Like Super Mario 3D World? Then You'll Love____!

Have you ever bought a video game on where somewhere near the manual or something, it says something on the lines of, "Like the video game? Then You'll Love____!" Basically they are suggestions on you playing more different games, and sometimes just have nothing about those games.

So, have you seen something like this before? Have you played the suggested games? Where would this be more appropriate? For example, maybe two similar games that can be suggested to one another like Guitar Hero and Rock Band? Feel free to share all your thoughts!

I do see them on games, yet i dont read them too often as they mention games i already played or games i totally dislike xD

So basically they are pretty late with that advertising for me :P

Really? I've never noticed this before. It seems like a grey area in terms of copyright.

I've never seen this kind of thing, honestly, though it might just be me not looking through the game manuals often.

In today's world there's the internet, so I don't see much of a need for something like that. If there are, I think it's slowly getting obsolete nonetheless.

I think what this thread really needs to turn to is the game manuals. I don't think anyone really reads them or anything! So, no I have not. Seems like an interesting concept. I didn't think games would do this when they are competing against other games.

On the backs of game manuals I've seen advertisements for other games, but they are always games made by the same developer or different developers that had something to do with the game at hand. However as you said they sometimes have nothing to do with the game the manual is for, but that might be the only game project being worked on at that point in time.

I see these a lot, but they're mostly for games that I either own or was going to get anyways. I wish they would advertise games that I don't/didn't really know about. They're the ones that could use advertisement

This used to be a BIG thing, especially during the PS2/GC/XBOX era. Kinda miss it actually, and manuals in general. :( Early 3DS games have it, but I don't know if any of the recent ones do. Luigi's Mansion 2 has it though.

Can't say I ever bothered buying a game because of it though.

Um yeah! When I was like in 6th. grade, I started playing Halo 3 and fell in love with the game. From there my friends made suggestions and I started playing big mainstream franchises like Gears of War, COD, Battlefield, Killzone, Resistance. I was really hooked on COD 5 and trying to beat the story mode on Veteran for a while.
