My strategy? Usually, ditch the starter, find another 3-form pokemon, and train it as a substitute starter.

Starters are okay. Some like Venusaur, Infernape and Swampert are actually good in battle.

Also, the Darkrai they give you through the event? It's obsolete because of Espeon with Magic Bounce going around. xD Dark Void would just bounce back and cause Darkrai to kill himself.

Well, there is this thread where you can type in your name and the person you want to be pairs with, post it, and that's it. When you break the pair-relationship thing, you repost...but take your you and your pair's name so it's not in the pair list anymore so the next one who reposts wont have you and that person anymore.
