    "To Bring Peace to the Islands of Serene"
    A game planned to be constructed off of the Pokémon Essentials kit in RPG Maker XP and is not a ROM hack.

    Introduction:
    Hello there, everyone! Welcome to Pokémon Ambient. I am SereneAmbience, your host. As a young child, I adored the world of Pokémon. I still read the manga, play the video games, watch the anime and movies, etc. I practically have lived for the series since the day I started my Pokémon Red version cartridge. As a college student now, I had an idea: to create my very own Pokémon game. I have constructed Pokémon Ambient for over two years now and still going. I dream to finish this project and am willing to give it everything I got. I have fallen in love with the idea and I hope my Pokémon audience will also. Enjoy Pokémon Ambient!

    Plot:
    Imagine a place filled with islands, sandy deserts, volcanoes, tropical jungles, and many cultures of people. Serene, found neighboring close to the Johto region, is locally known as "The Bustling Oasis of the Pokémon World." Set in a futuristic time five years after the events of Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2, each island differs upon size, temperature, lifestyle, and Pokémon. Natives have lived in prosperity for ages working fast-paced careers, evolving the technology market, and partnering with Pokémon.​
    You have lived your entire life, which is a total of seventeen years, in Tricott Town. Yesterday was actually your birthday and your parents are starting to get a bit disappointed, because you have yet to acquire a partner Pokémon. After some force from your loving parents, you are soon at the front steps of Professor Palm's Laboratory. You head inside and find a comedic professor, delighted to finally show you how to catch your first Pokémon.​
    As you head out with your new buddy, you overhear some dreadful information from neighbors about the political party Team Static imprisoning citizens for protesting industrial development plans in Silk City. The news of a rebellion has rumored a little over a year, beginning with riots and protests. Teams Static reacts by signing with the local police, which has only created more upset. You plan to find the rumored underground rebel group, calling themselves the Dynamic Squad, and aid them with their efforts. You will travel far and wide, discover spiraling mysterious, and find yourself shocked by Team Static.​
    In Pokémon Ambient, you may choose either gender; however, keep in mind that characters will react to differently to you upon which gender you choose.​

    Comment and tell me what you guys think. I have been creating new ideas for this game for about two years now. I have like four notepads full of concepts and designs. I am currently updating my Google Sites webpage with all the information I have. It will fill up slowly, but surely to be accurate. I will also update this post to keep up with major information. Plot (above) is basic foundation of what I have planned to happen.

    This storyline is good. But, from my view, if you want people to answer this thread or help you with this game, post some screenshots and more informations.
     
    ^Keep in mind that this is an [Idea] for a reason.

    Anyway, SereneAmbience, I love the story! It's very intriguing without giving too much away.

    As for the features, I like them a lot, especially the Shadow Pokemon idea (Which I've also thought of for my fangame...)

    Also, kudos for the use of fabrics as cities, it's an amusing concept!

    I like the idea very much :)

    I was personally considering giving the player a special kind of PokeBall that can be used to snag Shadow Pokemon (A counterpart to the Dark Balls used in Pokemon:4Ever).

    if you're incorporating the snag machine and shadow pokemon in general, how are you going to work around hyper mode/calling and running during a battle?
     
    Love these ideas so much, but you are trying to do a lot with this game that I don't like.

    I honestly feel like this would be a whole lot better with just the region, characters and plotline and leaving out a lot of arbitrary features [that are a. overused and b. not easy to fully implement] like shadow Pokemon and exploring all the regions.

    In all honesty though I really love what you have here, I hope you can turn this into a nice game one day :)
     
    At the beginning I had the same idea to use a specialty ball to use for capturing Shadow Pokemon, my thoughts were the Dusk Ball or Dark Ball (4ever). If I do plan to use that concept, I want to make custom villainous-type ball (Rocket/Magma/Aqua: Used in TCG/Anime) that would snag Pokemon. Team Static and Serial INC could of easily manifested such an item.

