Dude, that's amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats!!!!!! Way to go - you're truly an incredible shiny hunter - a legend in our midst! You've completed the Yearly Quest with a whole month to spare!!

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas about next year's Quests, feel free to post here in the thread for discussion or message me! Did you guys like the tier system? Were the Monthly Quests good targets, or was getting three shinies in a month too much/too little? Feel free to let me know what you felt and we can talk about improving the format for next year if anyone has any suggestions or changes they'd like to see!

Thanks, though really if anyone is leaving the yearly one this late they will need some good luck!

Tier system was cool, but I know for me shiny hunting is seasonal due to motivation and real life, so maybe not 3 per month. Here is my idea for next year (feel free to modify of course!):

Yearly Quest - Gotta Catch Em All - Catch 30 (1 Box full) shiny Pokemon - No Chaining/FS
    OR
    Catch 60 (2 Boxes) - Chaining/FS allowed

And instead of monthly quests, do quarterly quests (3 months each) where you have to make a team of 6 with some theme:

    • All same type
    • All different types
    • Same as a Gym Leader/E4 (If they had a team of 6 they in any of the games - including rematch)
    • All 3 stages
    • All megas
    • All one stages
    • All evolve with stones
    etc

    Hooray!

I was Dexnav Chaining for a Shiny Gothita and on a Chain of about 280 Shiny Female Ralts appears.

Now a Shiny Female Ralts is a Shiny I have wanted for a long time but since I wasn't actually looking for one I did not see if it had notorious Shiny losing move Memento or Teleport. The Ralts was at Level 28 and whilst I did not see the sparkles the blue colour was unmistakable.

I looked in the bag and I had no Quick Balls. I threw an Ultra Ball, 3 shakes and out it popped. The Ralts then used Calm Mind. My Pokémon Azumarill was out of moves and I didn't want to risk switching my Hypnosis Gardevoir in and maybe missing with said move...

Knowing I didn't want to lose a Shiny form of my favourite Pokemon (Gardevoir) I threw my Master Ball. Turns out the Ralts did not have either Memento or Teleport in her Moveset...

I named her Rebecca, she has a Naive Nature and three perfect IVs (Atk, SpDef, Speed)

I maxed her Affection and won every Hoenn Contest with her as well as getting her into the Hoenn Hall of Fame at Level 85.

For me Shiny Mega Gardevoir may well be the best Shiny in the entire game and it is great I have one I caught myself. :)

Shiny Female Lotad(Lola) - Found DexNaving on Route 102 on a Chain of 130. The Purple colour of the Shiny surprised me. She is now a Shiny Ludicolo which is actually a Great Shiny. I like the Green Contrasts here.

Next Hunt - Shiny Gothita (So far 550 Dexnav Encounters and counting)

I hit a stroke of luck on WonderTrade earlier this week, with 3 shinies! Milotic, Chespin, and Flareon!

In terms of shinies I obtained on my own, I got a Zubat in a horde encounter, a Barboach by chain fishing, and a Ivysuar in a Friend Safari!

    I am content.

Thanks for the suggestions! But "lol," I think 30 shinies in a year is crazy hard! I know you did it in a month, but I'm not sure anyone else even comes close to that many non-chained/FSed shinies in a year! I know that the Quests should be challenging, but I think that 30/60 is a bit much for non-Paulthagerous shunters!

Or maybe 30 is reasonable? I might just be super behind, "lol."

I like the idea of 3-month Quests, since you can still take breaks and do all of the Quests! It was pretty much impossible to do the monthly ones and be free for all 12 months of the year, so this might make it possible for people to set personal goals of completing all 4 or something!

Woot, congrats!! Way to go on getting your favorite shiny!!!

I'm really in a shiny hunting mood recently. When I've sorted my new room out and unpacked some stuff I'm gonna start breeding for shinies again! 8)

Congrats on getting a new room! Any ideas on what the first shiny you'll breed for will be?

Yesterday I caught myself a shiny marowak in a friend safari. Named him greeny

So last night I was able to catch myself a shiny cobalion. I got it at around 500-ish sr's.

    Congrats on those shinies! "lol" at your nickname - my shiny Electrode is named Blue! {XD}

OMG IT'S DARKTORCHIC!!!!!!!!!!!! It's been forever!!!! I'm so glad to see you back! Looking forward to seeing what shinies you've gotten!

