash wont have Brock to help him :( . I want to choke the producers so Brock can come back.

I think there just trying to make Team Rocket more like what they were in the Kanto series. There's a lot of similarities from the look of things between this and Kanto.

But why update Giovanni's artwork and unveil it as if he was going to be a major character? Plus, if Team Rocket's going to be taken down by Ash if Team Rocket is indeed (one of) the main threat(s) of Isshu, as the news implied, then Giovanni might end up arrested, if not resigning, and because of this, then JJM will either resign from Team Rocket to continue being on the series, or they HAVE to permanently remove JJM as well.

I don't think they'll remove JJM from Pokemon,
They are 3 of the biggest character's on the show. Hell! why don't we get rid of Pikachu whilst were at it.
We don't know why Giovanni was revealed maybe he has a small cameo appearance.
He probably will in the beginning telling JJM what their mission is.

Giovanni also had cameo appearances in AG and DP as well, and yet they never publicized his image, period.

Plus, why have Team Rocket as Advanced Troops commanding an invasion and mention it in their BW Bio if not to eventually remove them? Their bio didn't mention anything about establishing a base in Hoenn, or establishing something about coffee houses in Sinnoh (whatever Giovanni said) when AG or DP was in development. It has to be something else.

Did anyone see "Giovanni's Secretary", as Bulbapedia calls her?

I thin kshe may be a recurring character in the BW series, like an Admin or something.

Or maybe she works for Team Plasma :O.

I think it will be cool if JJM were really a threat this season being a little more serious. Maybe having them activly fighting team plasma. Any ideas?

Yah, I'm hopping Team Rocket will be more of a threat this series that'd be great, they were in top form in Kanto series.

I really hate how hey took away Brock :( Really, he has been on the show all this time? It's not going to be the same without him. How will Ash even defeat Team Rocket?

What? A Team Rocket invasion? Giovanni trusts those fools Jessie, James, and Meowth to lead this operation? Wow, maybe Team Rocket will actually be evil in the upcoming series. They have been way too much of a comic relief to the show in recent years. It's about time they started acting serious.

And hopefully their dialogue improves! It's just awful right now.

Team Rocket has always been comic relief. Anyone who thinks Team Rocket (Jessie, James, and Meowth I mean) are going to change into serious characters all of a sudden are fooling themselves.

Brock didn't even meet Ash when Ash defeated JJM with Caterpie, so Ash certainly won't need him to defeat Team Rocket now, if that's what you mean.

I suspect that Ash might even put an end to Team Rocket for good. If they simply wanted to keep TR around for the comic relief for eternity, they shouldn't have even brought in the whole invasion idea in the first place. I know I wouldn't have if I were the writers.

Team Rocket has always been comic relief. Anyone who thinks Team Rocket (Jessie, James, and Meowth I mean) are going to change into serious characters all of a sudden are fooling themselves.

Then please explain why Giovanni all of a sudden seemed to place them in the frontlines of an invasion and even promoted them to becoming advanced troops? An invasion is a very serious thing, so unless Giovanni completely lost his marbles and more by this point, I kinda doubt JJM will be the comic relief this time around, or even if they were, they'd still be very serious villains now. Yes, Giovanni did dispatch them to Hoenn and Sinnoh, but the differences between then and now is that: A. He usually sent them off on a fools errand because he wanted them out of the way, or that he simply didn't recognize them, B. They weren't tasked with a Rocket Invasion Force in either Hoenn or Sinnoh (for the record, Butch and Cassidy did not count), and finally, C. AG and DP did not mention anything in Team Rocket's bios that pertained to invading one of the regions or even being promoted. BW, on the other hand, did mention it.

Heck, the BW character art definitely does not show James or Jessie as even being remotely comical.

What was the deal with Team Galactic being mentioned while talking with Giovanni? Could it be that he actually believes (or in this case "knows" since they did) that they helped take down Cyrus and Team Galactic? Maybe that is why he promotes them to advanced troops.

    Interesting.

From what I can gather in the last episode of D&P Ash just arrives to the outskirts of Pallet and doesn't actually meet Oak or gain a reason to go to Isshu. However using the preview of the first episode of BW and Bulbapedia, in the first episode he'll actually be in Isshu on an adventure and meeting the new Prof.

So I ask this, where will be the customary episode where Ash arrives home, meets his mum, Oak and his old pokemon and gets informed of a new region before deciding to head there?

I will be peeved off if they try to do a botch job on it by having it in some flashback later on. It does seem though that in keeping with the recent trend established in D&P they are trying their hardest to remove as much references to earlier seasons.

I'm not one of those nostalgic viewers who cries out for Misty to return or for all his old pokemon to come back all the time but I would like some occansional references to earlier times rather than the denial there is at the moment. They should be proud not ashmaed; it's a symbol of Pokemon's age and longevity as well as a nice gesture to the long term fans of the show who have been watching from day one.

Ash moves to Isshu with his mum. They leave everyone behind! :o I guess it is, in every sense, a new beginning :\

EDIT: Which makes me think; why didn't start fresh, without Ash?