    Well... Essentials has the basic framework of the process of battling/capturing Shadow Pokemon, but I will find a way to include all of your suggestions...even during single battles that Colosseum/XD didn't include. Thanks for question!

    Fire Flyy, I know it is a lot... but I dream big. I had the same idea to only include the Serene region, but I want to see how far RPG Maker XP can go without falling apart. It will be a risk I will take along the way.. Thanks for the comment though! I really appreciate the feedback, guys.
     
    I always get excited when someone mentions that their fangame/hack will allow you to travel all regions. It's such a great idea that is not as hard as people think. All you need is ambition to finish it.

    I like the ideas a lot, especially how you want to implement Shadow Pokemon. If you ever do end up getting this game underway, for Shadow Pokemon, you can find some black aura from like a Zelda game and implement them into separate form sprites so players can tell the difference, instead of having the need of putting "IT'S A SHADOW POKEMON"...every....single....battle....
     
    no what im saying is that when in a normal Pokemon battle, you can't get your Pokemon out of hyper mode

    I see what you mean now. YES, I will have a "CALL" option in the battle menu. Even during normal battle scenario without any Shadow Pokemon, because its a cool way to wake up your friend. ;)
     
    I updated my first post with new hire information. I am really looking forward to making this game, but I need some help with sprites and scripting so I can make screenshots and form new ideas for the game. Music is also something I am working on, but I need those with the knowledge of creating custom .mp3 or midi music. (I got a new MIDI keyboard, so I am learning and starting to make some custom tracks.) I was thinking electronic/techno/dubstep and, of course, ambient sounding music and sound effects. Any more ideas?

    Also! I want to run another idea for characters. What do people think about voice-over from each NPC/Trainer? I would need different actors/actress for each character, including earlier Trainers that would appear in World Championships. I could still keep text speeds, because that doesn't affect the voices. The program would have to cut off the voice tracks if the player wanted to press A to go to the next part of the text however, but... most game with voice overs do so anyways. Comment and let me know what you all think! I understand this topic to be a little extreme and would take a large amount of work, but I feel it would be a good investment in the long run.
     
    I'm not too crazy about the idea of voice-overs, especially if the actors aren't very good, I really think it's better just not to try and fix what isn't broken. Ambient Sounding music sounds cool but I'd honestly stick more to the tenets of Pokemon music that are already in place, I'm not sure how dubstep would fit in :S
     
    I'm adding some more information on the main Google's site, but other than that I am finishing up finals in college so I will be revising the pages slowly. Hope you guys are still interested in this idea.

    I decided I really want B/W & B2/W2 tiles, but I am reusing the Trainer sprites from DP thru B2/W2. Then I will work on making some custom ones. I created a few so far that are recolored in the context of the FireRed/LeafGreen/Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald stages. Look at my Aroma Lady [link] page for an example, but I have done that with most of the Trainer Sprites that were available.

    I like your story, everything seems rather well thought off. The only thing that bothers me is having multiple regions... It requires a lot of work to implement just one region. There are balancing issues as well, how strong would your Pokemon be after you're done in Serene? Also, think about the amount of towns... Kanto and Hoenn will add a whopping 26 new towns to our game, will they each have their own unique purpose? Pokemon is balanced around a single region...

    Don't be too ambitious, you can make more than a wonderful game with just Serene. I know you dream big, but Serene is a gem, don't waste it by putting it on rusted ring...

    If you're looking for a region map, try contacting NikNaks, he should be able to help you out. If you need help with mapping/eventing and other general design/planning issues, I'm your man! ;)

    This is true.... Well firstly, I plan to expand Serene before any other region. But when the time comes that the hero/heroin has experience Serene thoroughly, I want to give the player the option of traveling somewhere familiar but with a new storyline. Good point about the balancing aspect.. which I would have to develop a turn that allows you to kind of reset your journey. Interesting concept and I will think about this until I devise a plan.     NikNaks' work is good, but I think I am looking towards the newer B/W theme region maps.. Any leads?
