But if companies do fire some employees because they're forced to due to the economic situation, the fired employees will be their priority in hiring. And ahem, rich people pay for it, or at least the majority of the budget. And 1,000,000 would have died (figures from Sen. Tom Coburn and former Sen. Bill Frist...might be a tad high of an estimate, but I trust their words for now) last year because of poorer care given if those Americans were under a Canadian system, which doesn't cover as much special care. In fact, Americans have better cancer survival rates (and other diseases) thanks to the technology available that's covered. And that's not something to be proud of. Though that's the result of people getting health insurance from their employers as a non-taxable benefit.

Oh yes, I've seen that article once. It's thought provoking, but mentions only once who pays for it, and then ignores it in the rest of the entry to focus on "who gets covered." More Americans would have died under a Canadian health care system (for serious diseases such as cancer) because the treatment prescribed wouldn't have been as advanced under a universal system.

Perhaps you're right. Unfortunately, the biggest beneficiary of the Bush tax cuts were the rich, and that wasn't needed, I'll admit that. Still, it was a mentality thing.
