A little bit of both, it's an open world hack so if you fight Falkner at a higher level he'll have a more varied team, like an Aerodactyl or something. I'm trying to theme it based on type and the trainer's personality
Currently for my Crystal hack, I've implemented a new gym gauntlet system where you have to beat the whole gym in one go, as in, if you leave the gym the trainers reset. Because of that, they don't give money or exp, but beating the leader gives a lot of money and exp to the whole team

Just bought Spelunky 2 and I doubt I'll ever beat it. It's the same problem I had with the first one where I can't get a handle on how fast you move so I constantly fail jumping on enemies or attacking without running straight into them :(
Gotta say the one in Pokémon Red, just because it kicked my ass harder than anything in any Pokemon game, and then the one in Gen 2 for curing me of my victory road phobia :P

I've added 133 Traits so far, and have around 30 more planned. How much is too much?

It would be based on the pokemon. Traits would add another layer of customization that differentiates similar pokémon. Bulbasaur being part Poison could have some Poison-related traits, while Chikorita might have healing/defensive traits
I'm making a crystal hack that adds some new mechanics and largely rebalances all pokémon, and I'm thinking of adding something to replace DVs
DVs are pretty one note. They say "it's to make each pokémon unique" but since it's a number, the pokémon is either objectively better or worse based on...
