This one's another grindfest, except a bit more action-packed.

As a compromise before I get my hands on Huntail, I decide to catch a Carvanha and train the heck out of it until it became the mighty Shawn the Sharpedo. I then went on to stop Team Aqua from conquering the Weather Institute, battled May again in return for HM02 Fly, stare in disbelief as Scott tells me he passed May as she was storming off on her bike, and obtain the Devon Scope to get rid of all the annoying Kecleon that stand in my way. I also was able to find a point right before my next task where I could finally evolve Periwinkle the Skitty into the more able Delcatty. Although it may have been tough to consider, I thought I made the right choice in the end (The consequences will reveal themselves as I go along, don't you worry. :laugh-squinted:)

Winona, the 6th Gym Leader, turned out to be more annoying than I thought, and I lost to her the first time because of her :psy copy:ing Dragon Dancing Altaria, but I was able to overcome it the second time, and from there on, sweep her whole to claim my well-deserved 6th badge.

This is the point in the game that is more story heavy than all the other parts we witnessed so far, as Team Magma and Team Aqua are both on their last steps in awakening their respective legendaries.

My journey to Mt. Pyre is a bit of a stretch, but through it all, Daisy the Grimer evolved into a Muk of the finest quality, so that's a plus. I eventually encounter Team Aqua on Mt. Pyre, who have already stolen the Red Orb. Team Magma was already here long before Aqua and of course stole the Blue Orb. Either way, I defeat the few grunts protecting Archie before they all split with the Blue Orb. All seemed lost...that is, until one of the elders provided me a Magma Emblem that one of the Magma grunts seemingly dropped. With this new clue in my hands, I set off to prepare...by fighting May in front of the Lilycove Dept. Store and going on a shopping spree, of course.

Afterwards, I head off to Team Magma's hideout in Jagged Pass, which the Magma Emblem so graciously reveals. After going through a whole bunch of hullabaloo involving battling the grunts standing in my way of getting to Maxie, as well as evolving Vesuvius the Numel into Vesuvius the Camerupt, I find him awakening Groudon, and being surprised at its running away. In his disbelief and frustration, he challenges me to a battle on a whim. This battle is much more action-packed than the one on Mt. Chimney, but I still beat him without too much trouble. Maxie and his cronies then desert the base to try and locate Groudon. With nothing left to salvage, I leave the hideout, in pursuit of the whereabouts of Team Aqua.

After defeating Team Magma at their hideout, I catch Team Aqua stealing Captain Stern's submarine for their use in finding the ancient Kyogre. Naturally, my next step was to accost them in their Lilycove hideout, but when I actually got to the sub, it was too late; the sub was already prepared and was leaving for the search. After acquiring the Master Ball from the hideout, I left for Mossdee, the home of Steven, to challenge the 7th challenge.

Let me tell you, this one is probably the hardest gym leader(s) in Emerald. You thought Lv. 42 Solrock and Lunatone was bad in RS? Try having them backed up with a Calm Minding Natu and an extra powerful Claydol. My last playthrough of this game ended here because it was so difficult. However, this time around, I was more prepared, and beat them on the second try. You bet I deserved that Mind Badge.

After that, I catch Team Magma storming the Space Center in hopes of acquiring rocket fuel to cause Mt. Chimney to erupt (a brute force tactic if I've ever heard one). Of course, the grunts are cake, and when it comes time to battle Maxie, Steven joins me in the fight, with Admin Tabitha backing him up, and it turns out to be a really fun match. After Maxie and Tabitha are defeated, they question their motives, and realize that Team Aqua is in the exact same situation as them. Steven, after the event has ceased, gives HM08 Dive, so as to stop Team Aqua from fulfilling their "destiny".

I like how convenient this 10^th log is. I like to think that once we get to double digits, we've already gotten through most of the adventure, but all the juicy stuff happens near the end. Here, this is exactly what happens. So I'd like to go ahead and coin this phrase:

"Double Digits equals Double Trouble."

Alright, now that we got that out of the way, the Double Trouble I am speaking of is the climactic battle between Groudon and Kyogre. How did I end up here? Well, first I grinded a bit, obtained Harriet the Huntail, thus finally obtaining my final team, then decided on a whim to complete the Regi Quest. Afterwards, I stormed the Kyogre cave, but Archie beat me to it, and releases the beast onto the world. Now with both the gargantuan blue whale and the gargantuan red dinosaur fighting each-other in Sootopolis, all of Hoenn and possibly the world are in grave danger if they're not stopped. The solution? Go with Wallace to the Sky Pillar to alert Rayquaza of the unfolding events. Once I get to the top, Rayquaza immediately knows what I'm about to inform it and goes off towards Sootopolis to stop the brawl. Once I get to Sootopolis myself, Rayquaza soothes both fighters, and saves the world from utter destruction. I get HM07 Waterfall as a reward, as well as being able to see Maxie and Archie regret all they have done before they go off to set things right.

After that fiasco, I am finally able to challenge the last gym. tl;dr It was a cakewalk, and an easy ticket towards that final stretch of the game known simply as the Pokemon League.
