I don't think they will, but if you can get your hands on a Nyoko Power Pack, it will extend the battery life by many several hours. I have yet to get one, but I want to get one soon. They're about $30 CAD, so it's a bit of a bite, but it will save the 3DS' battery.

Well that's rather unfortunate. Well, I'd advise a 3DS. It has much more than a DSiXL, so it'd be a better pick. Seeing as I just got my GBA Ambassador games yesterday, they show that the 3DS is quite powerful.

Don't worry about the post count and you'll find the forums more fun, to be quite honest. You'll find that you might actually reach your goal faster if you're just enjoying yourself and following the rules and not paying attention to your goal. I was caught almost completely off-guard when I suddenly realized I was fewer than 500 posts away from 5000. (b'-')b

Oh, hey, I bet you didn't know that it's possible to get to 5,000 posts on PC in 12 months even if you only average 4 hours a day on the site over that time. (b'-')b

'cause that's exactly what I managed from July 2009 to June 2010. Most of that came from the DCC, though, and it was more active back then.

And I still managed to accumulate just as many posts in Other Trivia during that time. Because I'm insanely efficient like that.
