Why your favorite anime sucks

We all have our favorite shows that we can go on forever about by singing its praises. We've also probably seen others hate on our favorite shows as well, much to our dismay. If that show were truly your favorite, however, then one should have no problem identifying and admitting its faults. Not sugarcoated faults either like "my fave character should've gotten more screentime" or "THIS is how it should've ended". ITT: Give honest critiques of why your favorite anime may not be enjoyed by all or might be fundamentally bad.

Why does Leomon always die in every Digimon series he appears in?!

From Adventure to Xros Wars, I have done my research.

    1. Leomon/SaberLeomon (Adventure)
    2. Leomon (Tamers)
    3. IceLeomon/Panjyamon (Frontier)
    4. Kouichi [has lion-like Darkness spirits] (Frontier)
    5. SaberLeomon (Savers)
    6. BanchoLeomon (Savers)
    7. MadLeomon (Xros Wars)

Lion-looking guys are like the Kenny McCormicks (South Park) of the Digital World!

    Why not? In no particular order;

    FLCL:

1- It's level of craziness is probably a deterrent to most.
2- Fluctuation animation quality. Intentional or not, it's still stupid.
3- Incredibly stupid idea for an OST. Pick one band and ONLY use its songs? Turn the show into a glorified music video?
    4- It's not funny.

    One Piece:

1- WAY TOO LONG. 1000 episodes? Someone's milking the cow to death.
    2- Too childish.
    3- Slow start.
4- Guy wants to be the very best. HOW ORIGINAL.
5- Beyond stupid. Some kind of stupidity black hole.
6- Completely out of place fanservice EVERYWHERE.
7- Facial expressions cranked to eleven.

    Cowboy Bebop:

1- How about having one big story instead of 24 little stories?
2- Edward has almost no place in the story.
    3- Tone depends on episode.
    4- Unsatisfying ending.

    Castle in the Sky:

    1- Too simple.
2- The villain is almost one-dimensionally evil.
3- Themes come down a little too blatantly.

    Gurren Lagann:

Sometimes, you just need to take a step back and ask 'Why do you need to go so over the top?'

Pixy mentioned it, slow start syndrome. From my favourites it affects One Piece, Utena and Gintama. One Piece also has it's massive recaps that eat into the episode, I know it reduces the amount of filler they have to put out but it's still annoying.

Some may say Serial Experiments Lain and too a smaller extent Paranoia Agent and Utena are confusing for the point of being confusing.

Pretty much the whole magical girl genre is unoriginal and too repetitive. The true slice of life genre (not those fake ones like Clannad) also suffer with this.

Clannad and it's sequel force emotion on you in places, not all of it but there is certainly a lot of melodrama.

Beck, Welcome to the NHK! and Black Lagoon are all too censored in comparison to their source material.

well, i love the digimon series, but i hate how all their "goggle-heads" (also known as their leaders) are all guys. i also hate how the formula of "leader and his rival-turned-best-friend have the strongest digimon" is constantly played out, and how their relationship and back-stories are made to shine more. it would be nice to see the other character personalities get the same amount of loving.

    Dear Pretty Cure,

*The "bad guy turns good" routine is getting a bit old, especially in Suite where everyone except the Big Bad turned out to be brainwashed. And yes, I saw that coming from a mile away.
*If they wanted to, the villains could easily finish you off during your big long transformation sequence.
*Why can't the smart girl be the lead Cure for once?
*Too many different attacks that basically do the same thing... defeat the monster of the day. It tends to get confusing.
*The higher up villains allow their underlings to rack up too many failures before going and getting their own hands dirty.
*Conquering the world is all fine and good. But why does every villain also want to drown the world in darkness and despair? How exactly would they benefit from that?
*Cute mascot characters are annoying. Just the Cures themselves would be perfectly fine, thanks.

Dear <insert slice of life show here>,

*Your general lack of conflict and action keeps only the most dedicated fans watching till the end. Fortunately, I'm one of them, but still...

