[Worldbuilding] (Fan Region) The Acalia Region

The Acalia Region is a fictional region that I have been working on for quite sometime set in the Pokemon universe. It is based on Canada, with the name itself "Acalia" being derivative of the Latin words for Maple (Acer) and Moose (Alia). Some notable locations in Acalia are;

Sattletown:
Sattletown is the starting point (If Acalia were actually in a game) and it is actually heavily based on the city in which I grew up.

Feregallia City:
Feregallia (Fair-Gal-Ee-Ah) City is the main city (I.E. like Castellia in Unova and Lumiose in Kalos). It is based on Canada's capitol Quebec city. The name Feregallia literally translates to "Like France" or "Almost France".

NEW! Vega City:
Vega City is a secondary city which takes inspiration from many of Canada's most lively cities. Theres no hidden meaning behind
it's name, but it is by far one of my favorites. It is located in the desert climate of Southern Acalia and is notable for it's tourist
attractions and the Vega Pokemon Casino which is a place where you gamble on battles against top trainers.

Right now I am naming cities and caves and then I will move on to gym locations (some of which I have already decided on) and gym leader characters! I am working on a map which I will post a preview of as soon as I can!

The starter pokemon in this region are; "Flamoosie" a Fire Type/Fighting Type Moose-like pokemon, Mayleef a Grass Type/Fairy Type Maple Leaf-like pokemon and Samphin a Water Type/Normal Type Salmon-like pokemon. Unfortunately I currently don't have any art of them, but I will be posting lots more details about these guys at some point and the first gym leader!

NEW! The Acalia Region has two legendary pokemon, "Kastheos (Kass-Thee-Oh-Ss)" who resembles a cross between a beaver and a mountain lion. He is a Dark Fire type. Then theres "Sfenthea (Ss-Fen-Thee)" who resembles a cross between a tiger and a maple tree. She is a Light Grass type.

The map has been temporarily removed while it is reworked and refined.

Awesome! I was curious about the region when you posted your introduction, so Im glad there is an easy way to follow it! I like names with a hidden meaning behind it.

Im curious about the box legendary for this region. :)

Hey, want to let you know I moved the thread to the Writer's Lounge as stuff like worldbuilding without proper storytelling (chapters/parts) belongs in this subforum. I also added a World of Pokecommunity prefix for your thread. =)

From what I skimmed, not too much going on yet but I'm sure you'll add loads more later, haha. I wish you luck on that.

A region inspired in glorious Canada, eh? Interesting!

I like to see regions that feature actual distinct ice / snow climates, whereas in the games except for Sinnoh the few cold areas are basically for decoration on the road. Between that and the above I hope this project fares well.

(Is this region going to have a coast-to-coast train system where as part of the (if this was to be a game :p) plotline the main character will have to solve a murder? And face the killer in an underground / tunnel Pokémon battle? :p )

-MINOR UPDATE-

Currently working on getting some art done of the two legendaries, Kastheos and Sfenthea as well as the three starter pokemon Flamoosie, Mayleef and Samphin. I am still reworking the Acalia Region map, I have added most of Feregallia and it's surrounding areas and I am moving on to Vega City and the Geo Mountain Range.
