[Best Veteran March/May 2011] A new professor in town - Kanto Adventure PG13

(OOC: Thanks. And I didn't really extend the other two because neither them or Wurmy know many moves and I didn't want it to be repetetive...plus, they were poisoned. I figured that'd be enough...)

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

The pokeball froze and I hesitated for a second. "I...got it?" I walked up to the pokeball and picked it up. "Yeah. Sweet." I let the Numel out of the pokeball. "So, how 'bout a nickname? Does Eruption sound good?" I asked the Numel.

"Mel." Was his reply.

"Take that as a yes." I grabbed Wurmy's pokeball and let him out so I could check the damage. "Are you OK?" I asked right before the little worm began to glow white and changed form. "You're...evolving?" I questioned while she was still changing.

"Silc!" Came the excited reply from my newly evolved Silcoon.

"Awesome. This day just keeps getting better." I said cheerfully. "Now, Numel, you could use some training of your own. Wurmy, you could use a rest." Wurmy disappeared again and I stood up. "So, what moves do you know?" I asked the little pokemon while thinking about what Numel learn. "Can you use Magnitude?"

"Nu?" The pokemon looked at me, confused.

"Apparently not. So that means you should only know...Ember, Growl and Tackle." I turned and headed down the path with Eruption and Larvitar following me.

~~~
"Have we really been walking that long?" I wondered as we got to the entrance of Meteor Falls. I looked around and saw three Zigzagoon picking up objects a little ways over. "OK Eruption, your training begins. Use Ember." Eruption walked in front of me and the Zigzagoon turned to us, confused. Eruption launched his Ember attack which hit one Zigzagoon head-on while the other two evaded it. The Zigzagoon that was hit flew back a few feet from the move.
"Goon!" It cried as it flew back. "ZIGZAG! ZAGOON!" The other two yelled as they came in with Tackle.
"Dodge!" I yelled and Eruption moved out of the way, dodging one Tackle but was hit by the other. The third Zigzagoon that was hit earlier came back up, burned by the Ember. Clearly none of them were happy. "Larvitar, give Eruption a little back up with Sandstorm." Sand started blowing in newly created winds, turning into a storm. "Eruption, move in close with Tackle and then use Ember!" Eruption ran into the Zigzagoon, knocking one of them over, then used a close-range Ember that burned it.
"GOON!" The three cried in unison as they charged at Numel with Headbutt.
"Counter with Ember!" Two of the Zigzagoon were burned and none could see very well due to Sandstorm. Add that to the coming Ember and their chances didn't look good. All three Zigzagoon were hit and one fainted. The other two were startled by the move and jumped back a few feet. "Now Tackle!" Eruption charged in with Tackle and knocked out another Zigzagoon. The third one started to run away but I had Psy teleport and block its path. "Finish it with Ember!" I yelled as Eruption launched another flurry of Embers, sending the Zigzagoon flying. It was still barely conscious so Eruption finished it with Tackle. "Great job!" I cheered as Eruption walked back up to me. "You're pretty good!"
Well, I've made my decision. Even though I know this is probably the wrong thread to do this, I'm gonna ask here anyway.
Slls81, is there a spot that I could fill in this RP? My homework has receded again and I can start whenever, just give me the word.
Thanks!
@Nakuzami - Nice post, I need everyone to enter meteor falls together so I'm afraid you may have to wait a few days for your next post. No-one is too far back though, so hopefully it won't be a long wait :)
Kris gave Numel the nickname Eruption
Congratulations Wurmple evolved into Silcoon and learned Harden
Congratulations Numel (Eruption) grew to Level 9
@Sasuneuchiha - Yeah that's fine, I'll add you back to the OOC thread ASAP. See your VM's please :)
Leaving Lavaridge
Kliff entered the Pokecentre, placed Pan and Baker's pokeballs on the desk and procceeding with the usual business,
"Can you heal these two? I'll just go and get my things,"
He walked to his rented room, the one he never slept in. Still cursing at himself, he gathered his things and tidied the place up a little, before leaving and locking the door behind him.
At the desk he recieved his fully recovered pokemon in excange for the room key. Though he was surprised slightly by who he saw next, he knew he should have half expected it.
"Hello Lauren," he said with a smile, "Did you just get here?"
The red haired girl stood there, covered in dirt and looking quite ragged, "Yea. Spoink wasn't the easiest of things to catch, but I did it! Did you already get the badge?"
Kliff smiled coyly. The expression said it all for Lauren,
"Good for you I suppose. Well, I'm gonna stay here a while, go clean off in the springs. Care to join me?"
"No!" Kliff quickly protested. Lauren raised an eyebrow,
"It's not that, it's just..." he began to explain, "I think I've spent enough time in there."
"Suit yourself. Okay, see you later then I guess!"
The two waved as the parted ways again. Kliff felt a little smug, knowing he was that little bit ahead of his rival. Well, it wasn't official, but he considered her a rival.
'Just friendly rivals...' he thought to himself,
Bringing out his pokegear, he checked where he was bound for next. Route 135 - a new route by the looks of it, as he couldn't recall it from any maps of Hoenn he'd seen. The entrance to it was just to the West, not too far from where the centre was.
The route itself dug into the mountain rocks a little. Thin whippets of brown grass could be seen here or there, other than that, quiet.
After about 5 minutes of bored walking, Kliff heard a noise. Looking up, he saw the good old brown and white raccoon you see everywhere.
"Wow, a Zigzagoon. Haven't seen a million of those already..." It looked like the raccoon was growling at something else, however. Thinking it was probably another Zigzagoon, Kliff was about to walk on, but he was soon stopped in his tracks,
"Ratta!!"
From the rocks, a small purple rodent leapt out and in front of Zigzagoon. The two were locked in staring, before the fuzzy brown creature leaped forward for a Headbutt. The rat, however, darted to the side and behind Zigzagoon in a flash, before opening is mouth and biting down on the busy tail of its opponent hard with its large fangs. The raccoon cried out in pain before making tracks, leaving the victor his territory. The rat faced Kliff curiously.
"A Rattata?! They aren't found in Hoenn, are they? I haven't seen one of you since back home!"
Rattata tilted his head in confusion, before baring its fangs once more, signalling a challenge. It had defeated Zigzagoon, Kliff was next.
He grinned, "This should be fun."
[OOC: Not much happening, but it's something =D]
Sam stepped out of the large town. It had been an adventure, but he had another badge to his name…and a couple reasons to keep fighting.
"Travis…whatever could have happened did…and you helped me to get through it. For that…thanks, man." He whispered. After a lot of arguing with his friend, he had finally gotten back into fighting. He had realized that it was the only thing he could do…and if he wanted his other friends back he'd need to. This new route he was on, though, it was weird. Manmade routes always were. Still, they'd done a fair job with this one. Grass, but with rock walls yet. He just had to make his way to Meteor Falls now…maybe that would be where he'd finally meet these jerks, the ones who'd taken his friends.
He walked down the route slowly, as though to just see what was going on…or maybe in hopes he'd meet someone he knew. No one was gonna come along, though. He'd contacted Maple, she hadn't heard from any of them either. He felt more alone than ever. Not even Warren to lighten the mood. That was the real disaster in his mind. He walked down the path, really out of it. Little did he know that a rock slide of…unusual portions was moving towards him quickly. Rocks were crashing down, about to crush him, right as Sam finally snapped out of it.
"Heads up!" A voice yelled. It sounded…familiar, but Sam didn't have time for that.
"Let's go, Feebas!" he yelled, throwing the ball out. The fish appeared, flopping pathetically. "Use Secret Power, go!" Feebas's eyes flashed, and rocks shot up out of the ground, forming a shield of sorts. Sam grabbed the fish and somersaulted out of the way. The rocks crashed through his shield and stopped. Sam breathed heavily as the person ran down the hill.
"Dude, I'm so so SO sorry! I didn't think there'd be anyone out this early.
"It's no trouble ma…holy crap! Andy?!" Sam yelled. The boy's eyes opened wide.
"Sam. Sam Saruno…long time no see." Sam backed away slowly.
"You aren't legitimately going to come after me, are you? I'm only on my way to the Falls…" Sam commented. Much to his surprise, Andy laughed.
"Relax, man, I'm changed. I'm training Geodude and Graveler these days. I spend my time practicing in this route, it's good thanks to the rock walls. So, what ever happened to that ace team of yours? I don't remember a Feebas…" Sam looked down.
