1-I liked the leaders and E4, especially Will, Janine, Falkner, and Morty!
2-New Pokemon made with *takes out fire extuingsher* actual effort, (that means not spelling a normal animal's name wrong to make it a Pokemon
3-It felt like more of a journey than kanto since you weren't walking around in a Circle
    4-Cool Music
    5-Different Style of Rival
6-New Ideas of Pokemon, like Xatu and such
7-Free Shineh! And that egg that sometimes gave out a shineh
    8-Cooler evos of crap pokemon
    9-It was my first game
    10-BAYLEEF!!!!!!!!

    1) It had a very authentic and historic feel.
    2) It was very temperate and mountain country-like with lots of conifers and wooden fences.
    3) The music also seemed quite refreshing in comparison to the other games, sometimes with an oriental feel.
    4) It was the first generation to include the day and night features and night-time really looked like night-time, unlike later generations where night-time doesn't really look dark enough.
    5) Lugia... but that's just a personal favourite of mine.
    6) The architecture... lovely oriental styles once again!
    7) Free eggs... though in Gold and Silver you don't get the random one.
    8) Shinies have top IVs.
    9) I liked the greater depths of characters than in other games, in other games I find most characters to be too unoriginal.
    10) Bellsprout tower. I don't even know what it was supposed to be based off, but it just reminded me of those Buddhist Monasteries with the characters in them (I think some even had prayer beads). Almost like a shrine of worship. I don't agree with such forms of worship but I do think it added character to the game. Same with that place with the unown and those two towers in the Ecruteak (I know it's spelled wrong) town. It just gave it a bit more realism for towns and locations to have some more depth and background actually integrated into the town's atmosphere. In later gens I find the towns to be lacking somewhat in historical value and traditions.

Ok.....hard this one, but I have played Gen II...

    1. Because after my friend had tried for years to get me into pokemon, I willingly had a go on Crystal.
    2. Because, even though I owned a GBA, I thought those graphics were brilliant.
    3. Because I didn't understand levels, and climbed Mount Silver with a Ledian.
    4. I didn't know what I was doing.
    5. Because my friend attacking me after I'd defeated Red within my first 5 minutes off playing, whilst he couldn't, was the most hilarious thing I'd ever seen until I started watching decent comedy on t.v.
    6. Because the map lied - there isn't a route between Azalea Town and Ilex Forest.
    7. Because I killed Raikou and Entei.
    8. I also ran away from Suicune and Lugia.
    9. Because this made me beg my mum to buy me Emerald when I was it (because it reminded me of Crystal, being a 3rd version).
    10. Because I can hardly remember any of it.

    Heart's Soul

    Hey, look, I was gone.

This really belongs in Forum Games... I am sure of it.

    1. Because grinding wasn't boring.
    2. It's the first Pokemon main-series game to be completely in color
    3. Because this was my first (and only) GB game.
    4. Because I saw a shiny Ho-oh and accidentally killed it
    5. Burned Tower left an imprint on me
    6. Shinies had some of the best IVs
    7. Silver was cruel
    8. The only game to have 16 decent gyms
    9. Victory Road... was good... ShinyGold made my ears bleed.
    10. "... ... ... ... ... ..." PkMn TRAINER RED sent out PIKACHU!

  • Congratulations. Thank you all for keeping this thread alive. Counting the next reasons I post, we will reach 251 (sound familiar?). If we can reach 1000, (100 posts) I will post a very special link.

    1. Because I actually felt at home in New Bark Town.

    2. Because I felt like a rancher at Moo-Moo farm.

    3. Because haircuts are awesome.

    4. Because there was more than 1 restuarunt.

    5. Because I felt sort of weird in a mystical way when I visited the lighthouse.

    6. Because the routes had the perfect amount of grass and hills.

    7. Because they saved the best of the game for the end (Larvitar, Red, Etc.,)

    8. Because you could decorate your room for the first time.

    9. Because the trees were the most realistic 8-bit trees ever!!

    10. Because you always hoped you would find Celebi if you stayed in Ilex Forest long enough.

    11. Because the game felt sort of real for the first time. Silver's anger, Whitney's bratiness, Karen's truthful words. The character's felt like people we could relate to in our real life.

Keep posting, keep listing. Soon we will have 10,000 reasons why.

    With all regards,

    -ChrisTom

  • Here goes:
    1. Totodile.
    2. Silver.
    3. Revolutionary things introduced like breeding, night and day, and playing as a girl.
    4. The thrill of beating Red.
    5. A guaranteed shiny.
    6. Shiny Ditto trick.
    7. The 8-bit music.
    8. The graphics that are better than the DPPt ones.
    9. That the storyline kept you hooked, and you didn't want to stop playing. Ever.
    10. No Natures.

Ten reasons really aren't enough, are they?

  • 1. Because Eevee had two more pieces of my heart.

