I use my Facebook mainly for IRL reasons myself, like if I miss class, or my friend and I are talking about hanging out. I haven't checked it in a few days though, so maybe I should consider doing so.

When it comes to my main team, I usually don't use the daycare, unless I happen to toss one in for offspring (my Reuniclus for example). However, if I'm trying to complete the Pokedex, I would toss a Pokemon into the daycare sometimes, and then perhaps go to train another Pokemon for a while...