"There was…an accident. They were stolen…that's why I'm here. I'm looking for Team Aqua and Team Magma…wait, you said you're here often?" Andy nodded.
"Just about every day, man."
"So does that mean…have you seen a bunch of guys in red or blue uniforms?!" He asked eagerly. Much to his disappointment, Andy shook his head.
"Nah, no one like that that I can remember. Anyway, you wanna help me out? I need to train these guys…but these hills just aren't enough anymore. I only need to train a couple, so do you mind helping me out?" Sam took a second to decide; this could be an important battle, Andy appeared to be his friend now, right?
"Uh…sure, I could use a little practice. Three on three, then?" Andy grinned.
"Hell yeah! Okay, guys, I want you…you…and…you! The rest of you can keep going.
Have fun!" Two Geodude and a Graveler.
"Okay, you can pick yours, but let's do this, Feebas!" The fish continued splashing about. Andy grinned.
"Geodude, let's do this!" One Geodude rolled into the battle area. "I'm starting this off, use Rock Throw!" The Geodude scraped the ground to pick up some rocks and chucked them at the fish.
"Alright, use Splash to get up over them!" Feebas got up and over the rocks with a single powerful leap, dodging high into the air. "Now, use Tackle!" Feebas twisted and came down like a bullet at Geodude.
"Quick, Defense Curl!" Geodude curled up into a ball. Feebas hit, but bounced off. The only damage that would've been done there would've been to the fish.
"This is tough…rock defenses are gonna be a pain to try and beat down. Hmm…what if I take it down a different way?" Andy obviously heard this, as he started an assault of his own.
"Don't even dream of it! Use Tackle on the fish!" Geodude shot in like a bullet, aimed straight for the fish. Feebas flopped out of the way, but Andy wouldn't give up. "Keep trying, Tackle again!"
Geodude used another Tackle, then another, then another. Feebas was just fast enough to dodge the giant rock's attacks repeatedly, but it finally reached a wall.
"You've got it, use Tackle!" Sam had to think fast to get out of this one.
"Er…Secret Power! Try to turn it into a stream of rocks!" Feebas's eyes flashed, and sure enough, a stream of rocks shot out into the wild from a wall, smashing Geodude. The rock flew backwards, creating a fair sized crater into the ground. Sam grinned.
"Don't underestimate the fish!" Andy shrugged.
"You may have finally nailed a hit, Sam, but you still haven't managed to do much damage. I mean honestly, how the hell are you gonna hurt a rock?!" Sam scowled, that was an excellent point. How WAS he supposed to hurt a rock, when there's no water around to use. Wait…rock was weak to a few types. Fighting and ice were presently out of reach…and water wasn't around. Steel was also out of the way, but grass wasn't…there was grass all over the place here, and he was sure as hell gonna use it.
"Okay then! Feebas, do me a favor! Try and use the grass against him, bring it all up and smash the Geodude!" Feebas began to build up energy to do this, a big attack like this was gonna take him a minute.
"I'm not just gonna sit here and be a victim! Rock Throw!" Geodude scraped up some rocks from the leftovers of Feebas's previous attack and tossed them in one last attempt to nail the fish and take it down.
"Alright, go! Feebas's eyes flashed and about 50 feet back, all the grass in a huge circle just split from the ground and shot forward like bullets. The rocks thrown at Feebas were hit countless times and knocked to the ground. Geodude may have been tough, but it wasn't fast. The grass hit all at once, causing rapid damage to it. It struggled to stay up, but Sam expected that it would survive that. Now that its defenses were down, it was time to finish it. "Alright, use Tackle!" Feebas leapt forward and crashed into Geodude's body. This time, the rock could feel it. It moaned in pain then finally keeled over of exhaustion. Sam had done it! He'd taken down that huge rock. Andy grinned.
"I forgot how tough you are…well, won't make that mistake twice. Get ready, this is part two! Geodude, get in there!" He heaved the other Geodude back to the starting lines before another one rolled out.
"Hahaha…don't expect an easy victory, man. I'm tough, and don't you forget it!" Sam could really feel it now…he was feeling his fighting energy coming back.
"Yeah? Well take this! Use Rock Polish!" Geodude began to rub its body rapidly, and rocks began to fall off. It looked more…aerodynamic. "Now Tackle it!"
"Relax and use Splas…LOOK OUT!" The Geodude was faster…Feebas had been hit. The fish had been sent flying and crashed into the rocks.
"Fee…b…" it croaked. Sam closed his eyes. How had he forgotten? Geodude could get faster that way…and Feebas had paid the price.
"I'm so sorry, buddy…" he whispered, pulling out its pokeball and returning it.
"Come on, man! You're the one who always pulled those moves on me when I stopped paying attention. I was so sure you'd see that coming!" Sam looked up, a grin now on his face.
"Don't count me out yet! Let's do this, Fenrir!" He tossed a ball and the grey dog appeared in a flash of light.
"Yena!" it growled, snarling afterwards at the rock.
"Let's do this, buddy! Use Tackle!" Fenrir charged at the now much faster Geodude, who dodged.
"You're slow! Hit him with Tackle!" Geodude began charging. Sam grinned.
"Okay, Sand Attack, then dodge!" Fenrir kicked up some sand then jumped backwards. Geodude crashed into the ground, creating a small crater. "Now get it, Bite!" Sam knew the different typing of the attack would do something. Sure enough, Fenrir chomped down on Geodude's arm, causing it to shriek in pain.
"See? You can't beat me with only force, you'll need at least a little bit of strategy…" Sam commented. Andy grinned.
"Who said I didn't just let you do that? Now, grab it and use Rock Throw, toss it at the wall!" Geodude grabbed Fenrir and lifted him, tossing him with full force at the rock wall. Fenrir hit, screeching in pain. Sam scowled, Andy was a lot better than he'd thought.
"Alright then…use Howl!" Fenrir shook it off and howled to the sky. Sam could see him gain some confidence from this, it would have to do.
"I don't think so, use Rock Polish!" Geodude scraped off even more unnecessary weight, making even faster. This wasn't good, one more Rock Polish and it'd be as fast as it could be.
"Well then, we'll just keep using Howl!" Sam yelled. Fenrir agreed, sending out another howl across the land.
"You know what? Tackle it!" Geodude shot forward like a bullet. Sam grinned.
"Dodge left!" Geodude continued to shoot forward, but Fenrir got out of the way just in time. Geodude hit the wall, causing damage to itself. Sam grinned.
"Okay, now bite it and throw it at the wall!" Fenrir leapt up and grabbed Geodude's arm again with Bite. It then began to spin, faster and faster, before finally tossing it at a wall. Geodude crashed hard and then landed on the ground, shaking its head to snap out of the dizziness caused by crashing into the rock wall.
"Hit it! Go!" Andy yelled, causing Geodude spun like a top, nailing Fenrir in the process. The dog slid back, snarling at the large rock.
"How am I supposed to beat something that can take a hit like that? Hmm…I was able to use the elements before to win, but Fenrir's a strictly physical fighter. Wait…I've already used typing…what else is there?" As though to answer Sam's question in a very unorthodox way, a small rock fell from the top of the rock wall, landing with a loud thud behind him. That was it, the law of gravity!
"Geodude, go, use Tackle!" Sam grinned, Andy had given him the perfect chance!
"Alright, Fenrir! When he charges at you, jump off him and spin up into the sky!" Fenrir charged forward at the swift Geodude. With a leap, he was on top of the large rock. With another leap, he was in the sky. "Perfect, now head at it with Tackle!" Fenrir twisted in midair as to fly back at Geodude. With a loud thud like the rock before, Fenrir landed on top of the large rock. Geodude had felt that too, as shown by his loud screech. The rock plummeted to the ground, still shaking in anger. It swung its large, rocky fists in an attempt to get Fenrir off. Sam scowled, he was sure that the aerial tackle would finish it off.
"Go, use Rock Throw!" Geodude began to lift up some rocks to toss at Fenrir. Sam sighed; there was only one way to finish this thing off.
"Jump up and kick them back at it! Go!" Fenrir leapt up, and using its powerful hind legs, it kicked back the few rocks the giant boulder tossed at it. Geodude was stunned by the force of the kicks. "Now finish it, toss it over your head with Bite!" Fenrir bit onto the large boulder's arm once more (to the familiar loud screech) and slammed it into the ground. Geodude let out a cry of pain then passed out. Sam grinned; one more down for the winning team.