My favorite anime is Welcome to the NHK, however it has dark humor and the animation can be very durp at times.

Rozen Maiden has problems with some cliche' characters, and the ending is kind of confusing for people.

    Elfen Lied

~ Ending left me at a point of anger.
~ He ended up marrying his cousin in the manga or something after all Lucy went through? wut...
    ~Storyline seemed too rushed.
~English voice actors made it sound sooo cheesy @_@
~ The violence seemed almost fake because of the little reaction people had to arms being ripped off o.o

Really there is no story. It's just characters doing senseless things for 4 and a half minutes.
Chibitalia bored me half to death.
It could be offensive with all the stereotypes.
Some of this history jokes can just go right over your head.

-The ending makes no sense. At all. It basically throws the weapon/meister partnership theme out the window. And how the hell is Maka running around with a crushed hip? o_e

    -Soul and Maka didn't get together. ;_;

-The characters are constantly getting mortal wounds, yet nobody dies.

I still love it. <3 I hope the manga ends differently, though.

My favorite anime is probably Nadia and the Secret of Blue Water. It's a classic, but it had it's flaws.

    • The dub was okay, but the lead male character had this HORRIBLE, HORRRRIBLE French accent.
    • The lead female character was a complete ***** most of the time, though she calms down near the end.
    • There was a good seven episodes of annoying, weird filler (It was a 39 episode anime)

    Still amazing, though

I'm.. gonna go with my two favorites, because one is older and as been my favorite since I was 13, the other is one that just aired barely two years ago. So. yeah. XD; I'm gonna do both.

    Fushigi Yuugi
    1. It's "old"!
    2. It's horribly, horribly shoujo.
    3. It's nearly a reverse-harem, which plenty of people hate.
    4. It's a longer series, with around 70-80 episodes, and plenty of people are turned off by anything that's more than 52 episodes.
    5. The dub is really pretty awful, so you'd have to stick with the Japanese audio, unless it was just to bash it.
    6. Some people say that the characters aren't built up enough, I suppose that could be true, so I'll go with it, but I myself see nothing wrong with them? They're built up until either the series ends, or they die. >_> (iffy!)
    7. "Miaka!" "Tamahome!" The two main love interests say each others names 30 times an episode.
    8. The character designs are very unrealistic, and colorful. Fans that prefer more down-to-earth series wouldn't be too pleased.
    9. It's corny, and dramatic. Enough said there.
    10. "I love you, even if we just met two episodes ago!"

That's what I've heard people say, and what I've realized myself, despite loving this series. XD

    Angel Beats
    1. This one is super short, could be watched in one sitting, and some people might not have time to even like it very much, let alone mark it as a favorite.
    2. Stupid, sarcastic humor are not some people's cup of tea.
    3. "WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?" It leaves you wondering that often.
    4. God help you if you watch this entire series, and are someone that hates J-pop.
    5. "THAT ENDING WAS BULL!" Surprise plot twists, they screw with your mind.
    6. "Otonashi is boring.." It's mostly the supporting cast that makes the series.
    7. The fans who watch it for the romance end of it have to wait awhile, or maybe just ship un-canon shounen-ai.
    8. Identity issues. It's genre seems to go all over the place.
    9. "brb shutting myself in my room and crying" This series, humor aside, doesn't have all too many moments of pure happiness, it's mostly bittersweet, and some might find it just depressing.
    10. It's animation team is KEY, which sits badly with some anime fans, apparently. -w-
    11. The dub is pretty horrible. Really. Really horrible.

    One Piece:

1- WAY TOO LONG. 1000 episodes? Someone's milking the cow to death.
I like that for one reason, the show still feels higher paced than other long animes like Naruto
    2- Too childish.
True, it could have been much better if the characters actually aced a bit normal every now and then.
    3- Slow start.
Didn't mind it, the filler arc with Apis was horrible though.
4- Guy wants to be the very best. HOW ORIGINAL.
    No comments here
5- Beyond stupid. Some kind of stupidity black hole.
True that, sometimes when it's not even meant to be funny -.-
6- Completely out of place fanservice EVERYWHERE.
Oh god, Thriller Bark was just... innapropriate
7- Facial expressions cranked to eleven.
I always liked this for one reason XD
    Picking up where you've left:

8- Animal voices are worse than horrible, like some 3 year old voiced them.

