You've infiltrated Café Rouge. You wait for your comrades to arrive. It has taken months for Professor Sycamore to get trainers in to Team Flare's base, cleverly disguised as a café, but finally he has eyes and ears within the facility.

The hidden earpiece buzzed in your ear.

Not only are they enigmatic, and rather crazy, they're also rich beyond belief - funded by elaborate businesses and the wealth of Lumiose City. Their gang is tight knit, high security and highly secretive - nobody really knows what they are up to behind the scenes.

In recent years, Professor Sycamore, an established pokémon professor, has worried about Team Flare's ever-increasing hold over the capital of the Kalos region. He has noted every strange occurrence, every sign of a cover-up, and has finally gathered the resources to take action.

Despite the public backing them, there are many prominent and important figure who have privately sided with the professor - the Gym Leaders, elite trainers and even the Lumiose detective agency are gathering information and providing leads, best they can. Together, they will guide and train a task force to infiltrate and uncover Team Flare's questionable activities.[/div]

You can be of any age, and of varying experience, but you're not yet famous. You have one, two, or many even more Kalos League Badges and have good knowledge of both Pokémon and battling.

At the start of this roleplay, you will be summoned by Professor Sycamore, who has heard of your prowess from the Gym Leaders around the region. He will gather a number of trainers together to make two, individual task forces. Team Alpha will be a group of spies, whereas Team Beta shall be the direct assault team - ready to take on Flare's increasingly dangerous activities.

This roleplay will see your characters trained by experts before being sent on a variety of missions to infiltrate, disrupt and publicise Team Flare's plans. Some tasks will be general, some will involve the split Alpha/Beta teams.

Sounds interesting, I definitely would like to give this a shot. Something I need to ask though, is it required that I play Pokemon X/Y? I own neither a 3DS nor the games in question.

However, I do have Serebii.net and other various sites as reference, should that be a necessity.

Nope playing won't be necessary, some information will be supplied and playing might help visualise areas/routes but definitely not a necessity.

Appearance: A short young man with decent features. His brown hair is straight and it falls calmly to his sides, ending near the bottom of his face and curving slightly outwards as it does so; his eyes are big and are of an emerald color. Wears a green jacket with a muddy brown color on the sleeves. He's not the tallest, standing at 5' 11," and he has a black sports watch as well as a sling bag. He's usually seen with a plain or grinning face and is slim, lacking bulging muscle as well as fat. He's nearly always yawning or stretching. His pants are brown as well as cargo, and inside his jacket he wears a plain white t-shirt. He also has a fuchsia as well as green polo at his disposal in a brown duffel bag that tends to always be on his shoulder. Orion is also pale.

He tends to wear different things for different occasions, obviously; but since these things change, they'll be described in the IC.

History: Orion was a young man inspired by space as well as his elder uncle, who had collected all the badges but did not participate in the league and became a Breeder instead. Born on the fourteenth of April to two caring but simultaneously mischievous and fraudulent parents, he spent much of his time engrossed in his telescope or spending time studying Pokemon. He disliked the many scams his parents invested so much time in, but that was there source of income and Orion soon learned to manipulate them well- although he never actively engaged in the practice.

At the age of eight, Orion recieved a telescope.
At the age of ten, Orion recieved an egg, which hatched into his first Pokemon.
At the age of fourteen, Orion moved to Camphrier and began his adventure.

Impacted greatly by his first Pokemon and his sudden move, the adolescent began to explore the outer world. The interesting thing to many people was that instead of his interests fading, they intensified during the transition from child to young adult. He slowly became immersed in the league, completing five badges until his parents were locked up for fraud and he hastily had to return home at seventeen. His parents were entrepeneurs, and thus he handed the business over to a close family friend and stayed at home, feeding off of a small battle facility he ran in his backyard, in a small hut. The facility was built with the help of nearby men and women as well as them owner of Shabboneau Castle, who being as generous as he was could not resist himself. Once the Battle Maison gained popularity, he was quickly out of business.