"Damn…I keep forgetting your shrewd strategies. Well, not too bad there, my friend. Unfortunately, I have my greatest Pokémon left! Graveler, let's do this!" Sam cringed. Graveler was quite different from any Geodude. Four arms and a much stronger body overall. It was also at least twice as heavy and looked to have just a little more confidence and a calmer air about it, making it a much greater threat overall.
"Hmm…Andy, give me just a second."
"Sure, take all the time in the world, man." Sam grinned. He walked forward and bent down next to Fenrir.
"Buddy, do you honestly think you can handle this one?" Fenrir looked at him, an angry look on its face, but it quickly shook its head. Sam nodded "Okay then. I need you healthy for later on. I never know what I'll meet on this path, and you're still the toughest I've got as far as pure nerve go. Return." He recalled the grey dog and looked up at Andy.
"Any particular reason for that?" Andy asked. Sam shrugged.
"Just need him healthy in case of emergency. Now, for one of the strongest Pokémon I have. Get ready, Andy, because I now choose…MIME JR.!" Andy was speechless.
"…crazy freaking champion…" Sam caught from the mumblings following. He tossed the ball and out came the small pink and blue creature, dancing about happily.
"Mime mime mime!" It spoke cutely. Sam smiled warmly, he constantly forgot about how cute it was.
"Okay, Mime Jr., we can take this thing! Game on, Andy!" Andy grinned.
"So this is how it ends, then? One on one, Mime Jr. vs. Graveler, a chance for me to finally take you down! Graveler, use Rock Throw!" Graveler lifted up rocks with all four arms and chucked them at Mime Jr. with amazing speed. Sam scowled; he hadn't expected such a dangerous attack from the get-go.
"Quick, use Barrier to defend!" Mime Jr. moved its hands about rapidly and formed a barrier. The rocks all struck, bouncing off helplessly, but Sam could tell that they were causing a bit of a mental problem for Mime Jr., as the small pink creature was cringing in pain, though it couldn't be physical.
"Go again! Tackle it!" Graveler rushed forward, though just a little slowly. Good, there was more than enough time with this one.
"Dodge it, Mime Jr.! Get up in the air with Confusion!" The small creature lifted itself up into the air with psychic power, flying easily over the much larger creature. Sam grinned. "Now get back in there, hit it with Focus Punch!" Andy's eyes shot open.
"You didn't just say…" he stammered. Mime Jr.'s hand became coated in white energy and it flew in, crashing hard into Graveler with its fist. The large rock was sent flying, crashing into the rock wall. Sam grinned; that move never got old.
"You have some weird moves on that thing, you know that? You're always surprising me with your odd techniques, but I must admit that it's impressive. Whatever, though. Use Tackle again!" Graveler shook it off and leapt at Mime Jr., who had no time to defend. The creature was sent flying, crashing hard into the ground. Sam scowled; its small size wasn't helping it out at all with surviving these more powerful attacks.
"Come on, get up, Mime Jr.! You have to! Use Confusion on Graveler!" Mime Jr. struggled to its feet and released blue energy, capturing Graveler in the psychic energy. Sam grinned. "Now toss it!" Graveler was sent skyward, flying high up. Sam grinned. "When it comes down, it's done." Andy smirked, he could obviously see something Sam didn't.
"You sure you don't wanna concede now, save yourself the trouble?" he asked. Sam raised an eyebrow.
"The hell are you talking ab…MIME JR.! LOOK OUT!" Sam screamed a second too late. Graveler shot down like a meteor, crashing hard into Mime Jr. Sam gritted his teeth. How could he have been so stupid?!
"Looks like that's game!" Andy yelled. Sam sighed. He pulled out Mime Jr.'s pokeball to return it when a mysterious thing happened. Graveler was sent flying again, crashing hard into the ground once more. Sam looked to see Mime Jr. stand up, breathing heavily, but still intact and ready to go.
"How did it…?!" Andy asked, but Sam had already formulated that. Mime Jr. had probably used Barrier at the last second. It had held off a fair amount of the crash, but not the whole thing. After Mime Jr.'s barrier broke, it was like having Graveler all on it from two feet. Still painful, just not as much so.
"Does that matter, Andy? All that really does is this! Use Focus Punch once more!" Mime Jr. focused all the energy to its hand again, creating the same white aura as before. It charged forward, smashing its fist into Graveler. The rock didn't even stand a chance, Mime Jr. smashed it. Graveler was out cold before it even hit the ground. Sam had done it! He'd beaten down all three Pokémon without any distinct advantages!
"…not bad, Sam. I'm glad I met you again." Andy walked forward to shake his hand. Sam grinned and accepted the handshake.
"I'm glad I met you again too, Andy. I'm glad you're doing something better for you now. Anyway, I've gotta get moving. I can't stand being stuck in a place like this too long. See you, man!" Sam walked away slowly after returning Mime Jr.
That was exactly what he had needed, a chance to take on an old rival and win. It reminded him that he still had some skill at least. Now he just had to make it to Meteor Falls…
OOC: I ARE BEING BACK PEOPLEZ! An interesting post...and a chance to insert random old character who I felt had gone too long without being here.
Happy now?
Warren paused as he left the gym. He could have sworn he'd heard someone whispering.
"Hey!" Okay, he hadn't imagined that one. Turning towards the sound, Warren found himself facing a narrow alleyway in between a couple of houses. Stepping cautiously towards it, he noticed a vaguely familiar silhouette hidden in the darkness.
"Eric?" The man glared at him in a mix of anxiety and annoyance
"Good, it's you. Maybe you can start explaining." Warren frowned.
"Explaining what?" Eric growled.
"Explaining why you asked me to meet you here first. Then we can move onto why there are so many goddamn police round here." He gestured round the corner, to where a couple of men were standing, grim faced, with a pair of Growlithes at their heels. Both were wearing long brown coats and, as one of them turned, Warren saw the flash of a police badge attached to his belt. Ducking back into the lane, Warren stared at Eric. This was bad.
"I never asked you to meet me here." Eric paused.
"Then who is this text from? The police?" There was a silent, momentary pause, then both of them swore simultaneously.
"How the hell did they do this anyway?"
"They took me in after I got off cycling road. I think they took the piece of paper with your number on it." Eric swore again.
"Great. Just great."
"Calm down. We're in the middle of town. They'll have come from Mauville, which is to the east. If we leave the town to the west, we should be able to escape them."
Warren looked out of the alley again. The two men were slowly beginning to walk their way.
"Dammit. Ok, you wait here. I'll distract them and you head towards the town exit, by route 135." Before Eric could reply, Warren stepped briskly out of the back street and walked up to the two men.
"Hey! You two!" They both looked up at him.
"What'd you want, kid?" One of them spat at him. Warren flinched, then continued.
"You're coppers, right?" The other man nodded.
"Well, I just saw some guy going towards the cable cars in this red outfit. I think he was one of those Team Magma guys." The policeman paused for a second.
"Sorry kid. We've got our orders to guard this street. One unit on each street. Otherwise the target might slip past us." At this, his partner elbowed him in the ribs.
"Quiet! You can't just spill the details to every civilian who walks past!"
"He's just a kid, what harm can it do?" He turned back to Warren.
"Sorry I couldn't be more help." The other policeman just spat on the floor. Bristling at the insult but aware of the danger, Warren turned around and marched back into the alley. Eric stared at him.
"Great work." Warren glared back.
"Okay. Attempt two." Quietly releasing Violet from her Pokéball, Warren held his breath. He hadn't wanted to test her loyalty so soon, but there wasn't much choice. She looked up moodily.
"Don't worry. No fighting necessary. I just need you to cause a bit of a diversion." Warren edged around the corner. Both men were facing the other way. The way they needed to go.
"See those two. Just keep them and their Growlithe busy for a few minutes, then get out. Rendezvous at the west exit. Got it?" Violet held his gaze for a second, then nodded, before jumping into the air. With a boost of telekinetic energy, she landed silently on the roof of the house they were sheltering behind. Warren looked over at the policemen once more, grinning in anticipation. Then, with a burst of energy, Violet landed in front of the men, quickly throwing one of the dogs to the ground. The men cried out in shock, while the other Growlithe responded with a burst of flame from its throat. Violet dashed to the side, then spun and leapt back to the roof, before psychically smashing a second story window and running down the street along the rooftops.
"Growlithe, get that brat!" shouted one of the policemen, all four of them charging after violet on the ground. Warren grinned.
"Alright, here's our chance!" Man and boy dashed out of the alleyway, heading through the town quickly and quietly. As they neared the main road, Warren skidded to a stop and peered around the corner. The place was deserted, except for another three plain-clothes policemen leaning against a saloon car. With their duster coats and trilby hats, they looked like something out of a bad gangster movie. At the end of the road was a small wooden gate. The way out of town.
