BANG BANG BANG!

"Court is now in session," You hear a voice, a pretentious and fanciful voice. The judge glares down at you patronizingly.

"I, Judge Hilda H. Salska, will be presiding today's trial with these... potential Hylics." Hilda scoffs in disgust before continuing. "The Council will evaluate their actions and deem whether or not they are worthy." You remember reading similar words once before... a story that had been ingrained into your mind...

Long ago, a group of evil people known as trainers used terrible beasts known as Pokemon to to repress and bully the rest. They sowed chaos across the beautiful region of Lasvion, until they incurred the wrath of the great Goddess Norea, who purified the region with a catastrophic storm. This storm caused much destruction, but eliminated the plague of these trainers and their beasts. She then proclaimed the Four Laws of Sanctic which all must follow, before ascending into the heavens. The people took these laws and founded the religion that currently governs the entire region known as Sanctic. To this day, she sleeps, waiting for the time when select people can evolve into perfect angelic beings known as The Elect. When they prove that they are worthy, the Goddess will remove them from this world and ascend them into a perfect world of the heavens.

What that basically meant to you - and everyone in Lasvion - was simple - do not do the following:

  • The First Law - "Man and Pokemon are to be separate. True Beasts [the Hylic] are not to be tamed, but instead subjugated, so that the True People can ascend into The Elect."

The absolutely most important law. Do not interact with Pokemon in any way. Don't touch one, don't look at one, nothing. And especially, do not train them at any costs.

  • The Second Law - "It is every Sanctic's responsibility to follow the will of Norea. Do not shirk that responsibility or follow false Gods."

Stay away from heretics, from any upstarts who try to defy the will of Sanctic. And especially, don't rebel yourself or join any of those pesky resistance groups.

  • The Third Law - "Conflict is the will of a fearful, tainted soul. Those who are corrupted by it are True Beasts [Hylics]."

Don't cause death, violence, or destruction.

  • The Fourth Law - "The people of Sanctic are a spiritual collective, consciousnesses and hearts bound for all of eternity. Those who attempt to sever the bond surrender harmony to the chaos of the Hylic."

Everyone's got to wear an emblem on their clothes. Absolutely do not tear it off more than three times. You've heard the reason they're so strict about this one is because they're using that symbol to keep track of people at all times.

But you didn't listen. For whatever reason, you decided to break one of the Four Laws. Maybe you were oblivious, maybe you were a rebel, or maybe you just didn't care. The Sanctic Crusaders, the police force of this land, wouldn't hear anything of it. They just dragged you away to that courtroom and here you were, about to be sentenced to Goddess knows what.

"The Council has examined all of the evidence and have come to the decision that these beasts are… guilty. Take them away." She proclaims as she bangs her gavel. Then suddenly... the entire room starts to go fuzzy...

You open your eyes, not sure how much time passed from the trial. But you feel yourself to be... a little off. It seems you're in some kind of prison cell. You try to move, but feel yourself chained to something. You look down to try to get your bearings and...

What... what is this?! You're... a Pokémon?!

A few minutes later, some guards come in and undo your shackles from the wall. They utter something about not trying to escape, or the control crystal now embedded in your body will administer an extremely painful shock. But as long as you play nice, you'll be rewarded with good sensations and better treatment. Then they throw you into a large musty room, filled with even more Pokemon just like you, and demand that you work. For the rest of your days...

Welcome to Santic! To summarize that all up, you are a Hylic, a human who has been transformed into a Pokémon slave and thrown to toil in in a secret underground facility. You broke one of those Four Laws listed above, and this is your punishment. But worry not! Our group is going to work to try to escape from the facility, maybe transform back to their original forms, and attempt to take down this horrible system once and for all.

Before you do that though, you should probably read...

THE RULES AND ESSENTIAL LORE INFORMATION

  • No godmodding (controlling other people's characters), Mary-Sues, etc. You know, the basics.

  • Please type with as much proper grammar and spelling as you can, and make sure that any lengthier posts are encased in paragraphs.

