In that case, I do agree with you. I think it is one of the biggest tropes in hacking and I'm pretty sick of it tbh. When I see it happen my mind just instantly recognises it with the idea that a newbie hacker made it, no matter who's hack it actually is (Imagine if Harry did it. I think it would be the perfect time to say: Son, I am disappoint).

I guess you could say that I'm in the same mindset as you in a way. I definitely agree that it is far better for the protagonists to actually have something to do with the storyline and retain their characterisation (Maybe Silver becomes a recurring rival while he trying to hunt down Giovanni in your region or something) rather than just being randomly thrown in to get what little fanservice there is. Of course this is just applying your your average hack rather than any remakes :P. But what I would prefer to see and experience new rivals and NPCs than a rehash of the originals. If you want to use Red's OW and sprites, that's fine but basing him around a new character (i.e he isn't called Red) is pretty much a must for me.

You are slandering LP's good name I can live with people putting in old protagonists in their hacks, but I'll generally prefer hacks that have brand new rivals/ story-related NPCs instead of recycling Nintendo's. That battle against Red also freaked me out, it was very disconcerting :o

Dude, you should also add Ash and Gold and Silver and Kris and Brendan and May and Wally and Lucas and Dawn and Barry and have them all go to a tournament and you have to beat them all to win the title of 'Champion of all Regions' and then you battle Mewtwo and Darkrai at the same time blindfolded and then Giovanni comes and gives you Arceus because you are the holder of the one ring to rule them all and then Steven comes and challenges you to a battle to decide the fate of humanity and if you win you can also go to that island where the GB trading card game took place and then you win the game and retire to the Bahamas. I also love ROM Hacking because you can bring an amazing story like this to life :3

I had actully made a thread about the same thing before a while back which was approved, but it was in a diffrent section of the forum and it died when I randomly vanished. I would have just restarted that thread, but its been around 4 months since someone posted in it. And after thinking a bit it really wasn't the best forum for it.

Im not after every hack and every release, just pokemon hacks and the most recent releases I can find. Ton's isn't really a good word since I only have about 90 hacks in the archive. Some of them aren't the best hacks around, but are still worth playing. I'd say that around 20 of them are really good hacks, 60 of them are so-so (Good idea, bad execution or just a terriable idea that somehow came out good) with the last 10 being complete crap.

Anyway, think you can PM me the content? I'll proably try resubmitting one of these days.

I want to revive and host MOTM :)
