Ahh, I see. I'm personally not quite addicted, but you could say I'm not far off... xD;;

Totodile is a pretty nice Pokemon to use, so if you do plan on using it, I hope it'll work well for your team. ^^ I can only guess Umbreon will work its way in there, as well. xD

Generation II has always been a difficult game to level up in, mainly because of how low a level Pokemon are in the areas you travel to; pre-Mt. Silver, you don't really get many areas that have high-level Pokemon in them, and they all neglect fire-typed Pokemon with having Rock- Ground- and Water-typed Pokemon in the better places to level up.
I do find it difficult to level up in HG, sometimes. But that was mainly for the Pokemon League; right now, I'm semi-comfortable, excluding the feeling of being under-levelled, heh... ^^;;

Ahh, I see. Its actually been a similar situation with me, but being a portable game, I've always found at least some time to play it. I actually picked up both versions myself, but I'm only using my HeartGold, at the moment. I'll start up SoulSilver when they start doing Events that don't include the PokeWalker.

I started with the Pokemon I chose when I picked up Gold for the second Generation; Totodile. Though I did go with Chikorita in my Japanese playthrough. I think I went with Cyndaquil in Crystal, but I don't really remember...

Anyway, I'd plan out which Pokemon you want to use in your playthrough; since I chose Totodile, I picked Growlithe and Oddish to fill in for Grass and Fire.