  • Try to stay as active as possible, and aim to make a post once every four days, at least. We all know how frequently forum RPs die. If you're going to be away for an extended period of time, please post in this thread and let us know.

  • You can only play a Hylic. Any human characters you play may only be NPCs who are related to your character in some way. Like an enemy, a sibling, etc.

  • You may not play a Legendary Pokémon or an Ultra Beast. The only one who may control these types of Pokemon is myself. Other than that, you can play any Pokemon, of any stage, that you desire.

  • Your character cannot be younger than 17 years old, due to the fact that before this age, people are considered children and are not punished harshly for breaking the laws.

  • There are no naturally wild Pokemon in this region. Any wild Pokemon are either escaped Hylics or their descendants who live in small, hidden pockets of the region.

  • Lasvion is completely closed off from outer regions, so your character cannot be from any others.

  • The public is completely unaware of how people are punished when they break one of the Four Laws and know nothing about the Hylics or the underground facilities, so keep that in mind.

  • Knowledge of Pokemon is not widespread, so unless your character is part of an underground resistance group, they wouldn't know much about specific species.

  • In order to get by without Pokemon, humans in the region use special machines to emulate Pokemon types and moves. They place TM discs inside of their machines to use moves, though they are much weaker than a Pokemon. Many humans often specialize in one type, which influences what they will become when they are transformed. They are known as Type Machines, and are powered by a gem that provides energy.

  • Most Hylics lose their ability to speak to humans and can only make noises that can be understood by other Pokemon. Your character may only communicate with humans if they are a Psychic-type or a species shown to have telepathic abilities.

  • Lastly, please feel free to manipulate the plot/environment! Be creative! I highly encourage everyone taking a big part in it, and all of us writing the plot together.

CHARACTER FORM

And finally, what you've all been waiting for! Here we go. Copypaste this and fill it in with your appropriate information:

EXTRAS

Stuff that's not super essential to know at the start, but is recommended if you're stuck on creating a character or are just more curious about the lore and want to move the story on yourself. This isn't really set in stone though and can be changed as the story goes along if things develop differently. Think of it as a framework. So don't sweat reading through it fully.

_pokesona__arylett_zoroark_sketch_by_arylett_charnoa-dbpus81.png

Name: Arylett Charnoa
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Species: Zoroark

Human Appearance:
Spoiler:

The gem on her chest actually is the battery of a wireless Type Machine she has, which she carries in a pocket. They converted it into a control crystal when she was transformed.

Pokemon Appearance: A Zoroark with purple eyes and purple hairband. Her crimson control crystal is located on her chest. She wears glasses, a relic of her humanity, and also wears a dresslike cape which her arms and chest fluff go through, used to mark her as a high-ranking Hylic. Her mane is styled similarly to how it was as a human, and she walks in a very upright, stiff posture compared to other Zoroark.

I'll be coloring the image and providing a higher quality version of it later, when I have my equipment. You'll have to make do with this rough concept for now.

Personality: A secretive person, Arylett tries not to reveal much of her emotions. She appears somewhat cold on the surface, always getting down to business and tending to brush away any attempts at conversation. But such coldness couldn't be further from the truth. In keeping with her transformation into a Zoroark, Arylett has always worn a mask to the world, and she now uses the limited Illusion abilities that she is allowed to project an emotionless facial expression over herself at all times.

Even after working for Sanctic for several years as a trusted Hylic, she still finds herself unable to turn a blind eye to all of suffering she sees, and must use this mask to hide her horror and any doubts she may harbor.

In reality, this young Zoroark is quite naive and doesn't know how to react to most situations. When unrelated distractions that cannot be brushed aside inevitably present themselves, she tends to react in a confused or curious manner, as though she were a robot that was presented a query outside of its programming. If these distractions persist for too long and are outside of her realm of interest, she becomes very frustrated.

