  • Okay I will do, your hack as always look interesting to me. :)
As of now animating this cretin tile set has been a real pain, your hack might be a good refresher. XD
It is hard to show that your hack/ a hack as a good story. Because either A: You keep it a secret for the player to find out, but then most people will have a hard time starting it/giving it a try, or B: You give the story away - right from the gecko, but then that ruins the game( Well for me personally, I hate it when people have the whole storyline/list of events mapped out in their opening post). It is this balance, that is very hard to come by.

I can ASM a little, I self thought my self, but it is pretty tricky for me at times. I am actually taking a class on assembly this up coming semester, so I am hoping that will help. I really do enjoy, the actual game mechanics that go into making a game/hack, and the opportunity it presents.
Hello, I saw that you made a comment on my member page/thing and it was deleted, so, what were you gonna say?
Oh wow, that is really cool, and to be honest I don't play to many hacks myself. The only ones I end up planing are the ones I helped with, or beta test for, other then that I would rather use my time to work on my hack rather than play one.
I just always find it interesting/funny how people vote. XD
I could see why they picked you, they want someone that has an opinion outside of gen 3
Yeah, that was really the only thing I was thinking about( Drastic Over/under ratings)(For instance if someone really doesn't like the hacker they would give their a hack a 0 just to mess with that hack's score/rating)
Side Note: I am actually curious as to whom will become the judges of this years HOTY and how they will score the hacks.
That sounds very interesting, seems perfect on paper my only concern would be people not be able to be objective. Which is something that can never be fixed. The only possible upgrade/change would be to minimize the impact of human flaw, which I see your system doing. . . so kudos. :)
It's possible at least for staff members to edit polls (as opposed to flat-out deleting them). It wouldn't be the worst idea to have the poll-poster be able to edit them, though- I'm not sure if that's something that's ever been discussed. You should bring it over to Ausaudriel:

As far as I know he's the tech head and if this were something to be implemented, he'd be the one implementing it. :)
Sorry about not replying - I forwarded it to gira and discussed it with him but never replied so please forgive me. While we're not obviously not able to do something like it in this HotY, it will definitely be considered for future competitions.

Personally, I think it could be good to have a different take on what has become our regular voting pattern and while your idea may not make it through in its current form I would like to try it out some time. I can't make a call on it by myself, but when we feel happy about using it and a suitable opportunity arises, I would definitely like to contact you and some other Emulation veterans to see if they would be happy with a new system. Nothing of what I've said is rock solid, but I would hope that this okay by you :)
No hurry, I was just wondering if you were done. If you want to finish everything first that's alright, just don't forget to send it to me lawl.
Don't worry about scripting anything story related, I just need maps/basic events like NPCs, signposts, and stuff. Probably. I'm still deciding exactly what I want to do and how to tie stuff together. I might need more later, but for right now that's all I need.
I saw your post. Glad you liked the uniqueness of it, and I can't blame you for finding hacks boring -- so do I xD. It's tough to make the story as involving as I wanted because, as you probably know, doing stuff all by yourself takes a long time and tons of motivation (plus my ideas were complicated >_>).

"I felt like I was going to fight some more trainers, probably run into an event with rival or similar until I have to go to face the next gym leader." That part's not true tho :I. Just sayin'.

More importantly, have you finished Granaldo City yet? You wanted that one to be included.
Sorry about that- I could only access PC through my phone yesterday and I find it not worth doing mod work on it, since it's usually more problematic than convenient. I went to lock your thread today but it's already done, as you know >.< Sorry! And belated Merry Christmas! :P
It happens when, for example, I use Sand-attack. It mentions that the foe's accurary is lowered instead of their accuracy.
Haha, I didn't mean it as approving a storyline; I just meant I don't mind knowing the story in advance, and if you were to say anything about it, it could go in a PM. ;) Even so, I already gather I'd get nowhere with that if I tried. LMAO

As noted in the thread before, I'm sure it'll all make sense. :)
Oh, there's always a way to do something in the future. I mean, if Ghetsis can bring Team Plasma back to life, I'm sure something is possible here as well. I'd put money on being able to find a way to branch a storyline into the future. :)

(And seriously, I don't mind storyline spoilers. If you want to tell me in PM, I'll keep quiet. I like knowing bits about the storyline in advance. Though some are best kept secret, too; did you get to the end of Route 2 in the Shining Opal beta? I recommend doing so and beating your Rival there...)
Point taken, I just figure there will be a lot of passes because it's a G/S/C remake (and then there are many who only play G/S/C remakes). What about a sequel, however? In the same way as Unova introduces Aspertia City and Virbank City, linking it to Castelia which remains the third badge in Unova, a new area could be created and the storyline advanced into the future. Not a remake, just a sequel using the same areas with possible modifications. Personally, I love doing remakes myself; the problem becomes that I know nothing about scripting. Places like that new city off of Route 125 can have changes made; they can decide to make the city more accessible, as an example, and put a path through the mountains in one of the areas. Another cavern could be closed off due to a collapse. Things like that. ;) Might need some tiling work, but I could totally do the mapping very quickly based on existing maps; if I even did one area each day, that's Areas 101 thru 130 in a month. ;)
It'll be the entire city, but none of the Areas connecting to it.

Don't share it just yet. I like to keep my stuff a secret until I've actually done anything. Plus I dunno if I'll include it anyway, that was just to show you my style kinda. What you could do instead, is check out my Hyetology thread (shameless plug ;D)
As an aside, I saw the Area 109 bit below. Please tell me you might want to do an Emerald hack of this quest once it's fully finished; I'd be one to help with mapping and such once we have a tileset. I could imagine a tileset like Light Platinum being used on a remake. It can take place some time after the original, like five years later, and the character from this is the new higher-leveled Champion. ;)
Ah, then you don't know how I play these games (the official ones too). I know every single storyline blockade in B/W. I literally explore everything I can at any time before going back to do the storyline things; for instance, when I got to Driftveil City for the first time, I was all over Route 6 training and went up to Chargestone Cave to see the spiderweb. Did the same with Mistralton, clearing out even the trainer at the base of Twist Mountain before being told to turn around (the Rival coming there later caught me off guard). And Tubeline Bridge? It was blocked at the end of Route 8 before beating Icirrus Gym.

Even now, playing Light Platinum (been taking a break to work on SoulSilver; all of Kanto now opened up and time to handle the Gyms in order, and getting Suicine after beating Misty), I'm doing the exact same thing. In fact, I even hacked my way into Drakebreath City there to do my mapping back to Route 414, and when I do return to the game, I'll be back in Serenity with no hacking (read: changing a few movement permissions) remaining to fight against the Electric Gym there, then to Route 413 (which is fully open to me now), then to the save at the end of the Route (currently blocked). I'm actually curious if another blockade has been thrown in to keep me stuck in the Snowce City area once I get to the point of playing that Gym.
