  • We can battle whenever you want, even with your current team. We just need to agree on a max level, like having all the Pokemon at level 20.

    Aaand, you know I can always give you a Feebas, right? Or Milotic, since you'll need to trade it with a Prism Scale for it evolve anyway.

    I don't mind, who says no to gifts anyway? But I just hope you didn't overdo it, I enjoy this as well :)
    Well, I'm glad then, I won't feel bad. I was just fearing that you wouldn't enjoy the game anymore because you'd think you're playing it wrong. Truth is that during a playthrough, I don't check my Pokemon's IVs and I don't really hunt for the best nature, though sure, I probably wouldn't use a Naughty Lilligant. I usually catch a Pokemon, and then check its page on bulbapedia to see its base stats, abilities and moves. If I like what I see, I'll train it. I was able to breed your Gothita with good IV in Special Attack because I have a few Ditto on hand to help out, but I only got those because I wanted to try out IV breeding after I beat the game. Funny thing is, I don't battle online at all, so I don't even test out the babies, and for the post-game battle facilities, I still use my main team or other wild Pokemon I've been wanting to try out.

    And you're welcome! What's your team so far anyway?
    You know, I've never worried about natures or stats or anything when I started playing White. I had no idea how Attack and Special Attack were any different, same for Defense and Special Defense. I only used type-enhancing items, like Charcoal and Magnet. I didn't use any status moves, I was really awful at coming up with move sets. In fact, I remember my Serperior having four Grass moves at some point. And I still beat the game and did just fine. So don't beat yourself down. So what if your Lilligant isn't Modest? She'll be fine. Plus, it'll make the game more challenging. And endlessly hunting for the perfect nature, or perfect stats can get pretty boring. So try out different Pokemon, do the side quests, fill your Pokedex, enjoy the game :)

    Anyway, you won't be able to breed until after you beat the game. Maybe that's when you should start worrying about all of this actually, since that's when the AI actually gets a little more intelligent and you may need that extra boost in certain stats.

    And it's no bother. Though I kind of regret I talked you into all of this, I feel like I'm taking away from all the fun :(
    I've wanted to use Petilil, but haven't had the chance yet. You know, you can also go for Timid (+Speed/-Attack) for her as well, to make sure she also attacks first, and actually a nature that boosts speed is always helpful anyway. Well, unless the Pokemon has a low Speed stat, like Ferrothorn or Snorlax, in which case it is a waste.

    It also depends on what moves you want to teach them. For example, Lucario and Arcanine both have very good Attack and Special Attack as well, so depending on the moveset you want, you can go for either Adamant or Modest. You can also focus on speed, like I said before, and chose Jolly or Timid. As for Electivire, Modest would not make a good choice, as his Attack > Special Attack, so you should give him Adamant instead, or something else that favors his Attack. Now, Milotic is actually a Pokemon that's able to take a hit, since it has good HP and defensive stats, so for her you can chose natures that would boost her defensive stats, while lowering Attack, like Bold or Calm.

    Though, you should know that you can't capture Feebas until after you beat the game :(

    And thanks, you too!
    I like Natures, it gives a little more depth to each individual Pokemon. Though you don't have to worry that much about it and IVs and EV training, the game is designed so that you can beat it with pretty much any team. The Pokemon in the battle facilities though, like the Battle Subway, PWT or White Treehollow are much stronger, especially the farther you advance.

    Well, the chances to even encounter a shiny in the wild are 1/8192. Apparently I've encountered 1134 wild Pokemon in my current Black 2 game, so I guess I have to keep trying. I don't even care about the coloration, some of the shinies are actually very close in color to the original, to me, it's about the luck part. It's funny though, 'cause I've encountered Pokerus in the wild, and that's about 3 times rarer than finding a shiny, so I guess I used up all my luck there.
    You'll figure it out eventually. I don't know, what do you see yourself doing?

    Pokerus is good, but like I said, make sure to keep at least a couple of infected Pokemon in the PC, because once it's gone, you can't spread it to your party anymore. Also, you'll notice that Gothita's Attack is going to be way lower than her other stats, because her nature decreases her Attack by 10%. Which isn't a bad thing, since she won't use it anyway, and instead, her Special Attack is boosted by 10%, and with the 30 IV, it should be growing steadily in the future.

