  • There is the two of us, one of my friends (that's not on PC), and another that I know are interested, and I can probably get a couple of the Challenge Regulars to join in. They like doing stuff like this.

I think Nidoking would be the best Pokemon to use as a solo for a couple of reasons. First, you can get him really early in the game. As in, before you fight the first not rival battle trainer. That's always helpful. Secondly, he has enough early game attacks to easily gain levels (Basically all you need at the beginning of the game is Horn Attack). As soon as you evolve him to Nidorino, he can easily handle all the Rock types you fight with Water Gun. Thirdly, he is well equipped with attacks. He has access to Earthquake, Rock Slide, Strength, Surf, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, and Hyper Beam if you want it. Also, he is only weak to Water, Ice, Ground, and Psychic. There are not many Ground or Ice attacks being used at all in the game (with the exception of Loreli's Ice moves) so you really just have to worry about Water Pokemon (who you have Thunderbolt for) and Alakazams (being the only strong Psychic Pokemon in the game, but he has almost 0 defense, so if you're faster you can OHKO with Earthquake/Rock Slide/Strength)

Now, as far as charts and maps and stuff, I already have two very helpful things. I mentioned the map before, if you PM me your e-mail address I'll send it to you, as I don't know of any file sharing capabilities PC has. The other is a complete list of stats that all Pokemon belonging to gym leaders, gary whenever you fight him, giovanni, and elite four. I cheated and used an infinite masterball and a catch trainer pokemon gameshark codes, and then I wrote down the stats. I think it really is only going to be useful for like the speed of your rival's Alakazam/Loreli's Gengars. But hey, still useful.
See that's the beauty of how I'm handling this challenge. When the thread was started, a whole bunch of people signed up and started playing. Then they would say something like "well I didn't do it right because I've played for 45 minutes and I just got to Cerulean".

I've come to realize that the proper way to do this is not to play over and over and over until someone has a breakthrough and beats the time. I feel that we need to take a step back and strategize a little bit. For instance, I think that since you're not going to have much time to grind up a whole team up, you're probably going to want to just use either one or two Pokemon the entire time. That way, hopefully you can get high enough on just trainer Pokemon, and you won't have to grind anywhere. So, I spent about a month trying to figure out who the best Pokemon to use would be. I got it down to about 5 that I would consider using (Charizard, Blastoise, Nidoking, Kadabra, Lapras), But I really think that Nidoking would be the best. I could be wrong though, which is why I want some people to help me, because we could either all try different Pokemon, or all work together on the same Pokemon.

What I'm trying to say (don't exactly know if I ever made the point I was trying to, since I ate dinner halfway through this message) is that there's still a lot of work needing to be done, and a lot of it doesn't require Red or Blue. (Or you could get an emulator for when we need games).
!!!! My advertisement sig finally payed off!

A while ago, a PC user found a Guinness book of world records: Video game edition. He was flipping through it and found that there is a record for fastest playthrough of Red or Blue (1:59). He thought PC could do much better than that, so he sort of challenged us to do it. But, the threads for it died, and now I'm one of the only people that still wants to get the record, which, if we did beat it, would show up in the Guinness Book as "Pokecommunity" and not my name.

Project Alpha Fan was the name that the guy gave the challenge, and its what I call it nowadays. I've spent a whole bunch of time working on it, from various aspects (making a map with every trainer's Pokemon and how much Exp you get from them, item map, an in depth tutorial on how to figure out what Pokemon to use, etc.) but it is just too hard for one person to do. What I need is about 5 or 6 people all working on various parts of it. You still interested?
You don't even need an action replay to hack-check.. the most you can do with it is clone, get all items, and iv check.. Action replays are ..frustrating to plug in and enter cheats..
i don't have much to offer, i just have 7 badges in SS..
the best offer i can make right ow it just charmander, squirtle, chikorita, mudkip, chimchar, totodile, vulpix, skarmory or teddiursa.
I have three anyway. What I'm looking for is a Shiny raikou with a specific Hidden power Type. Do you know what type yours has?
