The Saul Goodman spin-off has just been green-lit. The spin-off show will be a one-hour prequel tentatively titled "Better Call Saul", and will serve to tell the story of how Saul Goodman became the popular defense attorney that he is.

What do you guys think about this development?

I'm actually looking forward to it, I love Saul and his character has a lot of potential and a lot of mysterious past to mine from. I hope they do it right, though.

I don't know, if it relates to breaking bad and its context sure but if its just an attorney doing his stuff then NO! I think that it would just be ripping of the breaking bad name for quick money

It's Saul Goodman, he's never just doing his stuff. He's a corrupt lawyer who deals directly with criminals, makes deals with them, and participates in their crimes as well as committing crimes of his own.

He's knee-deep in the criminal world, and this show will basically show how he went from lawyer to, well, this. Essentially it's Breaking Bad with Saul instead of Walt. I trust the producers and believe they could do a great job of this.

I think Gilligan and his team of writers can make this spin-off work. I'm cautiously optimistic!

I'll watch, although I don't like prequels because the room for major character deaths is practically shut. No matter what happens to him, Saul can't die because he appears in Breaking Bad. Any left-for-dead scenes that might pop up are instantly numbed by the fact that the audience knows that he survives.

Maybe his story will have similar tones to Walt's in terms of being an innocent dude who slowly gets corrupted while trying to deal with a deadly secret world. That'd be worth watching.