9- Match-ups are a bit predictable, I mean, most of the time, you can predict who ends up fighting Luffy, Zoro or whoever.

10-Sudden power-ups and new abilities. I hate it when they just learn/use a new technique in the middle of a battle. Without it ever being mentioned or anything.

11-...Can't think of anything else, will most likely edit this when I find something new XD

    Anime: CCS
    * season 1 drags on WAY too long.
    * Meilin is annoying as heck and completely unecessary
    * movie 1, while fun, is pointless
    * the English dub is possibly the worst adaptation in the history of anything ever

    VN: Fate/stay night
    * some people didn't like the cooking parts (I didn't mind, though; I felt it was well-paced)
    * horrible and unnecessary ero scenes (who needs ero when you have Tohsaka anyway, am I right)

OMG I love Cowboy Bebop precisely for those reasons! (Well... except the last one.) If I had to add why it sucks to those, I guess I'd say that it's very Westernized. The music is all derived from jazz/blues, there's a fair amount of English used, and there's little to no Japanese culture/history involved.

-Oh, how i love this show! Why it sucks? Well, It got cancelled!
-There is a homosexual scene which pisses me off.
Ringo had a bag over her face when she wore that sexy ass outfit Simca switched with her.
Ikki never had feelings for Ringo.
    Ikki was too overly confident.
    HUGE CLIFFHANGER!

    Pokemon B&W
    Ash is still 10
    Ash is a noob.
    Iris is ugly
    Clian is stupid.
Team Rocket is NOT funny anymore.
They still use that "Friends forever" crap in openings.

    Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
Ed didn't kiss Winry. (Hey they did have kids)
    Wrath didn't turn good.
    Greed's orginal voice actor quit.
Greed died and was reborn into Ling.
They didn't revive Trisha Elric as they thought. It made me think they made thier mother suffer a 2nd death, which made the story darker than it really was.
What was behind Hawkeye's tatto on her back? I never found out.

    Soul Eater
I hate Blackstar. Wish he died.
    Where's Maka's mom?
    Soul is "TOO" cool.
Why didn't lord death reveal his human form?
Hated how they killed the kishin. Has somewhat of a bad ending.

    Durarara
I haven't finshed watching it. But so far a woman is in love with her brother! WTF!?

    Sekirei
TOO MUCH BOOBS. NOT ENOUGH ACTION.

    Eden of the East
    Saki is too sweet.
Ending was cut short or the Anime was cancelled. Not sure.
Takizawa loses his memory for the THIRD TIME!
Action was insufficent. Too much talk.
No Ecchi! WTF! At least a side boob. Other than the blue haired lady.

This thread got me thinking: what the heck is my favorite anime? I realized I had none. I guess this is a side effect of being too unbiased. I'll just pick a random one off the top of my head and find faults in it.

    THE iDOLM@STER TV: The Cons
    >There was never enough time to show the characters' characters, much more make them shine.
    >The 961 Pro antagonist guy was really something, huh? It's like he was put in there just so there's a villain.
    >Makoto, the trapmaster. Really, she looks cuter in male outfits. WHY PUT HER IN DRESSES, SCUMBAGS?
    >I wanted more Yukiho, but I expected from the start that she wasn't going to get much screen time. They exceeded my expectation. They didn't even give her justice as a side character. Man.
    >Same case for Yayoi, but a bit less so. Yukiho got hit by this the most.
    >Why the heck didn't they put Match Stick Girl in OSTs 1-6? Oh, is 7 out yet? Nah, there's no 7.

I guess that's all... for now. I'll come back here when I feel like it.
