I used to do this all the time. I don't recommend it though, it can sometimes be hard to get back into the game if you restart and lose your stuff.

lol, yeah I was. Today was my last day near a Wii for the week though. I gotta go back to classes on weekdays. Online matches really suck. You can rarely find a match at all, but when you do people rage quit every time.

No, each Pokemon you encounter has a 1/8192 chance of being shiny. So, the first one would have a 1/8192 chance, the second would also have a 1/8192 chance, etc. You're never guaranteed one.

omg, qft. I can't believe that they were so weak. I was pumped and really excited for the hardest battle up to that point. Weak battles is a huge factor that makes me not play as much Pokemon as I used to. I never knew about this one either...