    2. Because it never gets old to see Whitney cry.

    3. Because Shuckle is still one of my favourite pokemon today.

    4. Because trading isn't cool, unless you're hooked up by a game link cable.

    5. Because if you're using silver version, there is a whole mountain dedicated to you.

    6. Because nostalgia wins every single time.

    7. Because starters that don't evolve at 16, were cooler than the legendaries.

    8. Because lavender town isn't so creepy anymore now that there isn't a cemetery.

    9. Because a battle with a trainer that sends out a level 81 Pikachu is cooler than Smoochum's kiss.

    10. Because baby Pokemon are the cutest invention of life.

    1. Because I loved and knew every single Pokemon in the games.

    2. Because cloning was a way of giving your friends a Pokemon you had and they needed, not something horrible

    3. Because there was SO MUCH to do. Two islands to go to, 16 Gym leaders, and Red.

    4. Because I loved hunting through everything that was so new, and so pretty, and then finding him. Red. Waiting for the most epic battle ever.

    5. Because I loved hunting and catching the Legendary Dogs.

    6. Because I remember spending loads of time with my friends and my cousin pouring over guidebooks and gossiping about Pokemon, and then going and catching everything cool.

    7. Because of all the new types that were there. I mean, a flying steel bird? Awesome.

    8. Because finding Ho-oh...then realising how to Catch Lugia, was the best thing to happen to me.

    9. Because you could make your own Pokeballs, which was just awesome.

    10. Because it is one of the things that makes me... me. < I had to steal this...Pokemon started the entire nerd part of me up. I'd be totally different without it.

  • 1. Because there were two amazing regions.

    2. Because the new 100 Pokemon still seemed like Pokemon, unlike today's.

    3. Because chasing the legendary dogs all across the region was very fun, but also annoying.

    4. Because all of the cities had a realistic feel to them.

    5. Because Ixel Forest was so mysterious, and it was nigh impossible to catch Celebi.

    6. Because finding and catching Ho-oh and Lugia was an amazing experience.

    7. Because so many new features were introduced. (Genders, breeding, shinies, etc.)

    8. Because beating Whitney was so hard at first.

    9. Because the music was so epic. Burned Tower was a personal favorite.

    10. Because all three of the starter Pokemon were just awesome.

    1. Praying Celebi would appear if I talked to the shrine in Ilex enough. XD
    2. SHINY POKEMONNNNNNNN <333
    3. Getting pissed off at Team Rocket and slamming them into the floor was actually fun and not redundant.
    4. The countryside before Olivine City that I spent most of my time at
    5. The Elemental Punches being special and Shadow Ball being physical
    6. Grinding in the grass when suddenly -EPIC MUSIC PLAYS- "Wild RAIKOU appeared!"
    7. Kurt's apricorn Poke Balls <33
    8.
Thinking Dunsparce was a legendary Pokemon the first time I ran into it.
    9. Best rival of all time because he actually acted like a rival. :'D
    10.
The clever mechanism of Red being us from our RBY days ; an embodiment of all of our memories. Having all the "special" Pokemon that you would eventually obtain/capture in RBY. Not speaking just as our character didn't, then proceeding to mysteriously vanish away in a non-human fashion. [however, he was missing Lapras at that time.]

  • 1. The way I felt when I first stumbled upon the Ruins of Alph. It gave me such chills, especially when I turned on the radio. Nothing else in the games ever made me feel the same way.
    2. "Foe's MILTANK used ROLLOUT!"
    3. Silver was more than a flat rival character. He had a story and development, AND he was pretty to boot.
    4. Lance was the coolest champion of them all.
    5. I didn't even know about shiny Pokemon back then, so I was always under the impression that the Red Gyarados was a legendary in its own right. Something about that just made it awesome.
    6. I know where I was every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Do you?
    7. They were the first games where you could visit two regions if you don't count their remakes. I was so excited when I found out I could go back to Kanto.
    8. Battling Red was indescribable. No one had told me you could fight him in the game, so when I stumbled upon him on Mt. Silver, it was pretty magical.
    9. Me and Typhlosion were bros.
    10. Best Pokemon designs and some of the best legendaries.
    11. Running into my first legendary dog was an epic experience.
    12. Had the best BGM in the entire series. Ice Path anyone?

  • I loved so much about it that it would be hard for me to choose just 10 reasons!

1.) It was my first Pokemon game and gave me two whole regions to explore.
2.) The story was amazing. The rival was amazing. The whole thing was well thought out.
3.) I loved the world in general... The whole region was beautiful!
4.) The music was amazing. Especially Mt. Silver cave.
5.) I loved Lance and Red. They were awesome. When I beat them, I felt like God.
6.) With all the different caves and pathways and hidden areas there were thousands of places to explore.
7.) I loved the things that people said. It just seemed to be well thought-out and make total sense.
8.) It was the fist turn-based game that I ever enjoyed.
9.) I loved the challenge in trying to complete the Pokedex.
10.) When I beat the game I felt like my life was over. lol. It had been such a long game and it made me really, really want more.