Most of the time, she doesn't speak much if it's unrelated to her tasks or her interests, being relatively subdued, quiet, and slightly timid. However, when she is inspired or roused by something of great interest, her passion flares up and she becomes strong-willed, determined, and stubborn. She does not back down from her beliefs when challenged.

A perfectionist to a fault, she puts her whole being into her work and blames herself when anything goes wrong. Arylett holds herself to high standards. She is rather down on herself and self-defeating in her more negative moments, holding a lot of emotional baggage within her. A rather insecure individual.

History: Born in the tumultuous Sophia Town, Arylett's life was filled with much emotional distress. Her family were immensely involved with the Sanctic religion, with her father working as a low-ranking Sanctic Crusader and her mother being a priestess of the local church. They were so consumed in their duties (as Sophia Town had a massive fill of rebellion which the officials constantly had to deal with) that they practically neglected her, only speaking to her to condemn her for not being religious enough or other such negative criticisms. She tried her best to mold herself to their desires to little avail.

Once she gained usage of her Type Machine, she hid her own personal affinity for the Dark-type. (A type which is heavily stigmatized by Sophia officials especially, due to it being rather common in rebel forces.) She even managed to become a proficient user of a healing move, Wish, which was powered by her intense desires to prevent conflict and harm. But even then, it still wasn't enough.

On a day of wandering idly through the beach, Arylett met a strange young man who was full of exuberance and energy. Something about his words caught her interest, and she kept going back to that beach to watch him whenever she could. She decided to approach him yet again after gaining more confidence and the two got to talking even more. Several days a week, they would meet up at the beach and came to become good friends, as he was the only person she had interacted with who had anything positive to say about her.

Several months later, another man appeared at their meeting spot, and realized her status as daughter of Sanctic officials. This man, Banon, was head of the resistance group known as The Returners. Escorting her to a hidden location, he asked for her aid in joining their group, informing them that no harm would come to her if she refused and that she would simply forget this entire meeting. Although her new friend seemed hesitant about involving her in this, she agreed to it, her resentment of the religion and her parents having come to a head.

Unfortunately though, that location was not as hidden as they had thought. The three of them were caught and arrested for violating the Second Law - not to rebel against Sanctic. She was separated from the two, transformed into a Zorua, and never saw them again. This was six years ago, when she was 20.

At first, she was as harshly treated as any other prisoner, and was thoroughly afraid to cause any trouble. She wasn't strong enough to do heavy physical labor, so they used her ability to see in the dark, as well as her ability to use the move Dig, to help out with mining operations. In a particularly dangerous mining session, a rockfall occurred injuring several Hylics and Sanctic Crusaders. Arylett aided in healing quite a few of the injured whilst they waited for further aid to arrive, garnering the respect of the prison wardens, and gaining the attention of a high ranking Sanctic Crusader named Nora.

From then on, she came to be respected for her high obedience, intense determination, and heavy work ethic. She became close to Nora, who she came to respect and see as the mother figure she never had. Under the older woman's charge, she evolved into a Zoroark and thrived in an environment where even though she was a slave, she was respected and actually given positive feedback. With Nora's help, she came to be promoted to work as a Hylic Inspector, with her job involving watching other Hylics for bad behavior, inspecting machinery, and dealing with lots of paperwork. Her transformation into who she is today was completed when they awarded her with clothes, her very own cape, signifying her status as a trusted Hylic.

Moves: Night Daze, Wish*, Extrasensory, Toxic, Protect, Dig.

Other:
  • Arylett is able to telepathically speak with humans, due to many years of having honed her minor Psychic abilities.

  • She has extreme limiters placed on her Illusion ability which only allow her to project facial expressions onto her own face. Once the group escapes, the limiters will be removed, but she will have no idea how to utilize the full extent of her ability.

Name: Mizu Owari
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Species: Pachirisu

Human Appearance:
Spoiler:

She has long black hair and dark red eyes. She wears a pastel blue sweater with a light pink skirt with black boots and white socks, she has a mahogany bow in her hair that was gifted to her by her mother.

