Hack Series: Pokémon Ruby Destiny Series

Hi guys. New to this forum. Just wanted to say, I love your games. I downloaded Ruby Destiny a few years ago and it was the only Pokemon game I could find which was both an original hack, and actually finished. So many of them were unfinished but tricked you into thinking you could still advance. I didn't know until now that there were more games in your series. Can't wait to try them all.

Some questions. When I played Ruby Destiny: Rescue Rangers before, I was able to make it all the way to the end. Yet this time, when I downloaded it again, since I lost my old flash drive that had it, I couldn't get farther than a certain point. After I defeated Regirock, I got my next mission, and headed into the Sinister Woods. Halfway through Sinister Woods, the MC "passes out" and wakes up in this distorted space with the legendaries of the game in front of him. I can't leave this area normally. Approaching them and talking to them does nothing. I can only walk two through two spaces. The Pokemon I encounter are Voltorb and Magnamite, at level 22+. After being beaten by them, I end up in the Land of the Dead with a Legendary at the end offering to bring the group back to life. After that, I end up in Fortune Valley. Halfway through my descent through it, it happens again. Same way. And I end up in Fortune Valley again. And again. And again. There's no way to leave Fortune Valley except by descending it. I have no idea what to do. I figure I downloaded a bad copy or a beta copy or something, but I'm not sure.

I believe that the glitch you encountered was caused by bad scripting on my part. I was still quite new to the ROM hacking scene when I was making Rescue Rangers that it was filled with bugs and glitches, hiding in the shadows and waiting for unsuspecting preyplayers. Ahem... Most of these game-breaking glitches happen when you get 'wiped out' in any point of the game. :/

I've been wanting to remake Rescue Rangers, but my focus is on Broken Timeline at the moment. So the only thing I can do is to apologize for the trouble the game gave you.

(But I strongly suggest you to NOT play RR if you don't want to lose your sanity... I am aware of how freaking annoying, difficult and rage-inducing RR is, and I sincerely have NO idea what was in my mind while I was making that game...)

I've been wanting to remake Rescue Rangers, but my focus is on Broken Timeline at the moment. So the only thing I can do is to apologize for the trouble the game gave you.

Now that's something I'd like to see. Rescue Rangers is still the pinnacle of ingenuity in ROM Hacking in my opinion.

cant wait until you finish broken timeline gonna replay the 1st and 3rd hack lol didnt really like RR that much but it was a really good concept but i just hate pikachu maybe if you ever decide to remake it and if its possible have an option of being charmander squirtle bulbasaur or pikachu but idk how'd that'll work but also thanks for the help on my thread also is ruby easier to hack(MOD)

He says that because rescue ranges is a very .... special case of a hack, and has some small technical issues, but despite that, you might find it pretty enjoyable like me, and it will give you the feels :)

I'd say so. It's a fun, unique entry in the series with a number of interesting design choices and concepts not seen in other hacks or even the other Ruby Destiny games. To this day it's my favorite game in the series for those very reasons, even if it isn't the most polished.

I don't know what problems you think Rescue Rangers had, but I can assure you that aside from that scripting glitch, Rescue Rangers is the best and most effort-filled Pokemon hack I have played. The creativity and smooth, glitch-less gameplay was perfect. I seriously enjoyed it. Pokemon has so many great ideas that can be incorporated into side-games, but all GameFreak cares about is mainline Pokemon and the Mystery Dungeon, which while good, wasn't as good as this hack. I prefer the turn-based gameplay. It was great to see this new take on Pokemon. Keep it up!

Out of curiosity, is anybody else having intense issues unpacking the rar file for the beta For Broken Timeline? When I try to unpack the rar file, I just get another rar file. All that's happening is the file cloning itself, and it's incredibly frustrating since I was really looking forwards to playing this demo...

Scratch that, it must be an issue with my file unpacker. I downloaded a different program and it unpacked the rar file fine.