And then, Team A took over a lot of his life.

History: The result of the egg Orion received for his tenth birthday. After hatching, it quickly became a close friend to Orion, but only gained a few levels until Orion finally went on his adventure. After the many trials and tribulations, Vulpe evolved and finally helped Orion run the facility in his backyard. During Orion's travels, it's purpose was to strike fast and strike hard, as well as to employ a level of stealth in it's tactics. It shares Orion's interest in sleep.

Nickname: Phoenix
Estimated level: 49
Moves: Flame Charge, Agility, Air Cutter
History: A Pokemon used for transport as well as battle. It was one of the first Pokemon Orion caught, and is used quite often- albeit it isn't his main Pokemon. It's rowdy and energetic.

Nickname: Scutum

Moves: Phantom Force, Horn Leech, Forest's Curse
History: A result of a very strange trade. Orion gave it a nickname due to it's lack of one, and the Pokemon itself was impartial and didn't seem to mind. It's a bit rude, as well as a prankster. Works well in conjunction with Phoenix.

Nickname: Aquarius
Estimated Level: 48
Moves: Psycho Cut, Night Slash, Hypnosis
History: A recent addition to Orion's team. It's quite vain as well as quiet, and it also seems to take a liking to food.

Sample Roleplay:

Orion's eyes quickly fluttered from the telescope to the iced tea sitting on a stool next to it, drinking it as he observed the skies. "I believe that's Aquarius, right there." It had been a while since he had looked out at the stars, and it had also been a while since he had drunk iced tea, making the perfect combination. A trainer card sat next to him, indicating his six badges but his lack of the two more he needed for the league. It didn't matter to him; he didn't have much to do in the league anyhow, and his attention was focused on making sure there was food in the fridge. And at that moment, the stars and the comet streaking a path in the sky.

They were magnificent, each one brightly shining in the night sky. And the comet was amazing. Camphrier wasn't too far from Lumiose, yet it was sufficiently so that the sky was rid of light pollution. Of course, back in his home city, this wouldn't deter him, but as he swiveled around in his chair and grabbed his glass quietly, he recalled how hard it was to see. Walking off his patio, he stood over the grass. The sky was slowly becoming a shade of pink, indicating dawn. He had slept all the previous day, just to get to see that comet.

Of course, the night sky wasn't his only obsession.

With multiple clicks, a few Pokemon were released. A sly female Zoroark, his first Pokemon, who simply laid down and went to sleep. Again. A Talonflame, who made noise regardless of whether it was the dead of night or the middle of the day, and then quickly perched on Orion's shoulder. Orion grinned and touched the bird's feathers. Next, a Trevenant, which found this the perfect moment to scare the wits out of the sleeping Zoroark. And finally, that darn Malamar.

My god.

Orion looked at him strangely. The Malamar minded himself, his "hair" and making sure he was completely polished. Orion picked up a clean white rag and tossed it to him, and it quickly dodged, and looked at it in disgust before continuing to clean itself with it's own flippers. Or were they tentacles? Orion sighed. He was never one for the specifics, so he simply looked at Aquarius. It could be worse. At least he isn't rude. Grasping his iced tea, he took a gulp and sat down. It paid to observe Pokemon; it made a person really know what he was dealing with.

He simply watched as Scutum and Vulpe fought. He quietly sipped his drink when Aquarius began to boast to Phoenix. Although sometimes he intervened when he felt that it was necessary, he also liked to let the Pokemon sort out their own problems, as it made them work toge- "Stop!" Hey, I wasn't finished with my narrating! And as nearly seamless I wanted this to be, there's always a stray stitch, as noted by Orion's swift movements. "This isn't a battlefield, either. If you want to fight, you gotta release your anger in battle. Or through skill. Or through some other form." He stretched out his arms. "Out here isn't it. Especially not with the neighbors around." The Pokemon looked at him semi-strangely.

"...And, I think I have the perfect way to do it." He said this as clutched a letter with a neatly printed "from Sycamore."

