Legends Of The Past: An Unova Journey
It's the morning of a long awaited day in Asperita City. Today is the day that you graduate from the local trainer academy and take that first step on the road to becoming a professional Pokémon trainer. Professor Juniper, who has moved her studies to the schooling town, has promised to send this year's nine graduates with a rare Pokémon and a Pokédex of their own, and in return all they must do is aid her in her new studies. These studies involve the research of the origin of Pokémon. In particular, her interest has been increased upon the discovery of nine special stones which are now situated in the museum of Nacrene City. She believes that these stones are somehow connected to those nine rare Pokémon that she has given out, and would like your assistance in discovering the secrets to these stones.
However, this journey may not be without its dangers. From the shadows of Unova, a powerful movement in the form of an organization known as Plasma has begun to rise. They are starting to spread word of Pokémon liberation, a movement that involves separating Pokémon from their trainers and returning the creatures back into the wild. Over time, this movement is slowly starting to gain power and popularity, almost to the point that the movement has started to resemble a cult of sorts. Rumors have been circulating that the organization of Plasma have been resulting to some rather dark methods to complete their goals, including theft, exploitation, and terrorism. However, none of these suspicions have been able to be proven. Further rumor has speculated that the leader of the movement has started to take interest in the history of Pokémon as well...
Is there an actual connection between Professor Juniper's study and Plasma's actions? As you journey across the Unova region, will you take on the league challenge? Will you bury yourself in Professor Juniper's research? Maybe you have some other personal goal in mind... There are so many possibilities, all of which can only be discovered by you!

~How The RP Works~
Each area in the region will be presented as a chapter! In each chapter, you will be presented with various missions and events. It is impossible to do them all, so your job will be choosing the events that will shape and challenge your character. Each chapter will also contain setting information and a list of Pokémon available for capture.
Joint-posting is highly encouraged! This is especially true for trainers who happen to be embarking in the same events and missions. JPing can be done through multiple means, either through PMs or using sites such as Piratepad and Titanpad. This method is being used so one does not have to constantly post alone, making things more enjoyable (hopefully) for everyone!
There are no levels for your Pokémon! Rather than the players worrying about how strong their Pokémon is than other players, I'd rather them focus on the journey and writing as opposed to levels. It will be up to you to determine how your Pokémon are growing, when you think they are ready to evolve, and when you would like them to learn a new move. The only thing I ask is that you send me a PM when you think you are ready to have a Pokémon evolve. This is so we can avoid things like a Charizard at the first gym.
There is no need to wait for GM approval when catching a new Pokémon! You can battle wild Pokémon, befriend them, or trade with NPCs/other players. Take note that NPCs will only trade Pokémon that were available in previous chapters though. Available Pokémon and their default moves will be posted at the start of each chapter.
For those who are curious... The events of White/Black and White2/Black2 have not occurred in this story. The events of this RP will be replacing the game canon. Sort of.

~Mega Evolution~
During the course of your journey, your trainer will have the ability to unlock the ability for your starter to evolve into its Mega form. This technique takes a lot of energy and cannot be utilized in every battle, as it can easily fatigue your Pokémon. It is common knowledge that the Unova starters do not have official Mega forms. They will be based on the images below. You can also find more information about them there.
Mega Venusaur, Charizard, Sceptile, Blaziken, Swampert, and Blastoise are more or less exactly the same as their original, in-game versions. Venusaur remains a Grass/Poison typing and Blastoise remains a pure Water type. Mega Sceptile is its usual Grass/Dragon typing, Blaziken stays Fire/Fighting and Swampert Water/Ground. Mega Charizard is based upon its Y version. This is done to aid with balancing out the starters a bit, as the Unova starters having Mega forms is something that's a bit of an experiment in this RP. Mega Serperior becomes a Grass/Psychic typing, Mega Emboar will remain a Fire/Fighting type, and Mega Samurott will be of the Water/Dark typing.
Much like the games, Mega Evolution is not permanent. The Pokémon will return to their default forms once the battle they transformed into a Mega Pokémon has either ended or if the Pokémon faints. In the world of this RP, Mega Evolution is also extremely taxing on the Pokémon's energy. As such, it cannot be constantly used over and over. Also, the starters are the only player-owned Pokémon that will be capable of Mega Evolution.
