Hello everyone,

today I want to showcase my Pokémon ROM-Hack project called "PokéLand 0", on which I completed already 2 Episodes 😃

About

PokéLand 0 isn't a normal Pokémon Game. On planet Xenos, where only Pokémon reside, 4 orphan teenagers set out to explore their homeworld.
Yet, the planet has to face a strong danger, known as Darkness themselve. But this won't stop Chimchar, Riolu, Piplup & Torchic to help the inhabitants. Along their journey they'll meet many friends, but also strong opponents.

The game has a rich story to unveal, consists of strategic battles, Dungeons à la "The Legend of Zelda", Minigames, Sidequests and many things to uncover.

There will be 6 episodes in total.

looks interesting!!! cool concept. only question I have is how many episodes are there going to be as it seems like there's an episode system you have planned. (based on the fact that there seems to be more episodes hence it being episode 1)

This is intriguing! Assuming it's in episodes, how many hours of Gameplay does Episode 0 have?

Episode 1 has ~7-9 hours of gameplay. Depends a bit if you're familiar with the franchise and if you're doing the side- & post-game stuff

Where it end for episode 1

Episode 1 ends after you complete the first half of Shine City. After that, there are a few more things to discover :)

PokéLand 0 is not meant to compare itself to Mystery Dungeon and it's not related to that story either. The game doesn't even take a Mystery Dungeon as a Rom-Base. So, I don't insult Mystery Dungeon in any way. I just made a comment, that planet Xenos also only has Pokémon as their inhabitants, as I feel humans would just be out of place in this story.

Instead, I made PokéLand 0 to tell a story, that's quite important for me. PokéLand 0's essence is to enjoy a story-driven adventure, filled with puzzles and fun turn-based battles.

Just finished the game.
Overall Review

Positives:
1) Concept & Creativity: Very unique and clearly different from traditional Romhacks. Loved the fact that the entire in-game universe was exclusively only Pokemon and had no humans.
2) Boss Battles: While the boss battles weren't extremely difficult, they were still relatively challenging. But more importantly, the selection of the boss for the particular section of the story was pretty good which I personally liked.

Negatives:
1) Execution: The game felt very unpolished and some of the puzzles seemed more like a chore versus something challenging to deal with. The game felt pretty buggy in general.
2) Side Quests: Again the incorporation of the side quests was great but, in general they don't seem to make any sense and seem really random. For example, "The Baking a Cake Side-quest" felt really random considering what happens after finishing the quest.

Neutral:
1) Story: Not really sure what you were going for with the story, but it was personally a little too cringeworthy for my taste. That said, there were some parts that were entertaining and the overall narrative isn't that bad. It definitely has great potential to become much better over the next few chapters.

Main Suggestion:
1) Puzzles: Focus on quality versus quantity. A lot of the puzzles seem more like a grind and pain to deal with versus something interesting or challenging to solve. Try to incorporate this and keep this in mind for future episodes.

I'm definatly going the way of quality over quanitity and I'll look how I can optimize the minigames and sidequests. The story will also strongly develop in Episode 2

🐴 2 NEW Ponyta Racing Minigames (Level 1 - 3 can now be played as often as you like, but unfortunately, only before you reach the finale. It is recommended to create a separate save-state)

This is also the first time, you'll get some insights on how the main villain of the series thinks and behaves 👿