"More of them. Don't they have anything better to be doing?" Warren looked back at Eric.
"I thought you were just a grunt. Nothing special. So why are they hunting you down so desperately?" Eric shrugged.
"The hell should I know? My best guess is that they aren't what they seem." Warren frowned.
"Meaning what?"
"Meaning that Team Magma might not be as big and as organised as we are, but they do have a few connections. They could easily have planted a few men in the police force." Warren glanced over at the policemen. Another Growlithe was lying down by their feet, next to a Numel and one had a Murkrow perched on his shoulder. The latter two were unusual among the forces, it had to be said.
"Okay. So now what? We just fight our way past?" Eric shook his head.
"No way. Like I say, they'll be police with Magma connections, not full blown thugs. We get into a scrap with them and they'll put out warrants for our arrest at the least. They might just call in their own corrupt reinforcements and outnumber us." Warren nodded.
"So we sneak past them or we leg it." Eric grinned.
"I think I know which to go for." He dropped a Pokéball which burst open, revealing a small, blue Pokémon. Warren stared derisively at the Horsea.
"Yeah, that's great. A plan would be better." Eric bristled.
"This is a plan. Smokescreen!" Horsea stuck its head round the corner and immediately exuded a huge cloud of smoke, covering the street. Warren grinned.
"Perfect! Let's go!" ignoring the sounds of the hacking coughs coming from by the car, Warren dashed forwards, closely followed by Eric, carrying Horsea.
"Murkrow, Whirlwind!" Warren froze. In an instant, the smoke disappeared as gale force winds sped down the street. Warren and Eric, caught like a Buneary in headlight stared at the three men. None of whom were staring at them. Following their gaze, Warren's mouth dropped open.
"Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh....oh no." Dashing down the street towards them, as fast as her legs would carry her, was Violet. And running behind her was what looked like an entire army of policemen with questionable ties to Team Magma. Many were accompanied by a Growlithe or Numel and the air was thick with Murkrow and Zubat. Far, far too many to fight. Too many to even consider fighting. Spotting her trainer, Violet let out a squeal of relief, then dashed forwards. One of the men between them grinned, spitting out the stub of a cigarette and grinding it into the dirt with a heel. Not even pausing, Violet let out a cry and instantly split into four identical copies. In surprise, the Numel let out a burst of flame at one, but it shimmered and disappeared. The real Violet shot through the man's legs and skidded to a stop at Warren's feet, spinning to face the approaching force. Warren gulped. Now what? He took a step back, towards the road leading out of town. That was a mistake. Guessing his intentions, one of the men shouted an order.
"Ember across the path!" The twenty or so Numel and Growlithe stepped forwards, firing a barrage of flames. Warren ducked, but the fire flew high over his head, landing on the path behind him and setting the gate alight. Warren swore as he leapt forwards. With a casual arrogance, the men began to surround them. Eric swore.
"So...I'm guessing this won't be a formal arrest." One of them stepped forwards.
"You guessed right. I already know you, Parker. But who's the kid? I didn't know Team Aqua had resorted to hiring rebellious teenagers." Warren growled.
"I guess I'm what you'd call an innocent bystander. Or maybe more like one of your victims." He stepped towards the man. It was beginning to dawn on him just how close he could be to the men who had stolen his team from him. Fear was gone, replaced by white-hot anger. The man grinned at him.
"Well, isn't this cute. The kid thinks he's tough." Warren took another step forwards, so the two of them were eye to eye. This guy was less than inch taller than him. That was probably why he kept calling him kid - to try and look a bit bigger by comparison.
"You might want to take a step back, before I get angry, kid." There it was again. Warren glared at him, raising his hands in a gesture of peace.
"Sure. I wouldn't want to cause a headache." Then, whipping his head forwards, he smacked the man right in the nose. Crying out in pain, he stumbled back, shouting something unintelligible and unprintable. What followed was clearer.
"Get them!" Now the fear was back. With a screech, the birds and bats wheeled and began to dive. The camels and the dogs took in deep breaths, flames flickering in their gullets. Warren stumbled back, arms raised and eyes clenched shut in a futile gesture of defence. Something brushed his leg and, without warning, a sickening feeling came over him, of being completely and utterly broken apart. He tried to open his eyes, but found he could no longer feel his eyelids, or his face, or any of his body. There was nothing, nothing at all. Maybe this was what it feels like to be incinerated. And then it ended. He could open his eyes. So he did. And what he saw confused him.
Warren was standing on what appeared to be a narrow, paved path, leading up a mountainous route. Flexing his fingers experimentally, he looked down. Panting heavily, there was Violet, with ah hand on his trouser leg. Her other was on Eric's. He too, was looking terrified. Warren bent down and looked Violet in the eyes, then looked down the path, to where he could see the flickering of flame in Lavaridge. From this distance, it looked like a model town.
"Damn...that was close." Warren looked back at Violet, who looked ready to pass out. The energy needed to move all three of them that distance must have been huge. Taking out her Pokéball, Warren held it up.
"Thanks, Violet, but you need to rest." She nodded, then disappeared inside the ball with a flash of red light. Eric looked over at Warren.
"We need to split up. Make our trail harder to follow." Warren nodded.
"I need to keep going on up this way."
"Then I'll head off the beaten track," Eric paused, then added, "And...thanks. It could've been a lot worse." With that, he clambered over the short fence bordering the path and began to trudge over the rocky ridges. Warren looked up at the cave system ahead. Meteorite Falls. Hopefully, it would be quiet there and he could get some rest. He'd had enough action today to last a lifetime.
Vs. Rattata
Kliff quickly thought of which pokemon he should use. But he really wanted to see if Baker would get along with him like he thought.
"Okay Baker, go!" Kliff tossed the pokeball, and Baker emerged, lazily observing the surroundings,
"Ready to work as a team?" Baker turned his head and grinned. I was likely 'yes' was the answer.
Wasting no more time, Rattata sprang into action, darting towards Baker at an alarming rate. The white streak it left behind it told Kliff that it was using Quick Attack,
"Growl! Then Tackle it when it's close enough!" Baker glared at Rattata, letting out a deep, gutteral Growl which, for a camel, was surprisingly sinister. Rattata slowed down just enough for the Numel to charge, ramming into it head first and sending the rodent tumbling backwards.
Kliff was grinning like a child - Baker was obeying him now! Rattata got to its feet and snarled, before using Quick Attack again.
"Flamethrower!"
Baker inhaled and then blasted a jet of flame at the rat in front of him. Rattata quickly darted to the side, dodging the attack completely, and ran into the camel, jumping and hitting it in the lower jaw. Baker groaned in pain while Rattata landed behind him, turned around and leapt for him once more, jaws open wide.
"Get out of the way!" Kliff barked. Baker, unsure of what exactly he was avoiding, threw himself to the side, just in time to see the purple rat leap through the air just millimeters away from him,
"Ember! Then Flamethrower once you've trapped it!" Baker opened his mouth, releasing a barrage of small flames that struck Rattata. The rodent cringed in pain, still snarling aggressively as the small embers hit its body. Gradually, the flames emitting from Baker's throat began to get bigger, and faster, until eventually, they formed one powerful stream of fire which blasted the rat back. The ordeal continued, however Rattata used Quick Attack to quickly dart out of the way and escape any further injury. Baker ceased his attack, and the two stared at each other momentarily. The rat began sprinting for Baker again, just as Kliff thought it would,
"Magnitude, Baker!" the camel responded by raising its front legs and thumping them down, causing the ground below to shake vigorously. Rattata tripped and stumbled at first, however regained pace, expertly weaving between the large chunks of rock that raised suddenly from the surface, jumping from mound to mound so as to avoid Magnitude as much as possible. With one final leap, it landed on Baker's face, sinking its large fangs into the 'tuft' on his head.
Baker began crying out, both in annoyance and pain, shaking his head madly in order to lose the rat clinging to it. His temper starting to break, he raised his head, firing a Flamethrower into the air. He waved his head about, the jet of fire moving around along with it, causing Kliff to hastily duck as it passed over his head. The trainer then noticed a large rock jutting out of the ground not to far from the pokemon,
"Baker! Do a head first Takle into that thing!" He shouted, pointing to the rock. Baker stopped breathing fire and saw the rock, he began running as he realised the plan. Rattata, still madly intent on causing pain to the camel, had no idea what was about to happen. Baker charged full force into the rock, head lowered, resulting in the rat being chrushed between the camel's skull and the rocky surface. It loosened its grip as it let out a pain filled cry, before slumping to the ground as Baker took a step back,
"Finish it with Flamethrower!" Kliff ordered. Flames began forming from deep within Baker's mouth, and with a bellow, the camel unleased the blazing attack. Rattata screamed as the fire blasted it at close range. Accepting defeat, the rodent mustered all of the strength it had left and escaped the inferno, sprinting in the other direction and into the grass. Baker had won.
