  • I am yet to give the post-game a spin, but I will definitely let you know when I get to it. I also forgot to ask this question when i typed out my feedback. Do you have any plans on giving Green a back-story of sorts or maybe further fleshing her out by integrating her into the expansion of the shadow Pokemon arc? I feel like she has a lot of potential to be more prevalent as a character.

    Right so I kinda accidently hard-moded myself in a way I really wish was easier to undo. Because HM's don't require gym badges, and Mudkip can learn Rock Smash, I was able to take the side path in Diglett Cave to Rock Tunnel and completely skip all of Vermilion City. Problem is I now don't have Cut, am in Celadon City after grinding enough to get pass the trainers on the way there, but stuck at the Rocket Boss fight as I now need to grind high enough to handle their levels. It really feels like that ledge blocking you from traveling from the Rock Tunnel back to Diglett cave should have a space that you can rock smash open so I could go back and progress normally.
    I love this idea!, I've added a smashable rock back to help out.

    I'm not against the idea. I think the shadow Pokémon might have a good parallel story with hers. Both are on a path of redemption and becoming kind hearted again, so I might work more of her into the plot when I expand upon shadows more in the future.

  • Definitely, I can even see a shadow Mewtwo arc being opened up post the league when the character becomes champion, or even a Mirror B cameo.

    Big news! I think I've finally been able to find a fix for all of the battle animation crashes! It's a potential fix, I don't receive any crashes on my systems to be able to verify the fix on my end. But I'm confident I found the solution. If you update to the v1.5.1 version and still receive the animation errors, please let me know so I can continue to work on it.

    The Mewtwo encounter in Cerulean cave has been changed to a Shadow Mewtwo instead, and the wild Pokemon levels in late game areas has been adjusted as well! I hope you enjoy the new changes!

  • Ayee, congrats on the possible fix for the battle animations! This alone might be my reason to actually re-play through the game apart from the possible future of updated story content. Out of sheer curiosity, do you plan on adding the rest of the Sevii Islands?

    Yes I have some ideas in mind for them. I want to try and incorporate some of the missing legendaries and the battle frontier there. As well as using the Rocket Hideout there to try and work in some more shadow Pokemon story.

    It may not be for a while until I can add all of it in. I might just wait to release it all together as one big 2.0 update.

    What's the deal with the invisible barrier on route 4? I don't have a good team comp for misty.I want to backtrack to get a pickachu or something but i'm soft locked in cerulean until I beat her, which I'm not prepared for.

    That's how the area worked in Kanto. The drop down was always there and you were only able to return back after Cerulean. Once you get the Silph Scope later on, you'll be able to open that path.

    This seems so cool! I just gave it a download and plan to start tonight.

    Do you think future releases might include baby Pokémon in place of their evolutions early on? The newer games treat babies as regular Basic Pokémon now, so it was surprising to see Pikachu but no Pichu in Viridian Forest, etc.

    Question/Suggestion regarding rival team compositions from reading the trainers.txt (I always like checking my rival's teams so I don't overlap with them):

    The first suggestion is something I genuinely feel should be addressed balance + lore-wise, the second is purely personal preference.

    Again, this seems like such an awesome concept and I just have to say: including Mints and Bottle Caps as an easy to access component from early-ish on in the game is FANTASTIC. Thank you thank you thank you for that!

    Oh, one last thing: In the documentation provided, you didn't include an evolution method for Rhydon>Rhyperior. I'm assuming based on everyone else that it's Leveling Up while holding the Protector, but just wanted to make sure.

    I probably won't change babies to be wild encounters. The day care man gives you an egg with a random baby, and there are wild Ditto on route 5, so there's options.

    Rival Green's team changes the most depending on your starter, because she always gets the one you have an advantage to. I personally don't think Diancie is on the same power level as a legend, and I think the gem aesthetic kinda fits a thief.
    Blue's team stays mostly the same, but thought it would be a waste to not try and use some of the newer options to try and round out his team.

    Yes, Rhyperior is a level up evo while holding the Protector, I must have missed him in the changes doc!

    Respectfully, I do think Diancie with a BST of 600 (like Mew etc.) and Mega Diancie with a BST of 700 is definitely legendary status, though.
    If I could suggest Carbink in its place as they share typings, and also fits with the jewel theme. Carbink has a BST of 500, same as Alakazam, Gengar, Aegislash and other powerful Pokémon, without being a Mythical.

    There's also Mega Altaria or Mega Audino as other Mega Fairy types.
    I do see what you're saying, and it's true it does have a good BST. I've found through play tests that this didn't cause any balance issues for the player. By the time it shows up in the rivals party, you're likely to have a few good options for dealing with it already. I encourage you to give battling it a shot to see for yourself as well!

    I have no experience with JoiPlay myself, so I can't be much help with this. You're the first JoiPlay user to have this issue, so maybe it's related to control inputs you have setup?

    Yeah joiplay doesnt work anymore, tried to ask them on discord but no help. Been like this for weeks sadly.

    If there are other joiplay users in this thread that have it working, you could try asking one of them how they run it.

    I know some people have mentioned using it.

    Hi there! I've been a fan of pokemon since literally day one and I've been looking to try a gen 1 rom, this looks absolutely fantastic and I intend to play this in the future. Between producing the game to start and I've seen all the bugfixes you've been doing, you've clearly put a lot of effort into this; thanks for putting in all the things you have :D
