You just have to play a little different playing by yourself, that's all. It takes time getting used to and I don't like that feeling of "Well if I go down it's all over", but can't be helped.

As for CotD, I played that with someone (it was just 2) and we started at the top of the lighthouse standing at the zipline. And when things started getting a little uncomfortable we headed down to the ship. And then from there took the little ice path back to the spawn (well holding out in areas along the way). It worked really well. But I still miss the days when we just held down an area.

There's less zombies in singleplayer and if there's 2 people around the same area it's way easier to get boxed in or have the two groups block you in. I like playing with people (a friend and I got to like 31 on the first Black Ops zombie map (Kino der Toten) before his connection dropped. We were about done anyway), it's a lot more fun that way.

I don't like that there's too many open spots where zombies can come from. And I don't like running around the whole time. I guess it makes it harder and all around harder to camp. But I had a ton of fun just trying to hold down an area on some of the maps. Maps like Der Riese (last Zombie map on WaW), Nacht der Untoten (first zombie map on WaW), Kino der Toten, and a few others.

Nah, I just hang around the lander pad, the one next to the HD Flopper... or whatever it's called. It's not that hard once you get going, sure by the time the round is almost over all your ammo is gone, but the points you get out of that round you have enough to go to the box as many times as you want and then upgrade the weapon.

And yea I've played Shangri-La (well I've played all the zombie maps), in fact I was playing it today trying to get some Achievements for it. Not really fond of that map...
