Film Avengers: Endgame (mark spoilers clearly!!)

• oof was not expecting Thor to go for the head so quickly, so unexpected hahaha
• Let's take a moment to appreciate the fact that a literal rat set off the chain of events that led to the unsnappening, by restarting the thingo to bring back Antman
• On the topic of Antman I was slightly disappointed that Luis didn't make an appearance / do a recap of something, but ah well can't have it all
• I really liked their take on time travel and getting all the stones back as the solution. It was great to go back and revisit old scenes and characters, especially seeing Frigga and the Ancient One again. Super cool scenes.
• Cap fighting Cap was brilliant, and omg that elevator scene I died. I think everyone expected him to say "before we get started, does anyone want to get out?" so seeing him say "hail hydra" instead was soooo good omg hahaha so smart
• ALSO FUCK FINALLY HE GOT TO lift mjolnir. YES. so good omg
• The whole final battle with Thanos was amazing. Seeing all the dusted heroes one by one returning was definitely my favourite scene. especially since it started with Sam saying "on your left", so good. Loved the moment where Carol took the gauntlet off Spidey and then all the female heroes charged together, what a huge moment
• Really sad we lost Nat, but I do think it makes sense for her character to be sacrificed. :(
• I cried the most when Spidey was reunited with Tony briefly and he did the really rushed recap of being dusted then being brought back then Dr Strange saying it's been 5 years and they have to go. Tom Holland does SUCH a good job of portraying peter/spidey as a teenager.
• mourning tony :( it was his time and damn what a way to go. He never wanted to sacrifice himself and was finally happy with a kid and just wanted to keep what he had, so it's a shame he lost his life but I think it was a great send-off. Also think Cap had a great send-off, I'm happy he was able to finally live a life he missed out on (and that he learnt it's okay to slow down and go to the important people in his life).
• The credits with the original 6 having their autographs?!? So good, loved it
• overall i reckon it's probably my favourite MCU film. Didn't leave me shattered for hours after like infinity war did, but it just tied everything together so nicely, was a great end to such a big story (and to some amazing characters), and just that ending battle was so epic. can't wait for watch #2

OH MY GOS I KNWO IM TYPING THIS IN ALL CAPS BUT IT DESERVES ALL CAPS TBH,, I LOVE NEARLY EVERYTHING ABOUT IT AND I LITERALLY DIDNT FEEL THAT IT WAS THAT LONG

There was so many nostalgia moment i just literally cried. Especially the return of everyone with stranges portals, god that was so, so good and i absolutely appreciate the effort put into that one scene.

Best comedic scene - thor and fortnite hands down

scarlett witch is.. just so fucking cool man. Thats all i have to say. Even brie isn't as cool as her.

And tony. Tony hurt. Tony's death hit home. He had a family, he was happy. He learned his dad was proud of him. He had everything going for him and it just all... Snapped.

I LOVE HOW CAP WENT AND MARRIED THE GIRL. LIKE IVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG. IT WAS... SO GOOD. also lifting mjolnir like a fucking boss. Hella worthy.

Also i just want to take this moment to talk about that credits. Like.. yes the autographs were amazing and BOY THAT WAS THE BEST CREDITS EVER but the digital artists /cgu people get all the respect, it would never have been this great without the visual effects to go with it. I was lowkey disappointed nearly everyone at the cinemaleft because there was going to be no post credit scenes but you just have to appreciate them once in a while, and that was a LOT of artists. So proud of them aaaaaaaaaaa

Okay first and foremost lemme get the part I really hated out of the way: what the hell was with all the jokes poking fun of Thor??? Like, I know they were going for "haha the hottest one is out of shape and a fat alcoholic" but for me it really just came across like they were making fun of his obvious and severe PTSD and I admit I did laugh at the sheer difference the first time he was on screen but seconds later I just felt awful and then it kept zooming in on his gut for the whole rest of the film even while still... showing off how incredibly poorly he's been handling the snap. Poor taste and just... ugh. It ruined so many scenes for me and ended up being the thing I just can't get out of my head. :(

But anyway, the good stuff!

- I was SO surprised by the angle they took for this. I hadn't even watched a single trailer for this before seeing the movie so I don't know how much others knew going into it but when Thanos was defeated basically what felt like minutes into the movie? And then the most depressing 5-year timeskip ever? Damn. They weren't kidding around.

- Okay I am SO SO GLAD I bothered to watch Ant Man and the Wasp because I was definitely just gonna skip it since I find Ant Man very not interesting buuut wow lol so much of the movie hinged on him. I loved the way Scott came back.

- Tonyyyyy. I knew he was gonna die as soon as I saw Pepper survived and especially once I saw he had a kid. T__T He was such a cute dad. His reunion with Peter was so cute too, wahh.