Pokemon Appearance: A Pachirisu with a mahogany bow tied around her neck. Her gray control crystal is on the back of her bow.

Personality: Although she looks very approachable, Mizu is actually very shy and will always avoid social interaction, leading her to have no true friends of any kind. She is known for not speaking at all and has even avoided having conversations with her own family, especially after she started to lock herself in her room, pacing back and forth doing nothing all day, which made her more distant from her family. She used her Type Machine to get herself out of conversations and situations that made her feel uncomfortable. She has even mastered a move that briefly blinded people, called Flash, which she would even use for fun when she got bored, which caused people to get annoyed at her, making her social status get even worse than it already was.

History: Mizu didn't talk to anybody because of her major interest in Pokemon. She thought Pokemon were probably just innocent creatures that wouldn't hurt anybody unless told to and didn't believe in the story of the trainers, thinking it was just some age-old myth. She always looked at the emblem embedded on her clothes in disgust and had teared the emblem off from her shirt twice, only for her mother to sew it back on again. She whispered insults towards others who talked bad about Pokemon and would even draw what she thought Pokemon looked like and how they would act. Her mother was very serious about Sanctic's laws and after learning about her daughter's more positive opinions on Pokemon, she locked Mizu away in her room every day, until she understood how serious the laws are. Tired of her mother's behavior, Mizu ripped the emblem on her sweater once more, completely breaking the Fourth Law. She demanded her mother to let her out of her room.

Her mother realized what Mizu had done as soon as she heard the rips of thread for the third time. She reported her daughter to the Sanctic Crusaders and she was taken away immediately after. Saddened by her mother's betrayal, she erased any positive memories of her mother she ever had from her mind, hoping that she would never meet the woman again.

Moves: Quick Attack, Swift, Super Fang, Spark, Flash*, Thunder Wave

Accepted!

I quite like the detail of how she drew pictures of Pokemon and what she thought they would be like. And also how she would mess around using Flash.

I thought of another question I'd like to ask the GM. Are we beginning the RP just after being transformed, or should there be an amount of time that we've been toiling in the facilities?

Thenos, Ousia, Archon, and Throni are on the map but have no info about them in the text. Same with Charisma Isles and Ousia forest and Pearl mountains. Are we just not supposed to set our human characters' backstories there, then?

For your first question, you can do either one, really. You can be a newbie who just arrived or more experienced.

As for the places that have no information, it's just because I never got around to writing it. I figure those can be places that we can make stuff up for if we go to them as we go along. Makes things more fun. But you can have your characters' backstory be from there... if you're willing to do a little extra work into making up some lore of your own.

Thank you kindly.

What do the TM-using machines look like? How do they accomplish their tasks, e.g. Surf, Psychic, Leech Life, Sunny Day?

I forget if this was already addressed, but how much of our human knowledge do we retain when turned into Pokémon?

Why are you submitting a character of your own?

Appearance varies. There are several types of models that specialize in different tasks. Some are just little CD-like players that one carries on their person (these are the cheaper models), and others can be worn on the body, like this old example:

type_machine_adv_model_by_arylett_charnoa-dbpbk6p.png

As for how it accomplishes this, I'm not really an expert in technology or anything, but it has an energy gem (basically a battery) set in it that provides it all of the power necessary to create attacks. On occasion though, it will run out of power and need to be replaced with another one, which can be purchased at any store.

For the second question, you retain all of your knowledge. There is no loss of memories.

Why are you submitting a character of your own?
Apparently, you snuck in an edit when I wasn't looking. Again, I don't know what the common style of RPing is here, but the Roleplaying I'm experienced with has the DM taking part of the story with their own characters. This isn't going to be a Dungeons and Dragons type RP where I simply act as narrator. I too am a player, and prefer to be thought of as such rather than just an absolute controller of the plot. On occasion, if things don't move along, I will guide the narrative, but otherwise, I'm here to have fun too.

