Ultimate Monotype Challenge Thread

Heh... I cant get to the challenge comp now, so I'll just post my progress

-Beat Lt.Surge
-Got through Rock Tunnel without flash
-Went to Celadon
-Beat the Rockets there
-Beat the rockets in Lavender
-Got to... Well, the south city place xD
-Decided not to use any other Pokémon because of the pathetic gen 1 movesets =/
-Saved

I'm now starting Poision Ultimate-Monotype Challenge with Red.

Planned Red Team: Venasaur, Nidoking, Golbat, Tentacruel, Muk, Weezing*

*Huh, no Gengar? I would use it, but I have no idea how to evolve it on an emulator. If someone could help me, it would be appreciated, but I don't really need it since in this game, all of it's STAB attacks are Physical so it's use is hindered.

Update no. 1
- Started up the game, and got a Bulbasaur starter. Miraculously beat the rival.
- Got Bulbasaur up to level 10, and got the parcel and stuff.
- Bought some Pokeballs and caught a Male Nidoran.
- Grinded both up to level 16, and evolved them. Thank God for 1000% speed.
- Swept up the forest thing, and it's puny little bugs.
- Beat Brock with very little effort thanks to Vine Whip.
- Went into Mt. Moon and caught Zubat. Grinded it to level 19 to match the rest of my team.
- After going out of Mt. Moon, I was already able to evolve Nidorino with Moon Stone and Zubat evolved into Golbat.
- Went into Cerulean and beat up Staryu with Golbat and Leech Life (I couldn't let Ivysaur get all the experience) and Starmie with Vine Whip and Ivysaur.
- Went to Bill and got the Ticket thing.
- After getting to Vermillion City, I explored a bit of Diglett cave and leveled up on the route, then going to the Ship.
- At the ship, I was able to beat Blue single handedly with Nidoking, very fun.
- Thankfully, I got the Body Slam TM, which I taught to Nidoking instead of Thrash since I found Thrash kind of annoying with the effects.
- After getting off, I caught an Oddish as a cutslave.
- I went to the gym and beat Lt. Surge with Nidoking again by Body Slamming repeatedly.
- Grinded a bit for some new moves.

Before I start my Psychic HG/SS challenge back up, I want to make sure of something: In the original thread, I was given permission to save file change my Slowpoke into a Slowking (without altering any stats, etc), after obtaining a King's Rock from the Pokeathlon (with a 5% framerate after the half mark of the games... took me 2 hours to get one :S) As trading isn't possible with a DS emulator. I was even given permission to change it without the rock, as it's possible to get it with enough time, but I wanted to be as legit as possible, XD

I was wondering: Is that still ok, or would I have to start all over again? All it did was change the species to Slowking, and upon leveling up, it's stats corrected to what a Slowking evolution would have granted. It's a normal Slowking, through and through. It simply allowed me to evolve it while having the item without the ability to trade. (I then tossed said rock, as it shouldnt be there, and I would be tempted to use it for it's flinch rate :3)

However, even though I'm only just past Whitney, I'd rather not reset... Beating Falkner with just Unown, and then Bugsy's scyther with Unown and Slowpoke is just... not happening again, XD

Im back from my vacation and what do i find? The Ultimate Awesome Challenge has gotten a new thread! Anyway, i´m doing 3 ultimate monotype challenges at a time, and here are my updates!

Ultimate Bug:

Star/Ledian Lv. 29 Comet Punch, Reflect, Light Screen, U-Turn
Defender/Pineco Lv. 20 Tackle, Selfdestruct, Bug Bite, Take Down
Horner/Heracross Lv. 22 Horn attack, Arial Ace, Shadow Claw, Brick Break
Slicer/ Scyther Lv. 20 Pursuit, False Swipe, Focus Energy, Agility

I have three badges and I''m up to Celadon. (went there to get Flarez the Flareon and Xtreme the Growlithe). I soloed my way thorugh with Charmking. I' gonna try and attempt the Grass Gym (which will be soooo easy) whenever I finish the grinding of Flarez and Xtreme.

Current Team :

Okay ... this beast got me through all the game up to Celadon. And I'm sure he'll keep being the main until the end ! :P

How the heck am I gonna raise this thing ?! How can I teach it fire-typed moves ?! HELP !

Xtreme :t058: Lv. 19
Moves : Bite, Ember, Take Down, Roar
At least it knows Ember ... I have a Fire Stone and I will evolve it later...

Okay, the script is doomed. But I'm sure to zip my way through Crystal just like this one. But Ruby and Platinum will be on their consoles, so I will have time to script ! :P

Flareon: no need to teach it fire moves, solo with charizard
Growlithe: no need to evolve it, solo with charizard.

Updates to come soon, I'm waiting for my DS to charge then I'll get playing (There's a problem with my DS so I cant play it when it's charging)

Its 1 on DS, 1 on GBA, and 1 on Emulator, So i can use all my gaming time on ultis (i need to share with my siblings, so i play on whats free)

- Beat Wattson Easily, Muddy swept everything
- Got through meteor falls
- on my way to Mt. Chimney

Ultimate Normal:

- Started with charmander, and did opening stuff
- Caught Super Fang, The rattata
- grinded it before beatin up my rival
- got to Pewter
- beat brock with 2 potions
- caught Sing, the jigglypuff
- Grinded Sing and evolved Super Fang
- got to cerulean
- beat nugget bridge and the route behind, and meet Bill
- beat the rocket, gained dig and taught it to Super Fang
- caught Pay Day, The meowth
- beat misty, letting Super Fang finish her
- got to vermilion
- beat the boat
- beat up the whole gym with only Super Fang
- got to lavender, evolving Pay Day on the way
- sneaked to celadon
- beat the rocket base
- rushed through the tower to get pokeflute
- Evolved Sing who had finally learnt Body Slam
- caught Body Slam, the snorlax
- beating up all the trainers before going to the next Gym

Small update.

Started my game on ruby. Chose Treecko to make it more difficult. Killed Roxanne. Treecko evolved after roxanne battle. Made it to dewford and caught my two members (only one other left..) And now grinding to level 20(or higher) before i fight brawly.

**Next Up**
Violet City and Sprout Tower where I'll be getting a bellsprout that I can trade to that woman for an Onix. Which I'll trade in order to get a Steelix. Then it's full steam ahead after that so expect another update within the hour.

Short update is short.


So short, in fact, that I'm not even gonna put it in bullets. I got into the Rocket Hideout - that was the easy part. I fought Rivalman - that was the hard part. Magnemite's Magnet Pull made it so that weak-o himself, Skarmory, was stuck in battle with it, and it fainted. Things only went downhill from there. I scraped a victory with two of six Pokémon left, both with a sliver of HP and one paralyzed.

So... yeah.

update: after brock i caught a nidoran(male) and continued onto mt. moon where i caught a zubat. then i trained my team until zubat and nidoran both evolved, than went and stomped on my rival. then i went to bills and owned misty. after misty i evolved nidorino and beat everyone around vermillion.