Congrats on those Machop - hopefully they'll be the beginning of a long run of amazing shiny luck to herald your return! :pink_boogie:

This years one required 25 by my count, including 6 legendaries (which you have to SR for) and SRing takes a LOT more time than horde hunting (take it from someone who has done both extensively!). But if you wanted to make it 30 include chaining/FS that would work as well, as both those methods are pretty easy/quick. AFAIK I am the only one who did the yearly quest, so maybe an easier one would be a better idea?

A couple days ago I was able to catch my second shiny Terrakion. It almost killed itself with struggle but able to catch it in a timer ball.

    Here be Grass Shinys.

Shiny Male Phantump (Forestanian) - Found in Petalberg Woods whilst DexNaving for Shiny Shroomish on a Chain of around 60. Phantump's Dexnav search Level was just 9.

He has 3 IV's (HP, Defense, Speed), a Careful Nature, Natural Cure Ability and was caught in a Dusk Ball. I had never seen a Shiny Phantump before so was very pleasantly surprised to see him pop up with the blue eyes and Orange leaves. He is now a Trevenant which is a great Shiny. It reminds me of a Zombie Tree. :)

Shiny Female Nuzleaf (Karen) - Found whilst wandering around Friend Safaris. I like the Red on this Shiny. She has 2 IV's, a Hardy nature and caught in a Premier Ball. Now a Shiftry which is an understated but good Shiny.

Shiny Male Lotad - Found during a chain of over 200 whilst looking for Gothita. He is now a Ludicolo. It is nice to see the Gender differences on the dancing Pokemon. I now have a Shiny form of both Genders.

The wait for Shiny Gothita continues, 751 encounters and counting.

Shiny Male Bulbasaur - For a Stantler. This the season of giving it seems. He is cute to play with in Pok?mon Amie.

Shiny Female Sneasel - Obtained in a trade for a spare Shiny Eevee I had. I actually really like how the colours go on this one. The Pink and yellow work really well I think. It is a bonus it is female.

Shiny Female Clamperl (Pearl) - Caught Chain Fishing on a Chain of around 30. I am pleased I did not find a fourth Shiny Remoraid. Whilst Clamperl is a good Shiny I evolved her quickly into an elegant yellow Gorebyss.

Next Hunt - Shiny Shroomish in Petalberg Woods.

Wow you are so lucky with Shiny's teach me your ways! The only shiny I got myself was shiny Oshawott apart from that I've always had them traded to me

I have a Shiny Oshawott I got in a trade. He is very cute in Pok?mon Amie. I don't think I will ever evolve him. :)

Chain Fishing is probably the quickest way to get Shinys for me but the options are limited. The best Shiny from Chain Fishing may be Dratini which can be fished in XY. My best Chain Fishing find is probably Staryu. One of my favourite Shinys.

Dexnav Chaining is pretty good as well but there is a chance you can chain for hours and get nothing or get something you don't want.

I got very lucky though with getting Ralts and Phantump whilst looking for other Pokemon. My favourite Shinys have come from Dexnav Chaining.

Friend Safari is said to be great for Shiny Hunting but I have limited luck in it although somewhat Fittingly all but one of my Friend Safari finds have been Grass Types. :)

I have never Masuda Methoded a Shiny but as Roselia is so hard to chain I may try Hatching eggs for a Shiny one in the New Year. :)

I evolved my Oshawott into Samurott and he is gorgeous. I find the de nav chaining very slow so I've decided to dex nav for shinies when I complete the game. And I've never tried chain fishing... On X I may take a break from breeding to try shiny hunting with the pokeradar. Seeing as I am breeding an awful lot I usually just hope that something will turn out shiny

    Spoiler:
    Spoiler:

I think Shiny Dewott is purple, not sure about Samurott. Thing is for me Oshawott might be too cute to evolve.

I have tried Pokeradar but am yet to find a Shiny by that method (Unless you count a lucky chain breaking Shiny Gulpin).

Dexnav can be slow if you are in a spot with many small patches of Grass but if you have a reasonably sized patch it goes quickly. Dexnav Chaining on water and caves I have never tried (The Dexnaved Pokemon move).

Leaving DexNaving until post game is a good idea as many more Pokemon become available such as Zorua on Route 101.

I am not a competitive player but Masuda Method is the best method for getting competitive shinys.

I've found using the pokeradar really difficult because my chain always breaks...

I've been hunting for a shiny Delibird in the Friend Safari but no joy yet. I'm not enjoying it as much as chaining or horde encounters as with those methods, chaining especially, I feel like I'm actually hunting rather than just wandering around and hoping the next encounter will be the one! If I'm successful however I'll probably change my mind!
