Although no longer in that position, I don't dislike it.

In Kanto and Johto, Ash got all the starters. In Hoenn, he just got Treecko.

Love Treecko, after choosing Charmander as my starter in gen 1 and Cyndaquil for gen 2, Treecko is the pokemon that broke the pattern of fire type pokemon i was trending towards, and made me start with grass the first time I played Emerald. I like all the Hoenn starters, but Treecko's my favorite.
