  • There has been a lot of characters introduced in the 5th Gen games from Bianca to Ghetsis, but to your own opinion, which character do you feel represented Unova the best as a whole?

You may think on this by their own personality, or their history upon Unova/the games, or whatever you can think of!

  • Well hate to be obvious, but N.

They pounded you with Truth and Ideals, Dreams and Reality the entire game, and then they made N. One of the two legendary heroes who fights to make his dream a reality, and while the version difference flips Truth and Ideals, they have him come to the realization that there isn't a Black and White, but an infinite number of shades of grey. N personifies the very essence of what they tried to make the story be, and he does a damn good job of it.

  • Well, yeah, I would love to say how Hugh represented Unova best or how Skyla personalized the region the most out of the character , but I can't. In all honesty, N really did hammer down the story of BW and Unova on us. Truths and ideals. He himself was plagued with all this questions inside him that he went AWOL on B2W2 to search for answers. He really is the final nail in the coffin and his character made the story more engaging.

Here's where I'd need a bit of clarification: by "Unova," do you mean "gen 5" as a whole, or do you mean the region itself? Because if you mean gen 5... then it's N, no doubt about it. Any analysis of his character will show you how he himself reflects the themes present within the games. If you mean the region... it's probably still N. He embodies the "oneness" that is associated with Unova, even giving it its name.

But at least you could give a bit of an argument towards Alder in this regard. One theme that occurs throughout Unova is the juxtaposition of simple traditions and complex modernity. Alder, being a wise old man who travels across the lands of Unova, can be seen to embody this very idea: he is both traditional and modern because of his experiences throughout his life, instead of shunning one over the other (a young character may be quick to shun old traditions while an older character may not be accepting of new modernizations). It's appropriate for the Champion to be depicted in a way that mirrors his own region (this same idea can be applied to Iris, but since she is not seen as frequently in B2W2 as Alder is in BW, it's a little tougher to make the argument for her).

  • Like what most said, I'd say N.

As Varys and Oddball said, he represents the games' main theme of Truth and Ideals, and he battles the player as the other hero recognized by Reshiram and Zekrom. He eventually comes to realize that there can't be a world of black and white. If it hadn't have been for N, the game would have felt very different indeed.

I suppose that N would be the best answer, but to say something a bit different, Cheren+Bianca also represent some of the game's theme fairly well too.

Cheren basically represents the ideals half of the primary theme of Gen V. From the get-go in B/W he's committed to his ideal of becoming as strong as he possibly can, though he for most of the game does not know why he wants to become stronger (so I suppose he lacks the "truth" half of things). Bianca at first sets off with you and Cheren in order to try to figure out what she wants to do with her life, ie she's lacking an ideal. She eventually comes to accept the truth that she'll never be as strong of a battler as Cheren or the player character, and later finds her own "ideal" in B2/W2 in becoming a Pokemon researcher. While Cheren finally figures out what he wants to do in pursuit of his ideal: become a Gym Leader and act as a challenge for new trainers to overcome and grow stronger through.

You could even throw the player character into it to really complete the yinyang theme. The player character could be seen as the wuji in the yinyang motif. Wuji in Taoism is the absence of both yin and yang, and represents nothingness. The player character(s) have always meant to be blank slate, self-insert type characters in the main series games, so they're meant to be "filled" with the thoughts and feelings of the person playing the game, much like how Kyurem is wuji and supposed to be filled with Zekrom (yin) and Reshiram (yang).

They really took the yin-yang theme literally in this game as you said, not just with the legendaries but also the main characters. The fact that Hilbert/Hilda is the wuji of the group references how the protagonists are silent and it's filled with your feelings. It's a neat concept if you ask me, and it makes him/her really complement both Cheren and Bianca.