- I usually hate time travel as a plot mechanic but I guess this one was done well enough. It really made me wish I'd rewatched EVERYTHING in preparation. Seeing parts from all the old movies in new context was so gooood. I loved the parts during the first Avengers movie. Cap's scenes were so good here. The elevator, the self-fight, everything. The whoooole theatre lost it when he said "hail hydra" lmaoo.

- i'm sad about nat but... her character arc makes way more sense with her dying than it would with clint dying. usually i'm mad about the girls getting killed off but this didn't feel like that. I thought it was in-line with her character and I'm glad she and Hawkeye got one more mission together and I'm glad she got to make her own choice about her fate, instead of her life being in someone else's control. :')

- oh, lmao Carol was GREAT. I kinda hoped she'd do more, although I mean she did show up and then basically single-handedly subdue Thanos both times. It was weird that they didn't call her back when they started the time machine experiments. I mean, it gave her a very dramatic entrance during the battle but... still weird.

- anyway i gotta go to bed so quickly: aaaaAAAAAA the battle! It was so cool! Captain America and mjolnir! I don't think I've ever been in such a joyous atmosphere as that theatre was when the portals started opening up and everyone joined the battlefield. I was pretty impressed by how much screentime everyone got considering how jam-packed it was. I loved the relay race to get the stones to the van. peter introducing himself to everyone on the way. the totally unnecessary but AWESOME part where the girls take it from him and just like clear the whole battlefield in their way lmaoo.

- big :( :( :( at strange looking at tony across the battlefield and just holding up one finger. and tony just going for it. I'm glad he died surrounded by people who love him. I'm def tearing up just thinking about it again LOL,,

- I liked all the little follow ups at the end. thor handing off his title to Valkyrie and deciding to travel, Steve going to live out his life, and so on. ;; wahh

- my question: why tf is peter's friend still in high school? did he get snapped too, then? When everyone came back, they're just 5 years younger than everyone around them? The logistics of that sound like a NIGHTMARE. Especially coming back to a world that moved on without you 5 years ago and suddenly you're the same, just felt like a short nap, but everyone you knew is suffering severe PTSD. How many people just up and offed themselves after losing everyone and now all those people come back and the ones they left behind are just gone??? How is the world's infrastructure supposed to support double the population after deteriorating so far in 5 years. I have so many worries about what they did here and Stark daughter or no, I really feel like they should have reversed time as well to right before/after the snap. @_@

But just in case this is also filler. And also this. And this. I should also mention that I'm comic reader, so my opinion on several characters and scenes are affected by that.

The movie started exactly how I though it would start, but in the opposite order. I though Tony and Nebula's part will be first and then Clint's. I was surprised how quickly were Tony and Nebula saved by Captain Marvel. I kinda hoped for Pepper to save them. But that would probably take more time in already long movie.

Speaking of Captain Marvel, she's my most hated character in the comics since Civil War II so I didn't even bother to watch her movie and this was first time seeing her in the live action movie. And I have to say that her representation is spot on. I was really looking forward for her scenes to end. But to say something positive about her I loved her short-haired version. It always looked weird in comics, but was okay in this movie.

But moving on the time jump was interesting. I didn't expected it. Seeing how characters changed during that time. Tony as father was great, but alongside the last conversation between Tony and Dr. Strange, was the red light that just screamed that Tony will die in the end. Oh and Tony casually inventing time travel while accidentally teaching his daughter how to curse was funny.

Professor Hulk was something I didn't expect. Nice conclusion of Banner/Hulk story. I hope we'll see more of him in future movies. He could probably be a science guy now that Tony is gone.

Clint got finally something interesting to do after all these movies.

And Nat sacrificing herself was sad. But I feel like she didn't really do much in recent movies. She was just there, somewhere in the background and really didn't do anything. Just like with Clint, it was nice for her to have more screentime. The best part of that Clint vs Nat scene, to be more specific during that part when they were both hanging over the cliff, was when my girlfriend just whispered next to me: "Just let her die already."

Oh and Thor was just golden in this. I loved yet another transformation of him and him getting Mjolnir back. It was interesting that his Lebowski form was as powerful as his normal form. I wonder if he'll ever get to use Odinforce on screen.

As for time travel stuff, it was funny and full of easter eggs. I was hoping for someone to get stuck in the past. I kinda expected Cap to say "Before we get started, does anyone want to get out?", but "Hail Hydra" was so much better. And that whole sequence with Cap vs Cap was great and Iron Man getting knocked by past Hulk was funny.

Nebula and past Nebula's connection was probably needed plotdevice and I'm glad it wasn't overused.

And now for the fun part. I enjoyed this battle against (depowered) Thanos more than Infinity War battles. I just feel like Thanos without the stones is more interesting opponent than Thanos with stones. Cap picking up and using Mjolnir was cool moment. My theory is that he became worthy when he decided to save the world instead of staying with Peggy on the 70s. What he eventually got to do.