Tunes: Land of Fans and Music 4: Altitude and Cleopatra's Cocktail Party
Name: Leon Key
Age: Early 20s
Gender: Male
Species: Kecleon

Human Appearance:
Spoiler:

Pokemon Appearance:
No colours out of the ordinary... any more than Kecleons already do, that is.
No accessories... unless someone's nice enough to get him a camera, that would be highly therapeutic.
He's got some kinda weird crystal set into the scales of his red stripe... but the colour matches, so whatever.

Personality:
As you may have guessed by those first two images, Leon is not a high-energy individual. Teacher evaluations have described him as "prone to laziness," but this isn't quite the truth.

Leon is an escapist. Instead of studying, he would procrastinate and keep his mind elsewhere. During class, half the time he would vanish without notice. Sometimes he would avoid school altogether. He procrastinated and avoided it all because he never felt he was ready: it was an all-or-nothing mindset from the perfectionist boy.

Having results anywhere short of what he envisioned, that represented many things to him. It represented his irresponsibility toward studies and life. It represented how he lacked the discipline to get his priorities straight. It represented how he was messing up his life, his future, his dreams, how he was setting himself up for failure. In the end, it wasn't the papers he was trying to avoid. He was trying to avoid himself. He was trying to avoid tainting his self-image. Excellence was (and still is) a key value of his and he didn't want to acknowledge that he was anything less than his idealized self-image. The act of doing the papers, having them marked by a teacher, and finally receiving the grade, were tangible consequences that would slap the cold, hard truth of his (in)actions in his face. By avoiding them, he was trying to gain breathing space for the exams. He was trying to avoid that one moment of truth.

This made him a poor student, but not a poor photographer: He has very well-developed senses, and aesthetic appreciation for beauty. If anything, photography was one of his escapes.

Leon also had a lot of struggles with his peers. He fears drawing attention to himself, and he fears social failure. It was often that he would find some place in the school to disappear for a while. Instead of hanging out with others and opening the door for making friends, it was much easier for him to hide and keep to himself.

It's a pity, too. All these things made it hard to get to know his true colors. Though quiet and serious, he is sensitive and kind. Though he's hard to get in with, he is loyal and faithful if you do. If you watch him at work on something other than school, Leon is likely to be original and creative.

History:
As a human fella, Leon attended the College of Faspiliere. The only class he did any well at -- the only class he didn't regularly disappear from -- was photography.

As discussed above, his qualities made him a lousy student but an excellent photographer, he had a real eye for the stuff. He didn't have a lot going for him at school, but one thing people were amazed by was his ability to find hidden details that everyone else never noticed. Often those found their way into his viewfinder, but it cropped up in all aspects of life, really.

His other ability was how completely he was able to just... vanish. Not literally, mind you, but hidden away somewhere when he was in plain sight with the rest of the group just a moment ago. Perhaps he also had an eye for hiding spots or escape routes. He was very silent about slipping away, too. Of course, according to his peers and teachers, this is anything but a positive.

Spoiler:

Moves: Thief, Shadow Sneak, Substitute, Bind, Lick, Psybeam

Other: Leon fears rejection and longs for a stabilizing relationship.

Presumably the reason he was turned into a Kecleon and not some other species is because of his set of skills.

Leon is not yet aware that his species is capable of turning nigh-invisible. He best learn quick, though.

The boy is occasionally frustrated by his new body, particularly his tongue, but he doesn't hate it. He only hates his new LIFE, and Arcadia. However, he can't help but notice those who have it much worse than him, when it came to their transformation -- those who are struggling with a much more drastic change. Times like those help him break out of his "lie low" nature, so he can lend an empathetic ear or helping hand to Pokémon like that.