Name: Clara Gosselin
Age: 18

Appearance: If you had to describe Clara in one word, it would likely be "plain". Clara herself would protest, but it is the truth; pale skin, unremarkable facial features, chocolate brown hair and eyes not much darker give Clara little to distinguish herself visually from any other passer-by. Her hair is quite long in length and is usually worn either in a plaited ponytail or just flowing free depending on Clara's mood, though it is always kept clear of her face no matter how she styles it. Her build is similarly generic, placing Clara smack in the middle of the height rage and providing her with large amounts of neither fat or muscle, though she has more of the latter than the former from several years active traveling. Traveling for several years and dealing with baby pokemon has given Clara several scars, though she goes to great pains to hide them. These include a bite mark on her left calf, a set of puncture wounds on her thigh and splotchy poison burns up her arms.

While Clara has a rather flamboyant sense of style when it comes to clothing, as a trainer she is forced to make sacrifices for practicality. She tends to wear a pair of thick, durable leather boots and jeans made of dark blue denim, with her pokeballs attached to a small chain hanging from two points on her belt. Higher up she wears a tightly fitted white hoodie over a black tank top.

Clara has plenty of accessories, around her neck she wears an extremely long, crimson scarf that wraps several times around her neck and then falls down her back to waist height. Clara actually owns several of these scarves in various types of fabric to match the season and temperature but they all look identical. A similarly coloured backpack holds her supplies. She tends to wear fingerless gloves – half to hide a burn on the back of her right hand and half for practicality – and an ornament made of silvery metal and a shiny blue stone is usually affixed somewhere in her hair.

History: Clara is a Kalos native, born to a relatively well-off family living in Lumiose City. For the most part her childhood was fairly carefree; Clara wanted for little and loved the place that she lived in.

Unlike many children pokemon didn't feature much in her thoughts beyond Shae, the Houndour puppy who had been following along her ankles for as long as she could remember. When many children were leaving for pokemon journeys Clara was more interested in wandering the city with her friends or learning to draw and paint from her mother.

It was only as she grew older and passed her fourteenth birthday that Clara began to gain interest in the idea of battling pokemon. This interest was mainly fuelled by her desire to travel farther out and see more of the world; something that was hard to do without trained pokemon that could protect her. It was rough at first; for her starter Clara chose Shae and the Houndour - up until now used more to getting her food in a dish than hunting it - didn't do well at battling, her lack of confidence working against what little fighting skill she had.

Things changed when Clara found herself being attacked by a stray Mightyena by the outskirts of Santalune city. Sensing that both of them were scared the Mightyena was more aggressive than usual, chasing and herding them about until it made the mistake of actually hurting Clara, biting her leg and sending her falling down a hill. Enraged at this, Shae forgot about her fear and attacked. Desperation can give a person amazing strength and the same goes for pokemon, with nothing in her mind but protecting Clara Shae defeated the Mightyena. Despite Shae's new-found confidence Clara herself was shaken by the attack and returned to Lumiose City.

She wouldn't resume her short-lived journey until almost a year later after her fifteenth birthday. One of her younger friends, Sarah, had turned thirteen and after much wheedling convinced Clara to join her on her on her journey. Travelling in a group proved much safer and unlike Clara and Shae, both Sarah and her starter pokemon had plenty of natural skill at battling. The two spent the next three years combing the nooks and crannies of the Kalos region, challenging the various gyms as they encountered them.

As they travelled Clara found that her skills lay more towards raising pokemon than battling them, though her skills in that did grow. Sarah, however, was much more of a traditional trainer than Clara, acquiring six badges by the time Clara had three. Needless to say, Clara was rather surprised when it was her, rather than Sarah, that received a message from one Professor Sycamore requesting her help.

