There were 4 members, and that's good enough for a club. Starting a new thread isn't going to attract anyone else.

The strict rules I was talking about was the pledge. We don't need a pledge! It's okay if some new member didn't read the rules, as long as they were civil and polite. I really don't like the pledge idea for this club.

I am listening to your concerns, and I understand what you mean, but I really think you're doing the club a huge disservice. There's really no need to make a new club.

Out of the current members, I fully agree that Runa should be owner. We don't have to officially name her owner if everything in the thread runs smoothly.

Inactive owners don't always cause the death of clubs!! Aaryn has been inactive since 2005, for all intents and purposes.

I don't want to fight you at all. We both want what's best for the club, and I really hope we can agree on keeping it. We don't need new things to attract new members - that's not what the club is about. It's about hunting shinys and enjoying talking about that with members of the club. We don't need activities since there are only 4 members right now, and if you look at the Groups forum you'll see that you can't expect clubs to have huge member numbers. It's fine the way it is, and few people browse the club forum anyways.

We can have activities and fun stuff without mentioning it in the first post!! We talk about them in our posts - besides, there aren't nearly enough members on the PokeCommunity site overall to have mass activities, like at Serebii. The club was the most active and popular on PC for over 4 years, without the first post being edited. (it was once in 2006, but the club did fine before then and long thereafter)

The club has been fine without the owner. It recognizes the need for new owners, and has changed owners many times. The people here are human - they care more about the club than just following the rules. I can assure you, Aaryn would be very happy if he saw us decide to make a new owner but keep the thread. Read his posts about LDD around page 212; he didn't mind new owners at all, if it was in the best interest of the club.

What I meant to say was that we could effectively have a well-run club simply by being active and posting - can't we just have a nice shiny discussion without needing strict rules? There aren't any spammers here, and everyone on PC (at least in the club) is decent and civil, so there isn't a need for owners. We can all get along.

I would still say that most people don't read the first post, evidenced by the people on Serebii. (I've read it multiple times actually, and I've read through the entire thread more than once.) Here, we don't screen members or kick out people who don't type out pledges in the first post. There's a basic level of respect here, making harshness unnecessary.

Also, the club has not been dead because the owner just left. The owner left in January 2005, and the club functioned perfectly fine for over 4 years thereafter because the active members could manage themselves, and everyone worked great. (The owner came back a couple of times, but never stayed. 2009 is just the last time he happened to come and check, but he was in no means owning the place then.)

And Runa isn't someone who came "just browsing," she's a long-term member who's dedicated to shiny hunting and dedicated to the club. Fufu checks here too, but he doesn't post because it isn't very active. We were just starting to change that this week, with you, me, and Runa all posting, and Chr. Draco usually visits every once and a while, and I'm sure he'd return if he saw our activity. The club is by no means dead.

I'm sorry, but you really are killing it. I really don't want to see all the effort that's gone into this by hundreds of people over the past 6 years go to waste.

No, please listen to me. We can be owners in the club without starting a new one. We can put the stuff in our sigs - no one reads the first post anyways. Come on, the thread's been up since 2004! It has so much history and all, killing it would end all those shiny stories. Please, just do me this one favor. I just ask this one thing, that you don't open a new thread and get the old one reopened. Just trust me.

No, no, no, no, no!!!!!!! Don't do it! The club is a testament to time; it's a complete list of past shiny hunts on PC! Part of why it's so much better than Serebii's is that there's only one thread, so that old members who come back (and yes, they do) know where to come. Please, please, I beg you to ask Luke to reopen the club. We don't need the first post, since the rules are already good and members lists are useless. DON'T MAKE A NEW CLUB!!!