TL;DR:
Human college kid. He's a really bad student but a great photographer: Amazing eye for detail, finding hidden stuff.
He's an escapist, he fears failure and avoids his responsibilities: He's great at "disappearing," getting out of sight and hiding.
He goes totally broke because he was stolen from, and then he turns to a life of petty theft himself. Using those same skills listed above. He's now a thief through and through.
He breaks one of the sacred laws of this world (long story) and as punishment he's turned into both a Pokemon and a slave.
And now he's gonna use those skills, which line up pretty neatly with Kecleon skills, to steal and escape and not be seen.

Changelog, since I changed so much about his personality since the first and second drafts.

Laziness is being unwilling to put energy into something, which he is not. Accepted!

A photographer taking a forbidden image certainly is an interesting angle.

I'm definitely interested in this. I will try to get an SU up asap.
Good. I look forward to seeing it. :>

Name: Greg Strong
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Species: Joltik

Human Appearance:
Spoiler:

As a human, Greg was large and strong, six and a half feet tall with tawny brown skin, black hair, and green eyes.

Pokemon Appearance: A Joltik with green eyes and claws instead of the regular blue. His control crystal is a lime green diamond on his forehead, directly between his eyes.

Personality: Greg had always been a brash, competitive, and ultimately selfish person. He'd always been the type to push others around, using his size to intimidate them into doing what he wanted. As he got older, that stopped working as well, with people either refusing to give in to him, or relying on authority figures and legal punishments to stop his bullying. He instead learned to channel his aggression into work, using his strength to help people, which made him feel good. Not because it was the right thing to do, but because it proved he was superior to others.

Over time, he found he genuinely enjoyed being nice to people. He found out that he had nothing he had to prove, and that he could be a good person just for the sake of being good. He might have done just that, if he hadn't been turned into a Joltik.

As a Pokemon, little remains of Greg's outspoken and raucous attitude. He is a broken man now, wallowing in his depression and accepting life as it comes. He doesn't say much anymore, beyond short, terse responses to questions or pessimistic assessments of the things around him. He's even more selfish these days, only caring about what he can gain from any situation.

It's possible some remnants of his old personality still lurk behind his grim exterior. On rare occasion, he'll show a more upbeat outlook on life, and was once seen smiling. Perhaps he'll regain his outgoing mentality once he gets free of the control crystal, but he doesn't think that will ever happen.

History: Born in Oarenin Town, Greg never knew his father and only infrequently got to see his mother. She was a petty criminal, a repeat offender, but never anything worthy of breaking the Four Laws. Between his disappeared dad, convict mother, and apathetic caretakers, is it any wonder Greg developed the personality and complexes he did? Like mother, like son, as Greg was a bit of a problem child, but eventually he straightened out a little, joining one of the ever-expanding town's many construction companies. This seemed to be a good match for him, and he happily worked for the betterment of Oarenin Town, the strong helping the weak. He primarily used Normal and Electric moves in his job.

Of course, he wouldn't be here if his story ended like that, now would he. His current predicament can be traced back to one fateful day. After rumors of suspected resistance groups caused an increase in security, and hints of possible Pokemon activity shutting down job sites, Greg thought the best way to de-stress would be to visit the Oarenin Town Fair, a carnival with various games and attractions (not ro mention food!). He happened to visit a fortune teller, who claimed she could see a person's true nature and reveal their Hidden Power. To his dismay, the seer proclaimed that Greg's Hidden Power was Bug type, and he would be quite proficient with Bug techniques. Refusing to believe that his true nature was a weak little Bug, he stormed out of the tent. Unfortunately, a group of Resistance fighters tried disrupting the Fair, and Greg decided to prove he was no bug, attempting to apprehend the criminals, even throwing the Test Your Strength hammer at their apparent leader, striking the man in the head. The group tried to flee, and chemical weapons were deployed. His actions turned an aggressive (if non-violent) protest into an all-out panic, and the crowd became a stampede. In the aftermath, several people were injured, large portions of the fairgrounds were heavily damaged, and one man, suspected but not proven to be part of a resistance group, was dead. Several eyewitnesses identified Greg as the instigator, and he was tried and found guilty of breaking the Third Law.