Nickname: Shae
Estimated level: 35
Moves: Flamethrower, Smog, Thunder Fang
History: Shae has been with Clara for almost as long as both of them have been alive, Clara's parents acquiring her egg shortly after Clara's birth. Shae lived most of her life as a pampered house-pet but her transition into a battling pokemon when Clara started her journey went smoothly after a jerky start, mainly fuelled by a fierce protective nature and the dangers that they faced together. Despite her fierce appearance Shae is a rather placid pokemon if she doesn't feel herself or Clara are threatened, somewhat overly fond of naps and people scratching in-between her horns.

Species: Emolga
Nickname: Nix
Estimated level: 30
Moves: Thunderbolt, Acrobatics, Double Team
History: Clara acquired Nix's egg in a trade shortly after she acquired her first gym badge. Nix seems to think that Clara is her mother and is incredibly needy and clingy; literally in the latter case! Nix hates being in her pokeball and will sulk if forced into it for some reason, instead she can usually be found clinging somewhere on Clara's body or flying around her. While she has a bright and cheerful personality Nix is skittish and easily frightened. With encouragement she can battle fairly well but she is highly receptive to Clara's emotions; if Clara is scared then Nix will be as well.

Species: Haunter
Nickname: Kane
Estimated level: 30
Moves: Hypnosis, Confuse Ray, Shadow Ball
History: Clara didn't actually catch Kane until after almost a month of travelling with him, he just started following her one day. Clara has no clue how Kane actually ended up in Kalos, though his fascination with people speaking in Kantoese accents makes her think that he was originally brought over there at some point. Whatever his origins Kane shows no desire to leave Claras company, though whether this is because of loyalty or how much fun he finds her to mess with is unknown.

Species: Roselia
Nickname: Rosa
Estimated level: 10
Moves: Venoshock, Toxic Spikes, Magical Leaf
History: Rosa was acquired from a pokemon breeder in celebration of Clara's eighteenth birthday. She took to Clara quickly and as such her evolution from a Budew was quick, but her youth is easily apparent; even if you were being generous you could only call her half the size of a regular Roselia. According to the breeder Rosa's father was an expert in poison techniques and it certainly shows, in an unfortunate way. Rose is incredibly jumpy and easily shocked, to the point where she sometimes makes even Nix look brave. Unfortunately though her reaction to being shocked is usually to spray some combination of poisonous liquid and spikes wildly about her, leading to her spending the most time out of any of Clara's pokemon in a ball until she can control herself better.

Sample Roleplay:

She had been expecting the giggles, but still put a playful scowl on her face as she walked towards the café, flopping down into the seat opposite Sarah. "Nice hat." the younger girl giggled, prompting Clara to look upwards and sigh. For her latest perch Nix had simply plopped herself down right on top of Clara's head, curled up so that she did indeed resemble an extremely odd hat and then fallen asleep. "She shocks me if I try to move her." Clara muttered, shifting in her seat. Shae – who had been padding alongside her – gave a low bark of amusement and settled herself against Clara's leg, nodding off to sleep.

"So, just the two today?" Sarah asked, glancing down at her own belt that held six full pokeballs. Clara nodded, "Kane is off causing trouble somewhere, and as for Rosa-" rather than continue talking she raised one arm and peeled back a sleeve to reveal her forearm tightly wrapped with bandaged, prompting a sympathetic wince from the other girl.

"So, she's still doing the whole exploding thing then?"

"Yeah, I've been trying to use those new puffs to make her calmer but..."

The two sat there for quite some time, talking over what had happened in the week or so since they had last met up; the two often splitting up in their travels for short times. At some point talk of the past changed to talk of the future and the slowly accumulating teacups were joined on the table by a map as the two started pointing out places, deciding where to go next and what to do. Their planning was interrupted however, by a chime from Clara's phone. Clara pulled the device from her pocket and flipped to the message that she had just received, noting curiously that the message was from a sender titled as "Prof. S", her face changing to a picture of concern as she read.

"Umm, Sarah. I think I might have to change my plans."

