YES... OMG Heiwa should host the first PWT and whoever wins it should host the next PWT... If Heiwa wins, they can choose who to give the hosting rights to! :3

I think this could actually be a really cool thing. Regions could have a few representatives and they would battle it out on the server, and it could move on to the next region when it ends. Of course we'll need to end the current world event first. ;)

  • From my observations, it seems like this board shot off when it first started, but has started to die down.

I myself barely caught it when I was viewing the roleplay forums. It didn't really stick out at all and I barely noticed it.

What I'm proposing is that we find a way to advertise to the rest of the forums. The easiest way is to make it apparent in signatures and have links and such. With the winter get-together coming up, I was thinking that it would be a good idea to do something for that and spread the word a bit.

Indeed! It has entered a quiet phase - a lot of members who have been pretty active in the past have now backed off and moved elsewhere, we have a small group of dedicated members here too though!

Don't worry, we'll be having an event in the GT to advertise, show off, and invite new people in to this section ^^.

Awesome! I love the whole idea of this and I hope to see it all grow. I figured the GT would be a great way to attract more people.

  • yeah a lot of us have re-entered school since the board was started and many have jobs on top of that or full time jobs only or what have you and dont have a lot of time to dedicate to pc or writing so much. plus whenever a world event happens we all tend to shut ourselves away and write for it rather than post in regions. at this point we're waiting for regigigas part two to appear and be completed before adventure systems get back up and running. so once we get back in the groove of regular activity and updates it'll be ticking along again~

  • okie guys we got some ideas up in here. lets brainstorm.

    1) pokemon world tournament
    2) world-spanning evil organization??
    3) politicical drama??
    4) various rebuilding sagas
    5) WORLD WAR

so what im thinkin i wanna see is more inter-regional interaction like. okay. so what i'm currently planning is a multi-regional saga that will have written parts in three diff threads featuring four diff characters. there will be commected parts in aakor, sanctuare, the WPCNN, and maybe auria if it turns out its relevant haha idk what control do i have lol. but i mean I want to see stories spanning regions and tying places and characters together more than we do. most of what we have here is region creators telling their own stories with minor interactions from others. i want to expand and touch everyone in this web of madness or smthn

its like two hours past my bedtime im rambling ok

Yes. Yes. Yes. Unfortunately, activity is already bad idk if we can still pull it off

    Evil Org

Maybe. I'd like to see some damage happening in some regions...

    Political drama

I'd like to see some drama arise tbh

    Rebuilding and WORLD WAR

GOD NO I HAVE ENOUGH WITH IT AS IT IS.

Have I not damaged your regions enough. ;D

They're all terrific ideas! At the moment we need a way to pull people back and bring in a new crowd, so trust me - Dragon and I are brainstorming changes :L. Step 1: Take out the RPT.

  • I think to pull people back in we just need the activity to ramp up again. The explorable regions generate a fair amount when the minigame is running for sure. Other than that I think small group projects could give us a fair boost- like what Fox & Jay were about to do, a story collab between people, stuff like that. RP together in region threads. Run regional events. Or CYOA stories. There's so much we can do here haha.

Also can we expand the forum thread cutoff to be two months or smthn?

Honestly I think the more roleplaying people do the less active WOPC will come :x people go for RPT for roleplaying after all.

The game regions are certainly fun and faster paced, but it's finding new ideas for new members to post about more. XD.

I would say that what initially drew people here was the idea of making an interactive community, as well as being part of the creative process that is world building.

As a region owner, all I can say is that keeping your region active and relevant to your members is a hard thing to do... :(

  • Firstly I'd like to point out Raoga isn't as dead as it might seem to be here, it's still a thing going on back in Pokémon Trivia where it all started and to be fair the Choice Quest game has my main attention over the WoPC and as of lately it appears I don't really have the time to run both with full attention.

Okay, good. The low activity is a serious issue, and I can't deny I myself am to blame just as much as about everybody else (kudos to those few people who actually managed to keep stuff happening in the regions). The interactive and clubby part has completely disappeared over time and it's really hard to get that back, certainly when it's mostly centered on roleplaying, which has a section of it's own. Raoga actually does have a nicely sized group of members, which sadly can't be said of any region, but most of them are either not creative enough, don't have the time or simply lack interest to do anything that involves more work than can be done in 5 minutes.

Out of the mentioned options, the World Tournament and the evil organizations are my preferred options.
The Pokémon World Tournament might attract some more people from other sections and it makes the section more Pokémon related. As of now, it feels a lot like an expansion of the Roleplay Corner, where people roleplay with a region instead of a character. The problem still remains... how do we deal with Fakemon? Unless we also keep this just roleplay-y
Evil organizations are always fun! I don't think I've really made much use of Team Zeta here, besides giving them a logo, so that seems a perfect chance. It's totally a different thing to have to deal with than just legendary Pokémon, so that's good for a change. And a bonus, these teams can be shaped to own insights.