Whether by cruel fate or intentional design, Greg was transformed into a small and weak Bug, forced to provide silk and electricity, occasionally even hooked directly into battery packs during power outages. Becoming the very thing the seer predicted, as weak and helpless as those he used to bully, was catastrophic to his ego and mental stability. He now exists, a pathetic and depressed slave, awaiting the day he is free of this nightmare. Even if that freedom is death.

Moves: String Shot, Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Strength*, Slash, Leech Life

Other: *As a human, he was incredibly proud of his strength, and refused to use Fighting moves, preferring to use his own power. He only used Strength when he had to, making himself strong enough to meet his need, but no more. As a Joltik, Strength makes him about as strong as an average child, a cruel mockery to remind him what he lost.

Ill be joining this for sure. just gotta make a post
Again, I look forward to more characters joining. :3

Thanks Arylett. Do you have any opinions on his skills and uh, wealth of weaknesses?

And/or about mechanical things we might want to talk about given how abilities/moves would work.
Well, I think he will definitely add a good dynamic to the roleplay. A more... sneaky-type character with a moodiness to him. His sneakiness probably will come of use due to all the skulking around our party will be doing. Not only that, but his weaknesses will definitely give him room for growth and interactions with other people.

As for mechanical stuff, I don't think we need to sweat it. Just write the moves/abilities however you interpret them to work.

Ha, I love the bit about how he threw the hammer. That amused me quite a bit. And the part with the fortune teller was some nice foreshadowing for what would happen to him as well.

"Everyone has already forsaken their former selves the moment they're here, myself included.
We can't throw away memories of our own past though. Does that still makes us humans?"

Name: Edmund Feuvernand
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Species: Arbok

Human Appearance:
As a human, he is of average stature. In the world where hairs are unrealistically colorful, he is brunette and his eyes are as dark as black. His well-dressed appearance does suggest that he is a clerk working in a company of entrepreneurs. He wears a flexible black choker as an accessory around his neck, to remind him of a gift he was given to by someone special to him.

Pokemon Appearance:
As a Pokémon -- specifically an Arbok, his appearance has little difference, which is the similar black choker latched around his neck. A small circular aquamarine crystal is embedded on the collar's core. The pattern of his hood is based on the ones generally found in Sinnoh.

Personality:
A softhearted man with bravery and intuition. Edmund isn't really the type to speak out loud, but pretty vivacious and agreeable when it comes to things that he is capable of. By trade, he is a risk-taker who prefers to gamble on how things would turn out even if it is likely to not favor his side. By this obvious behavior, he indeed likes to play card games, and collecting them may be the best definition of a hobby.

However, there is more to his individuality. He is easily offended and gets sad every time someone hurts his feelings, even if it was partially masked by his stiffening silence. More often that not, his actions may lead to dishonesty, even to someone he trusts. But his deep affection towards his family makes him a persevering hard worker, and somewhat a cheapskate. He always wants to make them proud, so that one day he could live up and carry on the name of the family to eventually prosper and make a history out of it.

He still retains the bits of his past self even as a Pokémon, and while at it, he also develops some odd traits. He never uses his mouth to attack, and he can't really hiss, saying that his teeth hurts every time he did and not knowing how, respectively. He rarely coils up, making a mess of his long body. Lastly, if he wasn't in his former life, he is now a claustrophobic.

History:
Born in Dusia, he and his younger sister were the children of a not-so-rich family, under the mundane surname that they had within their last name. Their life was the quaint feel -- the two siblings would play together, end up bickering when one went too harsh only to make up later, hours of dwelling near the wired fences bordering the forest just near the city. His parents were the most gentle, and the two loved them so much for their seemingly endless care.

The playful life they lived for, however diminished when they were still attending school. Their father vanished without a trace, and 5 years later their mother has fallen ill to a rare disease that could be cured in exchange of a large sum of money. They couldn't pay such ridiculous amount, so the two left gloomily with heavy hearts. To that day, they swore that he and her sister will work hard so that they could help her mother from her illness.

