Anime/Manga The flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long

The idea sounds really great but it doesn't seem anyone is interested so far (60 reads and no replies... lol)

Count me in, hopefully you can set this into motion if you get a decent number of followers.

For too long has low-, medium-, and quasi-class anime taken the limelight. It's a fact. Not enough people appreciate the fine, honed art of anime elitism.
This changes now. We will set in motion a grand scheme unlike anything seen before. We will wage a war the 8.7-averaged MAL users cannot possibly win. We will show the world that--

Hell yeah, I'll watch hipster animus with you lads.

And so will YOU.

Count me in. I'm always down to try some new series out.

I'll be interested if we actually try to watch some good stuff. If it's less known/obscure stuff in question, I'll probably know some good recs. Still need to catch up with that Hataraku Maoh watch as well.

Neat, some members. I'd like to get a few more people through the doors before we start with that anime stuff so now would be a good time to gauge opinion on my initial rulez. As I've said, I'm open to suggestions. I think if we can make it as tight as possible from the start we'll be less likely to die by the end of September.

Yeah, I won't be expecting people to watch everything. All I can ask is that people keep an open mind and give things a go.

Rules look good to me. A maximum of six episodes per week is a pretty healthy amount (and one I rarely accomplish without exterior motivation anyway).

Suppose we'll go with 6 then, hopefully people will join along the line with the thread constantly being at the top of the page ({XD}).

Feel free to put forward some ideas for our first shows then (1 series and/or the film/ova). Also over to you Kenchiin, you get to pick one straight up, that's some pressure right there.

However just want to confirm if there is an age rating we have to keep to, or anything goes?.

As long as the show isn't trash, anything goes.

Well per site rules, any porn is right out. Outside of that, just be mindful of keeping screenshots PG-13, and if you're going to share illegal sources, do it offsite. But all those should be a given.

I'm interested in joining, but I've got enough on my plate over the next 3 weeks that adding 3 episodes of anime to that is a bad idea.

Yeah, I'd assumed people would be fine without me quoting house rules.

First two look interesting =). Submarine might be a good start?, not too many episodes.

Now the moment you have all been waiting for, my first suggestions.

For the main show I'll be putting forward some sci-fi from the turn of the century, Brigadoon. From what I've read it'll give us plenty of talking points and it's been on my PTW for years.

The Wings of Honneamise will be my film suggestion. I'm sure most of you know of it already but it's just so underwatched compared to all of the other Gainax classics.

From the selections thus far I'd be happiest to go along with Kare Kano or Texhnolyse (although I kind of feel that's a 'watch at your own pace' sort of show).

I have no idea what's going on, but I'm intrigued.