    So Modest is also good for Petilil, as she is also a Special Attacker. You got lucky, I had to catch 15 Gothita before I got a Modest one to breed for you {XD}

    And what is that? That is so awesome! I've never had a shiny encounter, I think I would cry if I didn't catch it...
    Hmm, that's tough. I got my bachelor's degree in computer science last year and I've been working as a programmer for 2+ years. I'm glad I can do what I like, though sometimes it's hard. But like you said, it's the feeling you get after you get something difficult done, like making a tough deadline and being able to do the release in time. So what are you studying?

    Hehe, relax. Actually, I needed that Elekid, it's a White exclusive, and I don't think I had one yet. And stop thanking me, ok? I'm just glad to help, and trading is a huge part of Pokemon I think, I really like it, and it's nice to be able to do it, since I don't know anyone who plays the games in real life sadly.
    Don't be envious, I'm working 11 hours a day, plus a few extra hours on Saturday. And I thought 9 to 5 was hard, now I miss it so much {XD} But yeah, since this is going to go on for a few more weeks, our project manager was OK with us working from home.

    Nope, IVs, nature and gender are set upon receiving the egg. But I realized Gothita are 75% females, so you shouldn't worry that much. I can always breed you another one anyway.

    And you're very welcome :) And you hit the spot with that, I love Meowth from Team Rocket. I've actually started watching the anime from the beginning a while back, I should pick it up again {XD}
    Well, I'm working from home today, since I'm doing overtime. Yes, Saturdays too :( So anyway, I'll just be in the wifi room, head out after you're down with the Pokestar thingy, and we can trade then :)
    Oh and I didn't infect the egg with Pokerus in the end, so after I trade it over, I'll show you three of my Pokemon that have Pokerus. Just chose one of them, and then you can keep it and use it to infect any of yours, anytime.
    Congrats on beating Roxie :)

    Well, I sure hope this Gothita hatches female then. And I'm already in the wifi room, so you should head over there as wel. Nothing special for the 3DS, I'm using a 3DS as well BTW.
    Request accepted! You can ask away, I hope I can answer :)

    And no worries, I don't mind at all. It's actually nice to be breeding Pokemon for someone who will actually use that Pokemon, I did IV breeding before, but never used the babies. I'll have your egg in a few minutes BTW, so let me know if you're still on and can trade.
    Ah, Miau is fine for the name :)

    I'll be hunting for a Modest Gothita before breeding, so I can pass the nature down to the baby, so you can make the most out of that Special Attack.
    This is Pokerus > http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pokerus

    Basically, it doubles the EVs you get from battles. It spreads to all the Pokemon in your party, but it goes away after a couple of days, so if you want to keep it, you need to keep an infected Pokemon in the PC forever, and only take it out to infect the others. Just make it sure you don't have it in your party at midnight. Also, even though Pokerus is cured on a Pokemon, the effects will still remain, so it'll still gain double EVs. And it'll be marked with a cute pink face on the stats page.

    And no, the stats are set when the egg is received. However, I can make sure that it'll have 30 IVs in Special Attack, but the other stats will be random.
    Oh great! This is mine then: 0133 2243 4063.

    I'll let you know when I have your egg. Do you want me to infect it with Pokerus?
    Well, first of all, you'll need wifi, so you need to have a router at your home. And then, you just need to exchange friend codes with the person you want to trade with. You need the Pal Pad, in BW you need to beat the 1st gym and then do the side quest for Fennel, in BW2 you get it from the start. You add the person's friend code in the Pal Pad, and then you need to go upstairs in any Pokemon Center, to the middle counter. You'll connect to Nintendo's servers, and then you wait for the other person to do so as well, and then you can trade :)
    Hehe, it was only a year ago that I actually started playing Pokemon, and it was the same for me in the beginning, so I'm sure you'll get the hang of things really quickly.

    And no worries, I'm not looking for anything. I can breed one for you and trade it over, sure. Right now even, or in the evening, since I'll be working today.
    Hi, welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy it here! Saw your post in the quick questions thread, if you need any help trading for Gothita, I'll be glad to help :)
