Lol, border ain't out of style or maybe there out of style here idk. About the background, I normally I drop a dark colour from the render and then do a couple of smudge layers. I don't like getting a game stock background and putting it on, as it shows no effort. Also about the sig you linked...

The Jem one. I suggest you sharpening the focal and lower the opacity or bluring all and erasing over render then lowering opacity but still its a nice sig I like the the style you used.

The third is the best out of the four. I suggest you look at tuts for c4d uses and smudging.