Kliff smiled as he walked over to the Numel, "Good job." He held up a pokeball, "I have high hopes for you!" With a click, he retrieved the fire type and procceeded onward, leaving behind the wrecked road.
Shortly after, he could see Meteor Falls. He wondered what kinds of pokemon he would see in here, and how long it would take him to get through. If it was as dark as Granite Cave...
[OOC: Bleargh. Anyway, Magma war soon! =D]
@I Laugh At Your Misfortune - Great post! It's amazing how many of these situations Warren manages to get himself into! Somehow I don't think he'll get the 'quiet' he wants over the next few posts... ;)
Congratulations Ralts (Violet) grew to Level 14
@Zeph - Nice battle post, nice to see Baker and Zeph working together :)
Congratulations Numel (Baker) grew to Level 15 and learned Focus Energy
Racing towards a "hot" path
Morning came and David was in his bed resting after his battle with Flannery , eventually waking up , by the sound of his pokemon that were trying not to get bored. He didn't mind it , he got enough rest. David went to the bathroom and went to the sink , let some water to fill it and then washed his face , he looked in the mirror and went for his toothbrush. After that he went and put his jeans on , his t-shirt and his black hoddie. After that he returned his pokemon to their pokeballs while looking around to see if he forgot something. With his backpack on, he closed the door and went at nurse Joy thanking her for her help and then said goodbye exiting the building.
As he walked he found himself at the outskirt of the town and the start of what looked like a new route. David heard a talk between two trainers last night at the pokemon center about this newly installed route that leads to Meteor Falls , so he decided to go on this route next.
David started walking while looking back at the town where he got his fourth badge. He enjoyed his stay here , from the bath at the Lavaridge Springs , to Silcoon's evolution and to his battle with Flannery , the last three days had been very interesting and most of all relaxing having a bed to sleep in at night. Now David knew that he's back to sleeping in his sleeping-bag , the night-sky watching over him , but that didn't bother him, if it had bothered him he wouldn't have started his journey , also he liked spending time outdoors as much as he did inside.
Time passed and he was far away from the town , he stopped and sat on a nearby rock , he pulled out a sandwich from his bag , one that he bought from a vending machine from Lavaridge town and had a little snack. With his sandwich in his hand he let his pokemon out giving them each an apple. All of them ate their snack and then got up to continue their journey.
" OK so who is up to some walking?" he said to the three with an excited look.
But the response wasn't that good. All of the pokemon looked in a different direction and acted like they didn't hear David. It wasn't that they didn't like David's company but they preferred to sit this one out. David took his pokeballs and called his pokemon back being amused by their reaction , it was normal, sometimes they just don't feel like walking. He went on, following the path.
He walked and while he was passing by some bushes he heard a movement nearby. He got down a bit and looked carefully around. David spotted what looked like a yellow hump behind a rock. He got closer and as he leaned over the rock to get a full view somebody shouted at him.
"STOP right there , that is my Numel."
a strange looking man said.
"So this is a Numel." David replied intrigued.
Then David took a better look at the stranger. He was wearing a red dotted white shirt and a pair of black jeans. His hair was also red , being put in a ponytail. He was holding a lighter in his hand that he kept using over and over.
"Sorry I didn't knew this pokemon was yours." David said as he backed down a bit , trying not to upset the person.
He did thought of capturing a new pokemon , and at his first sight of Numel he wanted to get it but he had to resign with the idea that it was already taken.
"Well technically it's still a wild pokemon , but soon it will be mine." were his words as he trew a pokeball at it.
David was shocked "It was still wilddddddd." were his thought as he was watching the pokeball going towards Numel.
He had been fooled but faith was on his side as Numel pushed the pokeball back at the man. A grin appeared on David's face as he knew that from this point it's an even match. The stranger saw David's face that started to express his determination.
"Don't even think about it , it's mine , I saw it first."
"We both saw it, so both of us have the right to catch it, good luck." David said as he rushed to get close to Numel.
The man did the same but as they were just near Numel it ran away leaving both trainers to bump into each other. They got up and ran towards Numel had fled. The race was on, but one thing was missing…………NUMEL. The pokemon got away. The trainers went in separate directions looking carefully to see where Numel was hiding. As David went through a bush he got his pokedex and looked for Numel's description:
"A NUMEL stores boiling magma in the hump on its back. It is a hardy POKéMON that can transport a 220-pound load. It has served humans at work since long ago."
"So it's a fire type , now I'm more keen on catching it."
"Wingull come out."
"Winguuuuuuuuuull."
'Wingull search around the area for a Numel , it looks like this." David said as he showed his pokedex to Wingull.
"Wing…Wingull."
The bird flew up and started its lookout. David went on until he reached a river , he went downstream. As he wanted to cross the river he saw the man coming from the other side so David knew that Numel wasn't that way. He came from his left, the man from David's right and he searched the back route so the only logical way he had to go was forward and so did the stranger, only that they were separated by the river.
"So why do you want to capture Numel?" David asked.
"I'm a fire type pokemon trainer and I want to become as strong as Flannery."
"As Flannery you say , I just earned my fourth badge from her."
"Yeah right…" the man said with an ironic scent but that soon ended as he saw David's Heat badge. He got mad and started to run as fast as he could.
"That doesn't prove anything , I'll catch Numel and put you back in your place."
"If proof you want that's what you'll get." and David started running as well.
As the two were dashing along the river, a white spot started to fall from the sky, it was Wingull. The pokemon started pointing forward down the river as it saw something. The two trainers followed Wingull. The little bird had found Numel , it was on David's side of land. He had to act fast to get Numel before it would escape or before the other trainer could get it. David was at an advantage being on the same side as Numel , the other trainer had to cross the river which would take some time so David acted quick.
"Wingull use Tackle." David shouted.
Wingull went straight into Numel knocking it into a nearby rock. Numel got up on its feet and started using Ember.
"Wingull evade it."
Wingull was hit by a few sparks of fire but it focused and evaded the rest of the attack. Numel got up and started running towards Wingull. As it was near it, it lunched a Tackle but the bird flew higher in the sky out of reach from Numel , but the fire pokemon knew what to do. As Wingull was flying up its head was towards the sky not seeing under it , so Numel took advantage and used another Ember hitting Wingull. The bird pokemon started falling down without any control , it looked like it was just about to hit the ground but in the last second you could hear David's words.
"Wingull use Supersonic to spring yourself of the ground."
Wingull did as it was told and with a perfect timed Supersonic the pokemon was pushed back regaining its flight.
"OK Wingull we'll have to finish this quick , Water Gun." he said with a confident look in his eyes.
Wingull shot a jet of water at Numel knocking it again in a rock and this time keeping it there , being held by the force of the water. When Wingull ended the attack the fire pokemon fell down unconscious. David quickly took an empty pokeball and threw it at Numel. He watched carefully as the ball flew in the sky. The stranger got to David's side of the river just in time to see the pokeball flying. He had a really interesting face , it was a mixture of sadness , disappointment and anger , but he couldn't do a thing , the dice had been rolled. Numel was absorbed into the pokeball that landed on the ground. David waited anxiously to see if his capture was a success…
OCC: If the capture is a success i would like it to have the "Simple" ability. Also I would like an opinion about my writing so far just to see where to improve :) , any comment is accepted bad or good.
@Romdinner - The post itself was okay, but there were a few spelling errors which a spell check wouldn't have picked up (i.e. 'socked' instead of shocked). So I would recommend reading over your post before posting it, just so you can pick up these mistakes, as spell checks aren't always completely reliable.
Also, the battle could do with being a bit longer. I understand that it was a water type vs a fire type, but I would have liked to have seen the battle fleshed out a little. Having said that I'm going to let you have the Numel, but in future try to bulk the battles out a little :)
Congratulations David caught a Level 7 Numel
Double trouble
The pokeball was shaking, the two trainers looking carefully at it. Nothing else mattered, everything around started to fade, even the powerful current of the river was now just a raindrop for them. Suddenly the pokeball stopped, the two trainers regained their senses and the surrounding area was put into motion again. David was overjoyed that his catch had been a success, he rushed to pick up his pokeball. He reached for the pokeball that was waiting for him on the ground, but just as he was about to pick it something hit David's hand and then vanished along with the pokeball. David turned his back and he saw a little bird sitting on the stranger's shoulder and him holding David's pokeball.