Spoiler:

Moves:
• *Flamethrower
• Poison Jab
• Wrap
• Venoshock
• Bulldoze
• Haze

Other:
• While he had seen peculiar special devices in the works, he never had the chance to use it at all, making him unaccustomed to its usage procedure.

goodra_by_servaline-d6p99ov.jpg

Name: Roger Dormin
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Species: Goodra

Human Appearance:
Spoiler:

Pokemon Appearance: A goodra with yellow eyes, his Teal control crystal located on his right shoulder.

Personality: Outside his household he's a calm and collected individual that always had a solution to a solvable dilemma. At his home he was goofy and excitable especially around his little sister. He always felt he needed to protect her and be a good role model for her to look up to. Anyone that attempted to insult or hurt his family were met with a swift kick and a broken leg, in secret of course as to not be caught breaking the Third Law.

History: Born and raised in the cozy Sophia town, he had a career of doing small jobs around the town for small payments. Most people would think he would just be getting the money for him, but they knew that wasn't the case. He used the money to help support his family in times of need, specifically his father who was bedridden due to a disease in his bones. Thanks to the constant problems caused by the resistant groups he kept a steady flow of cash to keep the bills paid and food on the table. He was very protective of his younger sister, Melody. He swore to be a good role model for her and to make sure that she grew up happy and healthy. Although as fate being the cruel mistress that it was, Melody was constantly bullied at her school. Due to being shorter then the other members of her grade, she was prone to being picked on and easily assaulted by other members of her class. Unfortunately for the members of her class, whenever someone decided to lay a hand on little melody, they suffered some sort of injury around the next few days. An "accident" always seemed to happen to them. As you probably guessed, Roger caused most of these "accidents" as to teach the bullies a lesson. He never got caught and never did anything too violent that would break the Third Law. Whenever he was caught by the people he was attempting to harm, he proceeded to ask them to discuss the matter in a place where no one would see. He always had the TM Giga Impact on him as to protect himself once he had led them away. After beating them to a pulp, he made them promise never to harm his smaller sister again or else they would suffer the consequences. He hadn't been caught yet, until one day.

3 large men were attempting to mug Melody in a dark alleyway, Roger eventually found them and told them how the usual would go. But, as most likely due to his bad karma of accidents caused by him, he accidentally caused one of the thugs to break his neck, causing instant death to him. As the two ran, Roger was caught with the corpse and a trembling melody. Of course after a court trial, was sentenced guilty for breaking the Third Law. He awoke in the facility, in a new body, in a new form. He was immediately put to work mining ores. That day he swore to get back to Sophia and to protect his family.

Moves: Giga Impact*, Outrage, Rain dance, Aqua Tail, Dragon Pulse, Protect

Other: He was very fit due to all the jobs he had to constantly help with

This is interesting, you took your Pokemon species in the opposite direction that I did. Leon's human skills dictated what Pokemon Leon turned into. Quite the opposite for Greg.
That's also a pretty interesting way of breaking the Third Law.

If you're interested, I could do some color editing of existing Joltik images for you, like so.

Well, I think he will definitely add a good dynamic to the roleplay. A more... sneaky-type character with a moodiness to him.
When I went back and read your character and SkittyEevee's (I decided to not read them until I finished mine, so I didn't steal any concepts by accident), I was a little concerned that their "moodiness" might be too similar. It's probably not a big deal but it might be worth mentioning.
I left a few ideas on the cutting room floor, such as cyclothymic disorder.

Those are rad images you made! I like his personality details, too.

Seeing characters like Greg and Edmond makes me want to add something else to Leon... Something like, "The boy is occasionally frustrated by his new body, particularly his tongue, but he doesn't hate it. He only hates his new LIFE, and Arcadia. However, he can't help but notice those who have it much worse than him, when it came to their transformation -- those who are struggling with a much more drastic change. Times like those help him break out of his reclusive nature, so he can lend an empathetic ear or helping hand to Pokémon like that."
