If ash didn't get a legendary the last 6 generations then hevis not getting one now. Doesn't matter if cosmog line is an evolution line. No one will own. It may be hold onto by lillie but it will never be official owned by ash or anyone.

Why should legendaries be forbidden though? Because they're legendary?

There are many main Pokemon heroes in the manga or anime with legendary Pokemon.

Ash is not those characters. He didn't even even bother catching every single pokemon like he said he would. Getting a legendary is out of the question.

The closest he can get is a pseudo legendary but he either releases it like goodra or don't fully evolve it like gible.

I think it's fair to say the writers treat Ash like shit when it comes to pseudo-legendaries. He was forced to release Goodra while Gible never evolved at all.

Is there a possibility of Ash-Greninja returning at the end of Sun and Moon or Just before the league?
We've seen Almost all the water types of alola so far and Ash hasn't catched it.

The only possible Alolan Water-types I could see Ash catching are Wimpod or Dewpider, unless if the writers do pull Ash not getting a Water-type, like how Kalos had Ash catch no Grass-types.

Pyukumuku is entirely defensive which doesn't suit Ash's style, while Wishiwashi would be constantly portrayed as weak and flopping around like Misty's Goldeen. Mareanie and Popplio are out due to being owned by other main characters, in this case James and Lana.

Ash getting Greninja back I can't see happening, since I think it was confirmed he had to stay behind and serve as a hero of Kalos. Bulbapedia lists Greninja's status as Released, meaning it's no longer under Ash's ownership.

Unlikely. Ash released Greninja just like Goodra. Ash not getting a water type is likely this region.

There's also the chance Ash may get an incomplete team this region, considering the very shallow number of new Pokemon they can work with and the large amount of companions. Even moreso if Alola Forms are ruled out for Ash.

Well... we're only on island#2 and he has 4 Pokemon. Got two islands to go for him to catch the final two. Since two Pokemon happen to be Alola starters, it's starting to feel like Sinnoh all over again where he got the Fire and Grass starters with a companion having the other one. Also, were it not for a trade, Ash wouldn't have had a Water Pokemon in Sinnoh either.

What I'm about to say is speculation but I'd like to see Ash get an Eevee. What it evolves into I don't know but Vaporeon would be an interesting choice to say the least. Solid Water type that also can learn Ice Type moves. Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon or Sylveon(Ash's first Fairy type?) would be other solid options(Pikachu rules out Jolteon or any Electric type and Litten rules out Flareon). I also ruled out Glaceon because Ash can catch an Alola specific Ice type in Sandshrew(I would have advocated Vulpix but they just had to give it to Lillie).

I can't see him getting more Dragon types(only have had two so far) and Dark/Ghost types don't exactly fit Ash's style. Would be interesting to see if Ash gets a Fairy type being he didn't in Kalos(where they were first introduced) and considering how strong Fairy types can be, it could be Ash's powerhouse Pokemon in Alola and would make sense for the character Mina when and if she appears in the anime.

The only other new Pokemon I could see suiting Ash would probably be Jangmo-o, assuming if the writers give him another pseudo-legend line (though it would be treated like crap, considering the treatment Goodra and Gible got). Other than that, I could see this being his first region where he finishes with a team of less than six Pokemon.

Oh, and Kiawe just got an Alolan Marowak. That's now both of Ash's male companions this generation who have caught a second Pokemon. Now I want the girls to all get another Pokemon, even if Lana kinda missed her chance with the Wishiwashi.

Unfortunately I just can't see Iris coming back. Her VA is considered a huge celebrity and would be too expensive to hire, same with Cilan.

I haven't watched Episode 34 yet but Kiawe catching that Marrowak doesn't surprise me. In fact, I kind of assumed he would be the one to get it. As for the three Pokegirls, Mallow is the next one to acquire one and I anticipate it being the Lurantis in the next Episode(Otherwise what other Grass Type do you see her getting?).

As for Lana... tons of Water Pokemon to choose from honestly but if I had to choose, it'd be a Feebas if only because it evolves into Milotic but that's me talking. Realistically speaking, I have no clue what Water Pokemon she will get. It sure as heck won't be Tapu Fini(that'd go against everything the anime stands for... a legendary Water/Fairy type going to a protagonist) but other realistic options are Corsola(repeating the Misty theme), Staryu/Starmie(again Misty *cough*) and Poliwag(Misty broken record).

Lillie is a wildcard. I honestly don't know what she will get, if anything, but deep down I think she's going to get an Eevee. Since it can evolve any number of ways and since its a Fox Pokemon like her Vulpix, it just fits her theme so far and perhaps she has it evolve into a Glaceon to give her another Ice Type(hence she becomes an Ice type trainer).

I definitely see Mallow potentially getting a Lurantis, since I feel it fits her.

Unfortunately, the only way I can see Lana getting a second Pokemon is if the writers for some reason decide to give her a random previous-gen Water-type. Like how Clemont somehow got a Luxray despite it not even being in the Kalos Dex.

Lillie can potentially get anything, but I hope she mainly gets the cute stuff.

If you recall in Episode 8 when Ash visits Lillie's house with the Egg, you'll notice several stuffed animals. They would be Lapras, Pikachu, Clefairy and Eevee. Something tells me that her next Pokemon is going to be one of those 4 and since Lapras is a rider Pokemon owned by Lana and Ash has Pikachu, the only options that make sense are Clefairy and Eevee. Another possibility that came to mind is that instead of an Ice-type trainer, Lillie becomes a Fairy-type trainer. Ninetales is part Fairy, Eevee can evolve into Sylveon and Clefairy is a fairy type. Lillie would be one bad-ass trainer if that happens and would give reason for Lillie to pursue the Fairy Z-Crystal from Mina.

Sylveon was only just used by Serena last generation, so I can't see Lillie getting a Sylveon. In fact, I feel she may not specialise in one type, unlike the other classmates who are all type specialists.

Just because Sylveon was used last generation doesn't mean it can't come back in Alola. I'll yield on the possibility that Lillie can be a mixed type trainer like Ash but I wouldn't rule out Lillie becoming a Fairy type specialist to replace Mina who is a joke in the game. Mina might be different in the anime but we haven't gotten to that point yet now have we?

Can we all agree though that Lillie is the most logical choice to get an Eevee though? I mean what are the odds that after 7 Generations that Ash manages to catch one despite meeting Eevee and all 8 of its Evolutions so far? The subtle implications of Lillie getting one are not to be ignored and I think she acquires one via Egg like May did because she's great at taking care of them(like Episode 8 to 14).

Remember that Trial Captains don't seem to exist in the anime. Kahunas seem to look over the trials instead.

A theory I have for that is that the anime takes place prior to Trial Captains becoming a reality. Namely, each Trial Captain in the game is going through their own Trial in the anime. Kiawe and Lana have already passed theirs, hence leaving Mallow and Sophocles as the next ones to go through the ritual. At the end of the SM Anime where they graduate from the Pokemon school, the Kahuna's proclaim them to be Trial Captains to challenge any future challengers in the Alola region. They hold one last grand celebration and Ash heads home to Pallet Town.

How many Episodes that will be, I have no clue. Rest assured that I expect Ash to fill out his team before SM ends. I will definitely be floored if Ash catches an Eevee though as it will be a long time coming.
