If they can't allow any individual hard-deleting without allowing all, that's one thing, but for this...

On my page, you are unable to see the soft deletions (go to at least page 2 or 3)? Obviously I'm sure you are only referring to soft-deletions, I can see any VMs anyone leaves on anyone's page. This isn't a bad thing, as PM would be for things only intended for the other user and no prying eyes. ;)

Theoretical question, then. Let's assume, because I don't know, that one month is maximum time to allow for new replies before thread is no longer allowed replies (BTW, forum could benefit from auto-locking add-ins or notes saying the user is replying to a very old thread, I've seen these used). Someone posts a new thread after 23 days. It's locked because of the other thread. Other thread is replied to 10 days later. It's closed for being a month old. Why not merge and save the trouble? :)

You can't hard-delete posts? Can you please suggest to the powers that be that users have the ability to hard-delete their own VMs that they accidentally post to their own profile? I have so many I've had to delete self-posting to myself. In fact, to keep one's profile clean, it can be handy to clean up old discussions; having the option only to soft-delete leaves quite a mess...

To clarify, leaving his thread closed doesn't tell people of the older thread that is still very much current news.

But that's my point. I answered his question on whether the news has already been brought up, question answered. I actually suggested a seamless merge in the report, and you could have just hard-deleted my reply leaving his as the last; I wouldn't have been offended, honest. :) Maybe there was no need for me to provide the link in the thread, but what you quote is a very similar thing. :)

So you'd rather dig through the entire page of threads yourself? :o To think I was trying to save you the trouble; this is the only forum I've ever been to where moderators insist that members don't help the unwary members in this fashion. That's why I still post to help members like that. Anything like saying "this doesn't belong here", "stop spamming", etc. I would just report.

Did you not see that I did report it? As I said in the report, it wasn't a mini-mod attempt, I just linked for the person's reference. That's not breaking rules.