"Looking for this?" the man said with a big grin on his face just to annoy David.
"You thief, give that back!!!!"
"Hold your horses, I just want to make you a deal. Let's have a battle and whoever wins keeps the pokemon."
"Why should I? I caught the pokemon fair and square, so it is rightfully mine." he replied as he took his pokeball back.
"Yeah I tought so, you're just a chicken." and the men turned back and wanted to leave.
David clenched his fist and while still with his back at the stranger he replied with a calm and sure tone.
"You think you're the best, but you couldn't even catch your own pokemon. As I said before , if proof you want , proof you'll get, but I won't go easy on you. I'll defeat you and keep my pokemon and silence down that arrogant mouth of yours."
"Oh so the chicken talked we'll if you're so determined to lose let's get started. What do you say we make things a little more interesting. What do you say about a two on two battle?"
"Fine with me, double the pleasure to take you out."
"Keep dreaming."
David put Numel's pokeball on a nearby rock and from that point both trainers went the opposite direction just enough to make a decent battlefield space. The river was flowing near them. Both trainers were looking at each other, David staying still on his position while the other one with a cocky attitude flowing through his veins.
"Wingull…..Beautifly let's show this joker what true power is."
Beautifly came out of its pokeball and stretched its wings a bit, then went to the right side of David. Wingull was already out sitting on his left.
"They don't look like much just like their trainer, Nuzleaf come out alongside Taillow and make them wish they never meet us."
"No fire types….interesting."
"Those ones are tired of searching for a Numel, but be sure these ones are as good."
David took out his pokedex and quickly checked the two pokemon:
"Taillow the tiny swallow Pokémon…….although it is small, it is very courageous. It will take on a larger SKARMORY on an equal footing. However, its will weakens if it becomes hungry."
Then he switched towards Nuzleaf.
"The wily Pokemon and the evolved form of Seedot…..a forest-dwelling POKéMON that is skilled at climbing trees. Its long and pointed nose is its weak point. It loses power if the nose is gripped."
"One flying and one grass type………ok enough lecture let's get this started."
"Well said….. Taillow use Peck on Beautifly. Nuzleaf you use Pound on Wingull."
The two pokemon made their move, each of the going for their target. Nuzleaf was running at a fast pace and jumped to hit Wingull.
"Wingull fly higher…….you too Beautifly."
Nuzleaf jumped and just as it was to hit Wingull , the bird pokemon evaded it. Unfortunately Beautifly wasn't so lucky because Taillow followed it and started to attack with rapid and repeated strikes of its beak. Beautifly was being hit hard and couldn't find a way to get out of Taillow's reach.
"Wingull help Beautifly , use Water Gun on Taillow." David said as quick as possible.
Wingull used its jet of water to knock Taillow from Beautifly making it hit the ground. Beautifly shook its wings a bit then looked at David saying it was ready to continue.
" Nuzleaf use Razor Leaf on Wingull."
The pokemon made its move and a lot of razor sharp leafs were headed towards Wingull. But just as they were to hit Winhull, Beautifly stepped in, in front of it, wanting to return the favor.
"Beautifly use Gust and blow those leaves away."
The butterfly started flapping its wings and in a matter of seconds a powerful blow of
wind sent the leaves flying in the river. Both trainers were trying to anticipate each other's moves.
"Nuzleaf another Razor Leaf for Wingull……Taillow keep Beautifly busy with an Aerial Ace."
In a matter of seconds both pokemon were hit. Taillow went at a high speed and just as it was in front of Beautifly it disappeared and hit it from the back while this time Wingull was hit by the sharp leaves. Both pokemon were sent rushing towards the river. They dived in it splashing all over the place. Then, seconds past…………….and nothing.
"Wingull , Beautifly help each other to get out." he shouted with all of his power.
The two pokemon were a bit carried away by the current but they heard David and by focusing and carrying each other they managed to get out. The water was cut and the two pokemon came out and flew up in the sky in front of the sun. The stranger tried to keep track of them but even with his hand above his eyebrows he couldn't keep watch of them because of the sun.
"Taillow Quick Attack on Wingull and Nuzleaf you use Pound on the other one."
The pokemon went towards their enemy but just like their trainer they were blinded by the sun making them lose focus of their attack.
"Beautifly use String Shot and stop them in their tracks."
A silky string came out of Beautifly's long nose. Taillow got its wings caught and fell on the ground near Nuzleaf that now had its feet stuck to the ground.
"Now time for some fun. Wingull use Wing Attack………Beautifly use Gust to propel Wingull into Nuzleaf and Taillow."
The gust went into Wingull making it reach a high speed. It badly injured both of the pokemon sending them rolling into a boulder. The two pokemon fell down and you could see a little crack that was made due to the impact. The pokemon got up, brushed a bit and were ready to get back into action.
"Try this on for size. Taillow Quick Attack again on Wingull and Nuzleaf a Shadow Ball for Beautifly." the man said with his vein from his neck pumping like crazy.
You could see that he was getting annoyed by the minute, he wanted so badly to beat David.
"Beautifly use your wings to knock that Shadow Ball back at Nuzleaf."
The insect pokemon hit it like a pro baseball athlete. It flew back and knocked Nuzleaf of its feet.
"Wingull you spin and use Supersonic."
Taillow was just about to smash into Wingull when it started using Supersonic and spinning at the same time. The waves formed a protective barrier around Wingull which repelled Taillow. The other trainer was filled with anger and frustration. His face was as red as a ruby.
"Wingull Water Gun on Taillow , Beautifly Absorb on Nuzleaf quick."
The jet of water went towards Taillow pushing it into the ground again just as the bubbles of energy were sucked out of Nuzleaf. It was now or never, the man knew he had to do something fast.
"Enough playing… Shadow Ball then use Peck on it." the man said with all of his strength.
Nuzleaf used Shadow Ball aiming at the sky. When it reached a decent altitude Taillow went and started pecking on it. The ball shattered into dozens of little dark purple balls that were heading like meteors at Beautifly and Wingull. The pokemon got hit and badly injured. They were both lying on the ground barley moving, but with an enormous effort and with the help of David's cries they got up on their feet and were as determined as ever to win this battle. Beautifly and Wingull were looking at each other waiting patiently for David's command , they knew that they would win only by working as a team and being in perfect sink all the there of them.
"Just give up already, you're pokemon are just about to faint , you'll make their day much better by leaving them to rest."
"Winguuuuuuuull………Beeeautiiiiifly." the two pokemon cried in disapproval.
"Well you can't say I didn't warn you. Nuzleaf , Taillow same combination once again."
Another shower of Shadow Balls were heading towards the two pokemon. They were coming at a high speed and couldn't be evaded.
"Same tricks won't win you this battle as you won't get us with the same thing again. Wingull use Water Gun to send Beautifly as fast as possible towards the Shadow Balls, then you Beautifly use String Shot to gather all of them and send them to their owners."
Just as David said Beautifly was launched into the air by the jet of water and then with a continuous line of silk Beautifly gathered the mini Shadow Balls forming an impressive mace. Then Beautiflye rotated the mace and sent it back into Nuzleaf and Taillow that went flying into the sky.
"Time to cool you down and end this once and for all. Wingull use Water Gun towards the sky…. Beautifly use Gust on the flow of water."
Wingull was shooting water at the sky that was falling down like a fountain, then due to Beautifly's Gust the fountain started to rotate and finally transformed into a gigantic whirlpool.
" Now finish them." David shouted.
Wingull twisted and cut loose of the enormous whirlpool sending it flying right at Nuzleaf and Taillow. The whirlpool hit them hardly along with their trainer, sending all three of them into a tree. All of them were lying on the ground over each other, every one of them being fainted.
"Great teamwork guys have a nice and deserved rest." David congratulated the two pokemon while calling them back.
David put his pokeballs at his belt, then slowly walked and picked his fair and proven caught pokemon. Then we went at the man and as he was regaining conscious he helped him get up.
"I think I made my point, you're a great trainer but try not to be so overconfident."
"Thanks." the man quickly replied as he got up.
Then he called his pokemon and left as fast as possible, as he felt bad for how he had acted but not before he pointed the way towards Meteor Falls and saying goodbye to David. David went to the river, washed his face a bit with the cool and fresh water then went back on the path. As he was walking he grabbed Numel's pokeball and called it out.
