If you want to see the serious arcs, you can watch Benizakura (episodes 58-61. Or the movie. Same content with better animation) then Yagyu arc (episode 76-81), Shinsengumi Crisis arc (101-105), Yoshiwara in Flames (ONE OF MY FAVES. 139-146) then Red Spider arc (177-181). In that order.

But yeah, I think you like the show enough and can watch till episode 61 before you start serious arc jumping like I did. :p for now just go for 186-187, 98-99 and then continue from 10 till 61. And then watch in whatever order you want. :p except you need to have seen yoshiwara to understand red spider. Both are the best action heavy arcs of the series. You also get to meet Kagura's crazy brother.