  • I mean that's a legit concern about roleplaying but like. when all the regions with minigames were running that was what we all were doing! RP interviews, scenarios, our adventures, all that! I mean they're not true RPs really as the RPT would see it but it's a less demanding roleplay style storytelling format. The minigames keep us checking in and updating and prompt us to write pieces with no min or cap but usually around 300 words per post; that's lovely! Heiwa was getting so much activity from that and Ceriah was made of it. Auria was on its way too. I think as long as the minigames are active the RP comes with, but we can expand on what we are currently doing with that medium.

I don't really know what's appealing to people who don't write or hack here tbh. What other things can we do with this board and our regions that would appeal? But also, do we want to change? The core group here is full of writers and we have ideas and stories and plans that we do want to play with, yeah? How will changing it up affect what there already is?

I really want there to be just straight up more content. I think the way to do so is in smaller installments, because many of us hole up in writing or procrastinate and never deliver. Smaller chunks is easier to bring out.

  • Could it be the points system? Maybe we should introduce a new awards system?

While I personally don't have anything against the points system, I know there are people who seriously struggle to keep their towns and/or Pokémon below the limits set by them. Additionally, it can also be (partly) the cause of the lack of the appearance of new regions. It's less appealing to join in on something that has a point system when there's people with thirty points already, which you never would stand a chance to catch up with for the rest of your life.
I kind of like the idea of an achievement based system, where you can get an badge or medal for special things like participating in events, winning a contest, reaching milestones and that kind of stuff. You know, like the emblems we have on our profile, but instead something to pimp your region with.

  • Few words from an outsider here, excuse anything that's totally nonsensical.

Skimmed the posts here and the World Tournament idea is really sticking out to me. I think it's a great way to integrate regions in a way that involves real participation. If this section becoming roleplay-esque is an issue then it'd definitely be welcome for people who aren't inclined that way (and fwiw, I think that if this is becoming RPC v2 then that needs to stop). Something that people can directly participate in will hopefully serve to bring about some more activity.

Regarding fakemon, I honestly think that regions which rely on fakemon to make up their Pokémon population are just gonna have to stomach having very limited involvement in a battling tournament or consider adding some usable 'mons. While it's obviously better if things can be all-inclusive, integrating fakemon for only the sake of regions that make heavy use of them is too ambitious - for both yourselves and for the Battle Server Staff - and something is better than nothing. Fakemon is something that's potentially planned down the line, but it's not something that we can put this section on hold for since it's clear that there are pressing activity issues.

I think that the evil organisation idea is really cool too. You guys could get into some really interesting dynamics there - what the organisation's activities in each region are, where their headquarters are based, etc. If you're thinking of going for the canonical Pokémon-esque structure (i.e., find legend get legend control world) then it could be very interesting to imagine how the evil organisation tries to capture and control each of your regions' individual legendaries. My understanding is that there's a limit on how many legends each region can have, so hopefully there won't be too much overlap and each participating region could have its own "subplot" going on. This is something that I definitely think could get some interest going in the interim while the larger issues are addressed, and something that could last much longer if you stick with it.

I think another thing to consider is that there's no 4th wall here. Skimming the replies just now I saw someone mention something about a "pokémon afterlife" or something like that? This is something you guys can make happen, along with pretty much anything else. Each region could have cool sorts of phenomena like that. Hell, if they were interesting enough, maybe you could even get some tourism going for each region's individual and unique features.

What I'm getting at is that the sky's the limit, and I'm getting excited just writing this post (unfortunately I don't have nearly enough time to participate, haha). Things that already exist in Pokémon - particularly, things that you can participate in such as battles - are good to build a base on but don't be afraid to do things that haven't been done yet. When we made this section we wanted to see what you guys can come up with when you're given just the concept of "pokémon" and... pretty much nothing else, haha. Things've been good so far for sure - the actual establishing of regions has been great. Now, you just need to expand them some, make sure that this is something that people can participate in and that people have a reason to check in on their regions every day. This is all about you guys making what you want to see.

  • What do you guys think of a region where everyone - the community, gets involved in creating and development?

We can create polls to decide what to do with it (ie, name, pokemon, political status, etc). Sort of like a... choose our own adventure sort of thing where everyone is involved!

Sounds like a really cool idea! It would be a great way to get the community as a whole involved in the process and showcase what we're all about.

I just hope people don't lose interest in the creative aspects if their ideas don't get picked...

Might be something we'll have to look out for! But maybe some private polls will work, and of course we'd make sure to at the very least acknowledge and appreciate all the ideas put forward! :)