Speaking of that last time travel, I loved how Steve passed the shield to Sam. I was expecting Bucky to be the next Captain America, but can't wait to see Sam in that role.

But back to that battle. There is one stupid scene that I hate. It was the part when all the female superheroes banded together in one scene and attacked Thanos. It was stupid in Infinity War, it was stupid in other movies and it was stupid in Endgame too. I think it was unnecessary, felt forced and only done as pandering to sjw. It was even worse when there were great scenes involving these female characters before and after this one. Scarlet Witch taking on Thanos and almost beating him, Pepper joining Tony, Nebula and Gamora saving Ant-Man, heck even Carol saving Peter was cool.

Overall I think this movie was great cherry on top of the cake build over the last decade. I don't think it's the best movie of all time, nor even the best Marvel movie of all time, but I enjoyed it. It gave all the original Avengers some kind of conclusion to their stories and opened the door for new heroes to come in. I wonder how will they address the fact that 5 years have passed for half the planet.

And I wish I could see Cap returning all the stones. I mean Reality Stone was liquid when they got it. And Soul Stone was guarded by Red Skull, Cap's nemesis.

Okay, first of all, I totally predicted the direction this movie was gonna go in! Before we even knew much of anything about the movie, I kept seeing descriptions like, "Thanos is the main antagonist of Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame", like it was a fact; and I thought, what if he isn't? What if he just dies really early on, and the rest of the film is about something else? But I didn't really expect it to happen. Wow!

So, anyway...My goodness, that timeskip was bleak. :disbelief:

Time travel basically creates problems every time it's used in a story, but I still liked it. When they started talking about going back in time to get the Infinity Stones, I was like, "oh my gosh, are they about to travel back to the earlier movies? They ARE!!" (Loved Loki mocking Captain America, Thor shutting him up, Hulk having to use the stairs...basically that entire sequence. :laugh-squinted:)

Loved Nebula in this one. Her friendship with Tony was super cute, and that scene with them playing paper football...it really underlined how she's never gotten to just be a normal person before. Karen Gillan plays her so well; you can tell so much about her character just by her voice. (Also, this carries over from Infinity War, but her scream when she's in that floaty thing ugghhhagh)

...On the other hand, the past two movies have really not been kind to us Starlord fans. :irate-stare: Infinity War, he makes the most infamous screwup in the MCU, gets no screentime afterwards and dies; this movie, he's getting knocked on the head and kneed in the crotch...Hoping for a bit of redemption in Guardians 3.

...I feel like I'm the only one who actually liked Professor Hulk. :| Well, sort of - in Thor: Ragnarok, it seemed like they were setting up the Hulk as a separate entity, and the way they handled it here makes it seem like they dropped that (or, unsettlingly, like Banner wiped out Hulk's mind and replaced it with his own). But I probably just don't understand the details clearly enough. Anyway, I legitimately like the idea of Banner being in his Hulk form full-time, and - heck, I'm just glad to see him so noticeably happy. His depression has always gotten me, dang it.

Speaking of things that got me, nooo Nat I honestly hate the Redemption Equals Death trope (Black Widow may have always been a hero in the movies, but a large part of her character was about her sketchy past and desire to make up for the "red in her ledger", so I still feel like it counts), but I guess I can accept this...she lived a good life, and her sacrifice allowed Hawkeye to go home and take care of his family...

One thing that disappointed me was how little closure there was for Scarlet Witch. Not closure in the sense of beating up Thanos (she did pretty well in that regard, wow), but in the sense of what she's gonna do with her life after, in her own words, everything was taken from her. The last we see of her, she's just standing on the porch talking vaguely to Clint. Oh well, I guess this isn't necessarily the last time we'll see her.

Captain Marvel...really didn't do much, did she? It was especially noticeable for the time heist, because of how they emphasized that they were getting the whole team. (Side note, the scene with Hulk in a small spacecraft during the getting-the-team together montage went by so fast that at first I could only make out something green inside the craft - so for a second, I thought it was Talos. Now, that would've had me squeeing.) Up until her appearance in the final battle, I was starting to think all the hype about her had been a big red herring.

...Oh yeah, the final battle. What can I even say about it other than it was so awesome? My dad described it as "a comic book geek's dream", and even though I'm only a Marvel-movie geek, I'm inclined to agree. (When Steve grabbed Mjolnir, I looked over at my dad in the next seat with the biggest smile).
The scene with all the female heroes was pretty cool, but it sort of took me out of the moment that Mantis was there. I was like, "uh, is she gonna be okay, though?" LOL

Finally, you know what was the best thing about the movie for me?...My middle name is Morgan.