"Numel come out." he said with excitement.
A yellow pokemon came out, Numel looked around a bit then turned at David. Both were staring into each other's eyes until Numel broke the ice by shooting out a bit of fire at David. David backed down a little but then saw that the fire didn't touch him, it was just Numel's way of saying "hello".
"Numel???"
the pokemon cried being confused by David's reaction.
Then Numel went close to David and he put his hand on its head and started to pet it.
"Welcome to the family!" he said with a soft and calm tone.
Numel started to jump around David. Then David started walking with Numel beside him. The new pokemon liked David and started to be fond of him. After about two hours they could see a glimpse of Meteor Falls, it being at about ten minutes of walking, so David called Numel back as he didn't knew what to expect , but he was sure that he was ready to face anything that would appear on his path.
A new Professor in Town – The Hoenn saga
Alliances and rivalries.
The Pokéball shook once to the side, but seemed to stop in its tracks.
"C'mon..." muttered Andy, as he clenched his fists together.
It rattled to the side for a second time, but rather than reassure Andy, it simply made him more anxious and worried. It tilted once more. Andy's eyes flared open. He was so close to catching it now. Click.
The Slacker-Pokémon scratched its forehead. "Slak~oth..."
Andy leapt into the air. It had worked. Finally a capture where nothing had gone wrong.
Suffix seemed to show a little more enthusiasm than usually, but it was inevitably ended as he fell back to the floor, and entered a deep slumber. Andy picked up the Slakoth, and let him rest on his shoulder, as per usual. He leant down to collect his new Pokémon, a Slugma. He pressed the button on the Pokéball lightly, allowing the creature inside to take shape.
The Fire-type looked around blankly, and then gazed up at Andy, with a little confusion on its face. "Slugma?" it asked, although whatever it had said could have only been guessed.
Andy knelt down, trying to stay as little above the creature's height as possible. "Hey, Slugma. I guess I've caught you now..." he muttered. It could quite easily be awkward after you caught a new Pokémon, as many of them were less than willing to co-operate. "I'm going to call you... eh, he... Molotov." Andy continued, thinking it was the perfect name for a potential forest fire. The Lava-Pokémon nodded, although seemed a little hesitant of Andy and Suffix.
Andy wandered along the pathway with his new companion, hoping it would be a good time to gain Molotov's trust, although it didn't seem to do any good. Luckily Andy could take solace in the fact that the Slugma hadn't become violent.
"Hey, you!"
Andy spun to the sound of the voice, which came from the direction of Lavaridge, back the way he had come. The voice was clearly feminine, and as Andy squinted the voice became clearer. The girl was a year or so under Andy's age, being no more than twelve or thirteen, and her black hair was worn to her shoulders. She gave the impression of being highly impatient the way she was near enough sprinting down the street.
"Uh... do I know you?" Andy asked, a little confused about the person.
The girl took a few seconds to catch her breath. "No, but you were the one who had the gym battle with Flannery a couple of hours ago, right?"
Andy stared at her for a second. 'A fan perhaps?' Andy thought to himself, although even he knew that would be far from the truth. "Um, yeah. What did you think of the battle?"
"Well, I thought your Pokémon were lame and your tactics were pathetic. Flannery must have been having a really bad day if she lost to you. I could have won that match in half the time."
Andy simply stared at her, mouth open, astounded by what she had just said. Using the opponent itself as a shield was genius in his opinion, and Bella deserved to win the match. Andy was determined to show this brat who she was dealing with. "You may talk the talk, but the question is, are you ready to prove it?" Andy asked, obviously stating that he was ready for a battle.
"You're on." She exclaimed, as she took a few steps backwards (Andy doing the same) and then pulled two Pokéballs from her belt. "Go, Mako, you too Snowlin." She yelled, as two Pokémon formed. A Machop and a Swablu respectively.
Andy grinned, before motioning to Molotov to head to the stage. "As comical as it was to make that rhyme, it's not going to win you the fight." Andy stated, before nudging the Slakoth to wake him. "Suffix, you up for a double battle?"
He glanced over at his two opponents, as he waited impatiently for Suffix to ready himself for battle. Unlike most fights, he had already devised a plan for this fight. Assuming Molotov knew Ember, he could use that as an Anti-Air weapon to keep the Swablu at bay, while Suffix used his physical strength to fight back Mako, the Machop.
"I'll go first." Cheered the girl. "Snowlin, get around. Mako, hit that Slugma head on."
Andy stepped in for a countermeasure. "Moltov, shoot that flying piece of cotton-wool out of the sky with Ember. Suffix, take on that Machop with Scratch." He ordered, although this round would have to rely on Molotov actually knowing Ember.
Luckily, it did. A bellowing stream of sparks flew from Molotov's 'mouth', and flew into
the sky. The Swablu, Snowlin, gracefully avoided each shot, but it did stop the girl's plans from working. Suffix waddled in to slash at the Fighting-type, and the Superpower-Pokémon took it head on, and then countering with its own attack, slamming the side of its open hand at Suffix. A well executed KarateChop. The Slacker-Pokémon was thrown to the side, although quickly pushed itself back up using its minimal energy supplies.
"Snowlin, head it for a Peck attack!" the girl ordered "Mako, give Snowlin backup by Karate Chopping the Slugma too."
Andy could tell that this girl knew how to battle, but she didn't seem to consider one thing about Suffix. Never underestimate him, no matter how many times he might fall asleep mid-fight. Without any order, Suffix stuck his leg out in front of the charging Machop, causing it to topple and fall to the floor. Andy chuckled, but the girl simply glared at the Slacker-Pokémon. By the way that Suffix's attacks were actually working; Andy could only assume that the Fighting-type had the ability NoGuard, although that was still just a guess. Only one way to find out. "Molotov, Suffix, both of you, use Yawn!"
Both of Andy's Pokémon let out an almighty roar of a yawn, causing them to expel pink bubbles into the air. "Snowlin, move back!"
Upon the order, the Flying-type fell back to its trainer, successfully avoiding the Yawn attack. 'Note to self' Andy thought, 'A Swablu should make good target practise'. Unfortunately for Mako the Machop, a victorious dodge was not in reach. The point-blank range of Suffix's Yawn attack was impossible to dodge, leaving the Superpower-Pokémon tired, and sleepy. It too pushed itself up, but with considerably less enthusiasm to fight than it once had. "You think you can beat me with silly tricks?" the girl asked, and the simple answer was 'yes'. "Snowlin, use Sing."
The Swablu took to the skies once more, this time tweeting gently to itself. The tune was reminiscent of a lullaby. Not one specific song, but as if they were all combined to create the most wonderfully relaxing lullaby ever created. Even Andy was slightly mesmerised by the tune. Unfortunately, Molotov seemed to be facing something much worse. The Lava-Pokémon drooped its head, falling into a deep slumber. Suffix looked at Andy with a 'what just happened?' look, although showed no (additional) signs of falling asleep. This meant he wasn't instantly out of the game. A loud thump signalled that the foes Machop had succumbed to the music as well.
Andy smirked slightly, knowing that Suffix still being awake would annoy the girl. "So what? One of your Pokémon managed to ignore the song."
"I guess it's a one-on-one match for now then, eh? Suffix, Encore!"
The Slakoth raised its arms into the air and began to clap in a similar tune to the previous song. The Swablu seemed ecstatic that it was being praised because of its singing, and began to tweet the tune a second time, with Suffix feeling nothing. "Snowlin, stop it. Use Peck!" ordered the girl, although her Pokémon took no notice of the order, and continued to sing.
Andy had to just keep this up long enough for Moltov to wake. "Slu..." was all the answer Andy needed.
"Molotov, use Smog. Suffix, hold your breath and use Scratch!"
The Fire-type began to cough up a thick purple fog, which to humans simply smelt awful, but was deadly poisonous to Pokémon. Suffix kept to the order, covering its mouth with one hand and half jogging half waddling to the Swablu, before slashing it with its claws from seemingly no-where, allowing Andy to repeat. "Suffix, keep going. Molotov, add Ember to the attack."
Suffix took another swipe at the Swablu. It wasn't nearly as powerful as the first, but it left the Swablu to flinch, letting Molotov rip through the fog with fire. The Ember struck the Swablu head on, launching it backwards into a large rock. Andy was so busy dealing with Snowlin the Swablu, that he was completely oblivious to the raging (although metaphorical) storm. A KarateChop to Suffix's back caused him to topple, and the following LowKick caused the Slacker-Pokémon to slam to the floor. "Mach~op!" yelled the Fighting type, who had now awoken from its slumber.