Name: Dominique 'The Greatjon' Chleevas

Appearance: Dom is a huge, heavily muscled man that stands at 6'4", towering over everyone he comes across. His gruff, brute-like look and deep voice suffice to intimidate any lesser man. There's a hue of red in his skin and his short, shiny black hair tied in a ponytail behind his scalp. He has 'arms thick as small tree-trunks', which are covered in scars he earned while training unruly dragon-type Pokemon. Although he has a great physique that makes him look handsome from a distance, his face wasn't as fortunate as the rest of him. He has a big, pointed nose, round cheeks, bushy eyebrows and dull, grey eyes.

He has a tattoo of a jet black Haxorus that scales up his left arm, all the way up to his neck, attacking as if with a Dragon Claw. From his neck hangs a single Net Ball from a light golden chain. He usually wears fingerless, tough black leather gloves to protect his hands from further scratches. A small pouch is attached onto his belt, conveniently close to his hip so it is hidden by his coat.

He wears jeans, a tight white shirt and a sleeveless coat that is made of the same material as his gloves. His coat has multiple inner pockets where he keeps all his items, valuable or not. Generally, these are the clothes he uses while doing his duties as a dragon-type trainer.

Blah! Everyone is almost done and I've barely started! I'll get started right now! Also, do I detect a Game of Thrones reference, Ray Maverick?

Appearance:
Lee could be called a pretty boy by all means: He's around 6'4, weighs about 150 pounds, and has tan, flawless skin. His face is perfectly angular complete with a light, golden stubble coming across his chin. His eyebrows are strangely perfect, and curve with every smile, frown, or grimace. His hair is beautifully long, hanging in long sheets around his shoulder. (In X and Y, it would be Medium style, Honey colored) He tends to keep it brushed out of his face in a triangular shape in order to show his beautiful charcoal eyes. Lee's body is quite slim. but muscular at the same time. Because he can do that. Because he's gorgeous.

Lee's normal apparel consists of an aqua-blue button-up shirt that he keeps unbuttoned (made of a light fabric), a grey tee shirt that he wears underneath it with a black Pokeball emblazoned on the front (also a light material), grey jeans, black sneakers, and a grey satchel that he wears diagonally, going from right (top) to left (bottom). When he gets serious, he puts on a pair of shades and a black fedora.

History:
Lee was born in Cyllage City, with both of his parents being experienced trainers. His father had a powerful Pangoro, and his mother had a fearsome Scizor, with both of them having their Pokemon breed so their son could have the offspring of their strongest Pokemon. On Lee's third birthday, the eggs hatched. The Pancham and Scyther both took a liking to the boy. Lee and his Pokemon began to play together as if they had known each other forever. When Lee turned ten years old, he set out on his Pokemon journey. The three made great progress, and they made it to the third gym effortlessly. It was when they got to the fourth that things began to get difficult. When Brick faced off against Gogoat, they were evenly matched. The goat would charge the panda, and the panda would grapple with him until both lost their grip and fell back. On the fourth clash, Lee called out to Brick and the Pancham felt a surge of strength within him. He evolved into Pangoro mid-grapple and tossed Gogoat away with ease, earning Lee the Plant badge.

From that point on, Lee took his training seriously. He spent a total of ten years in the wilderness, training tirelessly with Brick and Jett. They lived off the land and bonded, their friendship growing to an insane amount. During this time, Brick learned Return while brawling with a Machamp, and it proved to be a powerful slam, and his most powerful attack. When the trio returned society, Lee resumed his gym challenge. After a couple of badges, he received a call from Professor Sycamore. He was called for a secret group, formed to defeat a gang. At the mention of undoing something bad, Lee jumped at the chance.

Jett and Brick have a joined history. Lee's parents chose both of them as eggs to go with Lee on his adventures. Lee had grown up with them for ten years when he was finally able to begin his Pokemon journey. The two are both very competitive with each other, and as much as it doesn't seem like it, they respect each other a great deal. They constantly fought to become Lee's favorite Pokemon, even though he loves them both equally. They actually evolved at the exact same time in a double battle, much to the dismay of the trainer they were facing. They've been with Lee for all 23 years of his life, so the three of them are closer than anyone could be with Pokemon.