"Yeah, how do you like that mister 'I'm so awesome'!"
Andy chuckled to himself about how much the girl thought of herself. "But I am awesome!" he yelled, as he motioned to Suffix to hit back with a low scratch. He did so, slashing his claw against the Superpower-Pokémon's ankle, dragging it down to the floor too. "Ember that Swablu, before it can take to the skies!" ordered Andy, as he noticed the Flying type preparing to lift off.
The creature took a few feet into the air before being struck back down again by an Ember.
"Swab..." it muttered, as the Cotton Bird-Pokémon collapsed, exhausted and clearly afflicted with a burn. The girl pulled out the creature Pokéball, returning it, and hoping it would allow the Swablu some well earned rest. "You knocked out Snowlin!? You're going to pay for this, Mako, use FocusEnergy!"
The Fighting type pushed itself back onto its feet, and tensed its muscles. A faint red aura radiated from the Pokémon's body, and it seemed to regain almost all of its energy.
"Suffix, try and block its attacks!" Andy ordered, as the Machop slammed its hand down with a KarateChop, which Suffix managed to block, although still taking damage. "Molotov, help out Suffix with Ember."
The burst off fire took Mako off its feet, which Slakoth responded too with a heavy Scratch. Andy was rather impressed with Suffix. It wasn't often that he had this much energy. 'Must have been the excitement of making a new friend...'
"Mako, get your balance back then strike with LowKick!"
The Fighting-type did just that, pointing its foot to balance out its stumble, and then swooping out the same leg onto Suffix's ankle, causing it to topple, but not without dragging the Machop with it. "Suffix, Yawn!"
Another point-blank shot was too much to take. The red-aura faded, causing all of the energy it gained to drop, leaving it exhausted, and knocked out. "B-but, wah?" The girl returned her Machop, before glaring at Andy. "That's not possible! If I see you again you're going down!" she added, before running at full speed back to Lavaridge.
Andy raised an eyebrow. "That... was weird."
"Slug..."
"Slak..."
It had taken a few more minutes before the trip along the path, before he had come across a sight to behold. Andy had known the area was mountainous, he had had to travel through a partially volcanic cave to get here, but something seemed different this time. For one, the side of the cliff was huge, and even then something seemed more ominous about it. Andy was still rather far away from it, but that didn't matter.
Something was going to happen, although he wasn't sure what...
"SLAAAAKOOOTHH..."
Meteor Falls
Description: A large, majestic and, for the most part, well lit cave, although it does get dimmer as you head deeper into the Falls. The most striking features are undoubtedly the two powerful waterfalls after which the cave is named. These waterfalls feed the large lakes which cover a large part of the cave's floor.
Many legends surround Meteor Falls. It is said that Lunatone and Solrock were drawn to the Falls due to the large amounts of Moon and Sun Stones the Falls were home to, and these pokémon stay to guard these stores. It is also said that powerful Dragon pokémon live in the dark recesses behind the protection of the caves powerful waterfalls, which has caused many trainers and collectors to explore the Falls extensively. However, very few sightings have actually been confirmed of these incredibly rare pokémon.
The final legend of the fall surrounds the Meteor from which it gets its name. Supposedly the meteor still resides in the Falls, and holds great power. Stories vary over the actual power of the meteorite, but it has become a part of the cave's mystique and legend... and has become a prized target for a number of collectors and organisations, despite it having never been sighted.
Team Magma
Team Magma seem to have taken over Meteor Falls. There are three Magma Grunts guarding the entrance Falls when you arrive (However Grunts don't tend to be the bravest people, and upon coming face to face with six angry trainers they may drop back inside where there are a number of other grunts... just sayin'). Inside there are a more Grunts searching the bottom floor of the Falls for Moon/Sun Stones to sell. The presence of Team Magma seems to have driven the wild pokémon into hiding for the time being.
The higher ranking members of Team Magma are all on the top floor, but you will need to get through all of the Grunts to get to them. Magma seem to have set up a temporary elevator alongside the waterfall in order to access the top level, but this in turn is guarded by one of the higher ranking officials on the top level.
The highest ranking Admin's seem to have headed to the very back room of the caves. Presumably in a search of the fabled Meteorite the cave is supposed to house, or possibly in search of the Dragon type pokémon that supposedly reside there...
I must stress that most of these members of Team Magma are mere grunts, and will not be privy to any information that could help you on your search for the stolen pokémon... but your characters don't have to know that ;)
As always if you have any questions or need anything cleared up, feel free to ask in the OOC thread :)
Warren paused as he stepped into the shadows of the cave of Meteor falls. The main cavern was just a little way ahead, down a short but winding tunnel. The trainer strained his ears as he stepped further into the cool passage. He could hear the faint roar of waterfalls, but behind that, he could hear low voices. Frowning, Warren tipped his head around a bend in the tunnel, spotting a flash of red cloaks. He growled. Team Magma were here too. Edging round the corner in near total darkness, he paused to listen.
"...just wish the admins would act a bit less high and mighty. Just cause they get to do all the important stuff on the top floor while we're stuck on guard duty down here." Warren scowled. So it wasn't just a couple of grunts. Another one sighed, then responded something quitetly - too quietly for Warren to hear. Then, like he was in some kind of bad dream, a clattering noise came from behind him. Warren froze. so did the grunts.
"You hear that?" Warren crouched low behind a small boulder. He was hidden from sight, but if they came to look around, he'd be spotted in an instant. A loud yawn echoed down the tunnel.
"Its a big cave. It was probably just some Zubat or something." Warren held his breath.Please, please, just go with that. There was a long pause.
"Yeah, I guess. Who's gonna bother looking for us here anyway?" Warren let out his breath, then looked back down the tunnel towards the entrance. So what - or who - had made the noise?
OOC: Well, fellow RPers, who was it indeed? :P
From inside the falls, Kliff heard water trickling along in a pleasant fashion. He picked up a stone big enough to clench in his fist and entered the large interior of the cave. Sure enough, he could see a waterfall in the background, however closer was a big pool of water, running from the falling cave water. Kliff hurled the rock, cringing as he realised the pool was further off than he thought, and that the object would miss. What was worse, however, is when he saw two men dressed in red hooded tops. Time seemed to slow down as he identified them as members of Team Magma, and the more chilling realisation that the clattering rock would alert them. Kliff frantically jutted from left to right, until finally choosing to dive behind large rock cover.
The rock hit the ground with a crack, and the Magma grunts turned to face it,
"You hear that?" one of them asked his collegue. Kliff slowly edged along the rocks, in an attempt to make some sort of slow escape, as something yawned down the tunnel,
"Its a big cave. It was probably just some Zubat or something."
"Yeah, I guess. Who's gonna bother looking for us here anyway?"
Kliff heard a sigh come from next to him. Frozen in his place, he turned his head, just as a familiar face from Lavaridge town did so too. The two faced each other for a second.
"Um..." Kliff thought hard for something to say in this sudden situation, "'Sup Warren?" He whispered.
[OOC: Kliff's guilty for all but the yawning :D]
Warren glared at Kliff.
"What's up is that you nearly got us both caught just now! There are Magma Grunts guarding the entrance to this cave and I'm pretty sure there's more further in. They've set up a proper base here." Warren paused, then looked around the corner again. Three grunts against the two trainers. It didn't look like a great match up, especially considering that they had to take them out quickly and quietly if they weren't to bring the rest of the team crashing down on top of them. Warren shot Kliff an evil look.
"So, you got a plan for these guys or not, then?"
"Well I don't walk into every cave and forest I see with a plan to take down criminal organisations!" Kliff hissed, "Although in this crazy region I probably should..."
The three grunts were still unaware of himself and Warren's presence, "Maybe some sort of sneak attack? Or I could try my luck with a Metronome, but other than that I can only see us fighting these three."
He paused, "Besides, who says we can't use all of our pokemon against three others..."
Warren grinned.
"Now that sounds like a plan." He peered around the corner again. The three men were still just sitting there.
"So...We call out all our Pokémon, surprise them, get rid of them and storm the caves." Warren looked over at Zeph and gave him a long, hard stare.
"Look...no offense, but this might be my one big chance to find out what's happened to my Pokémon. So please, for god's sake, don't do something stupid and screw it up." He turned back, and dropped his hand to the Pokéballs at his waist.
"Now, are you ready to go?"
